— Official How to Train Your Dragon Facebook Page |
“ | Wu & Wei are a long-bodied Mist Twister Dragon with two heads, similar to dragons from Chinese folklore. Wu (the blue head) is calm, cool, quiet, and thoughtful. Wei (the red head) is aggressive, hot, fiery, and soulful. Wu & Wei’s flight motion looks as if they are ‘slithering’ through the air, and they can combine their mists into a variety of combination attacks. As a Tidal Class dragon, they must regularly hydrate themselves to rejuvenate. They are often at odds with one another and wanting Jun to give one of them attention, but they are also highly sensitive to others’ feelings and share a strong bond with Jun and the rest of the team. Biography
Physical Appearance[]
Wu and Wei share a golden body with a cream underbelly and yellow eyes. Both heads have frills on the sides, long horns, eyebrows, whiskers and goatees, but Wu's neck, wing and tail fin are blue while Wei's neck, wing and tail fin are red.
Personality[]
Wu and Wei are a prideful, but mischievous, Mist Twister. While Wu is cool-headed, calm and quiet, Wei is hotheaded, fiery and aggressive. Though they share the same body, they often fight with each other, either wanting Jun to give either one of them attention, which head she should ride on, or which direction they want to go. They do have a sense of humor, as they laughed at Jun stumbling off their heads into the underground lake during their first meeting.
Despite their conflicting attitudes and prideful disposition, Wu and Wei are very sociable and playful towards other dragons they befriend. They both possess good friendships with the other dragons in the Club and will occasionally be seen playing with them. Like the other Club dragons, they possess a very strong and affectionate bond with their rider, Jun, even though they occasionally disobey her. During more serious situations, however, namely during battle, Wu and Wei will obey orders from Jun or others, often without question, showing that they know to be serious and obedient when the time calls for it. They are also much more sensitive than either lets on, as both desire Jun's attention, often with one head fighting to get more than the other, with either becoming noticeably saddened when he feels Jun isn't focusing on him. This has also made both heads jealous of other dragons who capture Jun's attention and affection, namely the young Bubblehorn Nibbles.
They have also been seen to comfort Jun when she's scared. In "It Flies in the Family", when she was frightened by the appearance of Webmaster the Deadly Spinner, due to his spider-like appearance, Wu and Wei wrapped their tail around her for protection. In "Hearts of Heroes", Wu and Wei flew away with Jun, comforting her after she becomes accidentally offended by Tom. Every time Tom's presence was near theirs, they would keep getting mad and growl at him to stay away from Jun. However, after Tom and Jun made amends, they started liking Tom again. This proves that Wu and Wei are empathetic, knowing and understanding what Jun feels, and will do everything in their power to protect her.
Abilities, Talents, and Skills[]
Ice and Fire breathing: As a Mist Twister, the left head, Wu, is able to breath ice, while the right head, Wei, is able to breath fire. When combining their contrasting elemental attacks, Wu and Wei are capable of producing large amounts of a mist-like haze that can help them evade or blind enemies. In addition, after receiving training from Jun, Wu learned how to focus his ice breath into forming large solid objects for freezing or defending themselves from enemies.
Strength: Wu and Wei are shown to be strong, being able to break through crystal (only weakened by their combined fire). They can also throw Jun from one head to the other with little effort.
Swimming: Being in the Tidal Class, Wu and Wei can easily swim through the water. As seen in "In Too Deep", Wu and Wei were seen swimming in the Giant Realms waters hundreds of feet deep, even reaching the seabed with ease. There wings act like huge fins to allow them to traverse the waters. In "Hobs and Saw", they were seen sleeping in the small lake within the Dragon Club's cave.
Circus Tricks: Thanks to Jun's training, Wu and Wei have been able to perform a variety of special tricks and techniques.
Circle of Protection: Wu makes a circle of solid ice around himself, and then Wei breathes fire on it, creating an explosion of steam that knocks out anything on the outside of it within a short distance. It is very useful for non-aerial fights.
Relationships[]
Jun Wong[]
Main article: Jun and Wu and Wei's Relationship |
Jun is Wu and Wei's rider, whom they met in "A Hole New World", when she had accidentally stumbled into their domain while fleeing from a group of aggressive Gembreakers. Their relationship started out rocky, however, with Jun's attempts to train the Mist Twister failing each time, due to her relying too much on information based off of mythological stories. When Jun started to show humility and respect for Wu and Wei, the dragon started to trust her and she bonded with both heads, allowing Wu and Wei to accept Jun as their rider. Since then, Wu and Wei share a close and loving bond with Jun, with each head vying for her affections at times. They are shown to be very protective of Jun during dangerous situations and are unafraid to risk their safety to defend her. Jun, in turn, loves both heads equally and is very affectionate to them. Despite their bond, Wu and Wei will occasionally disobey Jun during less dangerous situations, much to her chagrin. But for the most part, they show such great love to Jun that they go through every length to comfort and protect her, even enough to wrap their long tail around her.
Eugene Wong[]
Eugene is the older brother of Jun. Most likely due to the siblings' initially strained relationship, Wu and Wei were at first very unwelcoming towards Eugene when he learned about the secret of the Dragon Club, despite him being impressed with the two-headed dragon. Because of this, they would often threateningly snarl at him and refused to allow him to pet them. They also didn't appreciate having to fly him around during the search for a dragon for him to train in the Crystal Realm. Despite this, Wu and Wei were still protective of Eugene when the Club was attacked by a pack of Flame Throwers.
Even after Eugene bonded with Webmaster and joined the Club, Wu and Wei still maintain a disliking of Eugene, being irritated by his attempts to take command of the Club's dragons and often snarling at him whenever he disturbs them. Despite this, they still recognize him as a comrade and will protect him when the situation calls for it.
Tom Kullersen[]
Wu and Wei share a good friendship with Tom. Upon meeting, Tom was instantly impressed with Wu and Wei, particularly for having two separate heads. Like with other dragons in Dragon Club, Tom is shown to care about Wu and Wei's wellbeing and was worried about them and the others during the Fault Ripper's earthquakes. Wu and Wei likewise respect Tom, and neither head held any issue with him riding them during the search for Thunder in the Hidden World.
However, although they respect Tom, Wu and Wei can become aggressive towards him if he even unintentionally offends Jun as seen in "Hearts of Heroes", but they can forgive him if Tom reconciles with Jun.
D'Angelo Baker[]
Wu and Wei, or more specifically Wu, was the first dragon D'Angelo had ever ridden, though the experience wasn't very pleasant for him. Initially, having never seen an actual dragon before, D'Angelo was scared of the Mist Twister and was terrified at having to fly on them through the Kullersen Fissure. After bonding with Plowhorn and joining the Dragon Club, however, D'Angelo warmed up to Wu and Wei and lost all his previous fear of them. Despite this, Wu and Wei, like other dragons and their riders, can be annoyed by D'Angelo at times and do little to hide it.
Alexandra Gonzalez[]
Wu and Wei first met Alex alongside Thunder and Plowhorn, when she was wandering in woods near the Dragon Club's cave in "Featherhide". Having never seen actual dragons before, Alex was initially afraid of the them, including Wu and Wei, though she quickly warmed up to them after bonding with Feathers and joining the Dragon Club. Since then they are shown to have a good friendship with each other.
Thunder[]
Wu and Wei have been shown to possess a great deal of respect for Thunder, and the two are good friends. They follow Thunder's lead into battle without question, showing that they respect him as their leader and will follow his orders without hesitation. When not in battle, they will sometimes play with Thunder and the other dragons inside the Club's secret cave.
Plowhorn[]
Wu and Wei initially had a rocky relationship with Plowhorn when they first met in "Dragon Club". Though Wu and Wei sympathized with Plowhorn's injuries, she was initially aggressive towards them, and would attack when they got too close. After she bonded with D'Angelo and became the Club's third dragon, she became on good terms with Wu and Wei. They have been shown to work well alongside each other in battle and will occasionally play together too. In "Magma Breather", it was revealed that Jun had secretly trained both Plowhorn and Wu and Wei how to perform various "circus tricks" together, which they both seem to enjoy doing.
Feathers[]
Like with Thunder and Plowhorn, Wu and Wei possess a very good and playful friendship with Feathers, having gotten along with her since she bonded with Alex in "Featherhide". Both Wu and Wei welcomed her openly and often play hide and seek games with her inside the Dragon Club's cave. They have also been shown to work effectively in battle and trust each other during dangerous situations.
Webmaster[]
Webmaster is the dragon that is ridden by the brother of Wu and Wei's rider, Jun. Similar to how Wu and Wei treat Eugene, they have been shown to be unfriendly towards Webmaster, despite the Deadly Spinner's attempts to be friends. This is most likely due to both Webmaster being Eugene's dragon, as well being annoyed by the dragon's occasionally mischievous, yet still lighthearted, behavior in the Club.
Though Wu and Wei's often coldness hurts Webmaster's feelings, the Deadly Spinner still considers the two-headed dragon a friend and ally. This sentiment is also shared by Wu and Wei, though they rarely show it. During missions, both dragons are shown to work effectively together and are willing to both fight alongside and protect one another from danger.
Nibbles[]
Wu and Wei took and instant dislike to Nibbles upon first meeting the young Bubblehorn in "Uniconned", being very jealous of how Jun was doting towards him while seemingly overlooking both of them entirely. Later that night, however, Wu and Wei fought to defeat Nibbles' flock in order to return him to the Hidden World, before working with Jun and the others to destroy the massive bumble-bomb that the Bubblehorns had created to blow up ICARIS. Wu and Wei would later fight Nibbles again in "Follow the Lightning, Part 1" when the young Bubblehorn and his pack attacked the Dragon Club while they were searching for Thunder in the Hidden World. During this battle, Wu managed to successfully entrap both a furious Nibbles and his flock in ice, much to the two-headed dragon's satisfaction.
Shadow[]
Unlike Nibbles, Wu and Wei didn't seem to mind as much when Jun doted on Shadow, as seen when she hugged him and said goodbye to him near the end of "The Night Lights, Part 2", as Wu and Wei nuzzled both Jun and Shadow, showing that they had no jealousy towards the baby Night Light.
Olivia Kullersen[]
While they rarely interact, they understand that Olivia is the mother of their club's human leader, Tom, and will protect her at any cost. She, like her son, was also impressed about their two heads and their abilities.
May Wong[]
Wu and Wei officially meet Jun's mother, May Wong, for the first time in "Deep Freeze" after safely securing the helicopter that Olivia and Philip were using. She, in turn, was shocked and speechless when she saw the two-headed dragon up close. Over season 6, they came to respect and care about her like they do with Jun. In return, May began respect them and their friendship with her daughter, and she took the duty of protecting dragons, including them, very seriously.
When Jörmungandr threatened all life in the Hidden World and on the surface, she knew that the kids would be sad if ICARIS closed down and the dragons had to return to hiding. Though she was sad Wu and Wei and the dragons did go back to the Hidden World to stay hidden, she still loved them enough to keep their existence a secret.
Buzzsaw[]
Wu and Wei didn't trust Buzzsaw at first and after his true identity was exposed they view Buzzsaw as both a threat and enemy due to his unhinged and aggressive nature and need to kill him and his friends.
In "Of Gods and Monsters", Buzzsaw came to the riders for help when Jack was injured from an attack by the World Serpent. Wu and Wei felt distrustful of the logger, especially after trying to harm them and their friends, but when they saw that Buzzsaw was telling the truth and fully bonded with Jack, they began to trust him a little. Buzzsaw also repaid their help by telling them where Sledkin's secret lab was and helping the dragons injured by Jörmungandr while the riders stopped the serpent.
Wilma Sledkin[]
When Jun was happy to show Sledkin the Hidden World Wu and Wei didn't think nothing much of it however while Sledkin was riding Wu's head she kept hurting him making the dragon very annoyed, and as Sledkin grew more evil like almost killing the Riders and the dragons in a cave-in like the other dragons Sledkin is an enemy of Wu and Wei.
