Physical Appearance[]

Thunder is a slender, male Night Light who bears a strong resemblance to his ancestor Toothless, having the stature and black scales of a Night Fury as well as the pure white scales of a Light Fury Surrounding his mouth, a thin streak going up his face and running from his lower jaw to the tip of his tail and on his feet. He has a series of large triangular spines lining down his back to his tail. He also has piercing blue eyes, similar to the Light Fury he is descended from. However, unlike Night Furies, Light Furies and original Night Lights, Thunder doesn't possess a dual tailfin. Instead, he possesses a three-pronged "tail spade" in the shape of "Poseidon's Trident", with an additional fin between the main two that can be tucked in when not in use. He also has toe pads on his feet like cats and dogs, and a deep chest like some dogs; which are other features that neither Night Furies, Light Furies nor the original Night Lights were known to possess. His wings and the first pair of fins on his tail are narrower than that of a Night Fury. His scales are as mostly smooth like his mother's, but he has inherited his father's rougher, more defined scales on his forelegs.

Personality[]

Like his ancestors, Thunder is shown to be intelligent and curious, as he was as intrigued about Tom as the boy was of him; the dragon took him to a secluded cavern where they could figure out more about each other. His intelligence is also shown when he recognizes the sound of Tom's axe as a way of summoning him to the boy's location and recognizing Jun, D'Angelo and Alex as allies. He also recognized those related to his rider, like recognizing Olivia Kullersen as Tom's mother. Like his rider, Thunder is compassionate and understanding towards others, allowing him to make quick friends with the other dragons in the cave. Despite being good-natured, he can be controlling, as he wanted a reluctant Tom to eat his share of the frozen fish nuggets the dragon was offering him and wouldn't hesitate to resort to threatened aggression to force him to. Thunder is also protective and brave, as he was willing to dive into danger to protect Tom and his other companions. Like most dragons, Thunder loves fish, and his diet consists mostly of it.

Like his rider, Thunder possesses strong leadership qualities, being able to rally the dragons of the other riders to follow him despite them all being from entirely different species. Even without Tom riding him into battle, Thunder is shown to be highly capable in formulating efficient combat tactics that have saved both the Club's riders and dragons on a few occasions. When in battle, Thunder can be extremely fierce and aggressive, and is unabridged of using powerful attacks to hurt his foes. Despite this, Thunder will not kill his enemies and always makes sure that his attacks aren't lethal.

Having been separated from his kind, Thunder is shown to be lonely at times, desiring to find other members of his species. When he and Tom were riding through the fissure during a thunderstorm, he immediately headed for the storm clouds upon hearing the thunder, hoping to find other Night Lights and was saddened when he failed to find any. Thunder maintains a strong desire to find and be reunited with his family once again.

The most defining traits of Thunder's personality come through in his bond with Tom. Thunder is extremely loyal to his rider, and will always come to his defense when he is in trouble, no matter how dangerous the situation. The extent of Thunder's loyalty to Tom is shown when he complied to Tom's orders in leading the other dragons back to the Hidden World for their own safety, despite this risking the possibility that they would never see each other again. Thunder also doesn't seem to like being away from Tom's side very long and worries for him greatly when he undertakes difficult tasks by himself. This was shown during "Magma Breather", when Thunder disobeyed Tom and followed him as he and his mother were journeying through the caves of Sector 2, out of fear of the dangers Tom might face within the caves. This is most likely out of Thunder's own fear of losing those that are close to him following his forceful separation from his family. Once again when Thunder unleashed the ultimate dragon predator to save his rider and friends.

Thunder does, however, hold grudges as well, as he possessed an intense desire for revenge on the Skrill that drove him and his family apart. This grudge was so deep that the Night Light was even willing to fire warning shots at Tom, despite of the strong bond they shared, just so that he could battle the Skrill alone. This shows that, like his rider, Thunder also possesses a sort of loner disposition and does like to do and keep things to himself at times. After being nearly defeated by the Skrill, however, Thunder came to be more accepting of his rider and friends' assistance in such matters, undergoing a similar experience to that of Tom following the battle.

When Olivia sees Thunder in Season 5, he could see that she was afraid of him, and tried to show her that he meant no harm. One point of showing that was when he was in between trying to play peacekeeper in their dome. He placed his head on her lap and purred at her to show her that he too expresses worry and love out of fear of losing loved ones. As she opened herself up to him some more, he continued to show her the same love and fondness he has for Tom, like he thinks of her as a human mother figure.

Thunder loves his family very much and was extremely worried when they were attacked by Jörmungandr in Season 8. He grieved for the Elder Night Light moments after he passed on his Alpha Mode and Title to him before he passed away from his injuries. Immediately afterwards, Thunder took charge of his new status to not allow the Elder's passing to be in vain and defeat Jörmungandr once and for all in which he succeeded with Tom. He also understood that dragons would likely never be safe in the Human World, just as Toothless and Hiccup realized, and knew it was best for him to separate from Tom for his safety and for his own safety. As much as it pained both him and Tom, Thunder knew it was for the best before he bid Tom and the riders farewell before returning to the Hidden World one last time.

Abilities, Talents, and Skills[]

Thunder Cloak

Thunder cloaking himself

  • Plasma blast: Thunder's plasma blasts can be mixed with the electrical charges he produces, capable of knocking a Gembreaker dragon down but only for a short period of time.
  • Electrical charges: Thunder has the ability to produce electricity from his body and send out small electrical beams at small objects like Tom's flashlight or sent out a large shockwave of it to disable security cameras and lights. However, certain electrical devices, such as ICARIS' motion detecting spotlights, will only be deactivated from these blasts for a short while if they possess a backup generator. He can also use the electrical charges to increase his speed in flight and not only can he emit electricity but absorb it into his body making his charges even stronger.
  • Cloaking: Like a Light Fury, Thunder is able to cloak himself by firing a Plasma Blast in front of him and diving right into it. However, this ability doesn't work to its fullest when Thunder is being ridden by Tom, who remains visible.
  • Stealth: Outside of cloaking, Thunder has shown to be pretty stealthy as he and the other dragons followed their riders without being heard or seen and could evade Tom's mother when she and his rider were cave exploring.
  • Speed: Thunder is capable of going the same speed as his ancestors due to his Night Light physiology. By adjusting parts of his tail spade, he is able to perform quick aerial maneuvers in mid-flight.
    • Dive-Bombing: Like both Light and Night Furies, Thunder is capable of performing dive-bombing-like maneuvers in which he folds his wings to create a streamlined, aerodynamic shape as he dives from high altitudes. This not only grants incredible downward speeds, but also increases the strength of his plasma blasts for greater damage while also being accurately guided towards its target. Thunder, however, is unable to use this ability to his fullest when confined to an enclosed space while flying, such as the narrow paths of the Kullersen Fissure.
  • Intelligence: Due to being a Strike Class dragon, Thunder has proven himself to be very clever and smart as he has a great memory upon remembering the symbol of his dragon class. He also displays this when he can recognize his rider and those he's closest to, like knowing Tom's mother and friends. His intelligence was also displayed when he used the dragons' combined firepower to sneak away unnoticed and when he commanded them to use all their combined power to blast the webs of the Spiderwings.
  • Leadership: Thunder possesses inherent leadership qualities, much like his companion, the rider. He assumes the role of a valiant commander, skillfully guiding formidable dragons into the thick of battle, while also nurturing harmonious cooperation among these majestic creatures. Despite being featured in Heart of Glass, Thunder did not receive much respect from the other dragons. They displayed their lack of regard by abandoning him and opting to eat at the deli solely for their own sustenance. Despite Thunder's vocal roar, the other dragons remained unconcerned and simply stared at him before walking away. In their unfamiliar territory, when the Thunder faction emerged, they encountered trepidation in coexisting with the imposing and daunting presence of the Glass Caster. This apprehension led them to disperse, leaving Thunder isolated. Thunder quickly located them and made an effort to assist in keeping them grounded instead of soaring in the air. He discovered Feathers, whose wing was injured, and sympathetically revealed his own wounded wing to provide solace. Subsequently, he successfully guided them onward. Once he regained the dragons' respect, he eagerly fostered a cooperative spirit among them, confidently reclaiming his role as their revered leader.
  • Heredity Alpha Control: Thunder may have inherited the alpha control ability from his ancestor, Toothless, just like his grandfather. However, it is possible that this power has its limitations, as his grandfather did not demonstrate much of this ability on rider dragons or enemies. Nonetheless, Thunder was able to exhibit his electric power against Deadly Nadders, instilling fear in them and granting him the control he desired.
  • Retractable Teeth: Like his ancestor Toothless, Thunder has also inherited retractable teeth that allowed him to open the lock to Jörmungandr‎‎'s cage.
  • RP2-198-Tom-Thunder-Sword

    Thunder in Alpha Mode

Alpha mode: in Ragnarok: Part 2 when Elder Night Light was badly injured during his battle with Jörmungandr. He passed on his Alpha Mode and title down to Thunder before he passed away moments later. With his form, like the Elder, Thunder's entire body glows light blue light. This form also allows him to get help larger dragons such as the Sky Torcher and Fault Ripper. Like Toothless's Alpha Mode, Thunder's Alpha Mode also gives him powerful firepower enough to stun Jormungandr. Thunder is able use a fully powered up electric blast with Tom's Lighting sword blast powerful enough to defeat Jörmungandr once and for all.

Jun Wong[]

Jin letting Thunder (1x2)

Jun affectionately petting Thunder

Thunder understood Jun was another ally when she came into the dragon's cave with Tom, as she correctly deduced that Tom was hiding a dragon. Upon first meeting him, Jun was amazed that her belief in dragons was proven correct and took an immediate fondness for Thunder, especially when he gazed at her in a gentle, curious manner. Realizing she was a friend of his partner, Thunder allowed Jun to touch him and playfully rolled in excitement as she petted him. At Tom's request, he and Thunder took Jun on a flight to the Hidden World. Though she was at first frightened on having to ride atop of a flying dragon for the first time, Jun was quickly amazed by the stunning sights she saw as she rode on Thunder, being brought to tears of joy by its beauty. During the flight, Jun affectionately patted Thunder on the head, grateful to the Night Light for all that he had shown her.

After arriving at the Hidden World, when Tom told Thunder to save Jun from the Gembreaker dragons, he obeyed but Jun fell into a crystal cave before Thunder could save her. This, however, inadvertently led to Jun finding her own dragon, the Mist Twister Wu and Wei. After this event, Jun and Thunder remain close friends, with them caring about each other's safety and looking out for each other, despite not being partners.

In "Hearts of Heroes", he came to understand that Tom's closeness to Jun had grown into a relationship to where they really like each other. Thunder shows this understanding by being visibly concerned when Tom and Jun were arguing, and nudging Tom whenever the latter hesitates to confess to Jun. He even brought them a picnic for their first official date in "Eugene's Lean Mean Extreme Dream Team".

D'Angelo Baker[]

DC-95-Tom-D'Angelo-Thunder

Thunder showing affection towards D'Angelo

When D'Angelo first met Thunder, the dragon was very friendly towards him, showing him affection by nuzzling into his face. D'Angelo, however, who had never seen an actual dragon before was frightened by Thunder causing him to back away only to meet Wu and Wei before fainting, earning a surprised look from the Night Light. After he had regained consciousness, D'Angelo was intent on telling his father about Thunder and the other dragons, revealing their existence. D'Angelo later warmed up to Thunder, however, during his treatment of the injured Gembreaker Plowhorn. After taking Plowhorn as his dragon and joining Dragon Club, D'Angelo came to see the beauty of dragons including Thunder, and decided to guard their existence as well. Since then, Thunder and D'Angelo have become comrades with each other, and have shown significant camaraderie with each other.

Like with the other riders in the Club, Thunder cares about D'Angelo's wellbeing, though he can be annoyed by D'Angelo's occasionally goofy disposition. D'Angelo likewise cares about Thunder's wellbeing and is willing to help him during intense situations.

Alexandra Gonzalez[]

BICOE-149-Alex-Thunder

Thunder first met Alex in "Featherhide" when she accidentally bumped into him and the other dragons in the woods outside of ICARIS, while she was searching for his rider Tom. When they first encountered each other, Thunder was friendly towards Alex, warmly smiling at her. Due to having never seen real dragons before, though, Alex was initially terrified of him Plowhorn, and Wu and Wei, running away in fright. After bonding with Feathers and then joining the Dragon Club, Alex overcame her fear of Thunder entirely, and the two have since formed a good friendship with each other. Both care about each other's wellbeing and are willing to help one another during battle and other serious situations. Like the other riders, Alex was shown to be concerned about Thunder's wellbeing when he journeyed into the Hidden World to face his old rival, and journeyed after him to find him. Thunder likewise has expressed concern for Alex during whenever she finds herself in danger and is always willing to come to her defense.

Eugene Wong[]

HOG-326-Eugene-Thunder-Webmaster

Thunder yelling at Eugene to be quiet

When Eugene discovered the secret of dragons, he initially attempted to expose the secret of their existence, causing him and Thunder to briefly be enemies though they had no physical interaction with each other during this time. When Eugene and Thunder finally met, Eugene was deeply impressed with his electrical abilities, but Thunder didn't trust him yet, so refused to allow Eugene to pet/touch him and acted very aggressively towards him in the Dragon Club's cave. Their relationship improved, however, after Eugene bonded with his Deadly Spinner, Webmaster, and joined the Club, making him and Thunder allies. Despite this, Thunder is shown to like Eugene the least out of all the riders in the Club, due to his immature and somewhat bossy personality. Despite this, he does care about Eugene's wellbeing and works alongside him and Webmaster during the Club's missions. In "Magma Comes to the Surface", Eugene protected Thunder when Buzzsaw attempted to attack him, showing that the boy, likewise, cares about the Night Light's wellbeing. Thus, though they don't usually show it, Thunder and Eugene do genuinely consider each other friends and comrades. But as shown in "Heart of Glass", Thunder is not above asserting his authority on Eugene, and shows this by quieting the latter when he berated Tom for his failure to keep Sledkin from escaping, even roaring at Eugene just to silence him.

Olivia Kullersen[]

MB-Olivia and Thunder

Thunder flying behind Olivia

Dr. Kullersen is the mother of Thunder's rider Tom. Though they had yet to officially meet, Thunder encountered Olivia on a few occasions, all which occurred without her knowledge. During these encounters, Thunder often came to Olivia's aid when she was in danger, such as when she and Philip Baker were being attacked by the Fault Ripper and later when she and Tom nearly fell into a cavern while exploring the caves around the fissure. During the former event, Olivia briefly caught a glimpse of Thunder flying through the air to protect her, but her vision was blurred and her memory impaired due to a head injury at the time, thus preventing her from discovering Thunder's existence.

Thunder seems to recognize that Olivia is Tom's mother and for that he doesn't wish any harm to come to her as seen in the episode "Magma Breather". Despite this, Thunder still kept his distance from Olivia in order to avoid her and the other Rakke Corp workers from discovering the existence of dragons like him and the rest of the Dragon Club members.

PAT-Olivia-Thunder

Thunder cuddling Olivia

In "The Night Lights, Part 2", Thunder finally and officially met Olivia face-to-face after he and Tom have flown back into the Dragon's Lair, which she found through footage from Tom's drone leaving them shocked and in a nervous position. Like Tom, in "Punishment and Torcher", he tried to show her that he was her son's best friend and was even willing to let her touch him. But because she was hurt by the fact that Tom kept a secret for so long, she punished him by grounding him until she could trust him again, but she was willing to keep his secret from the rest of ICARIS until she could deal with the situation. Even when Thunder came because he needed Tom's help to save the others from Buzzsaw, Olivia still wasn't willing to let Tom go with him because of his lies. But when Tom pointed out how he lied to protect Thunder from Rakke Corp and how she would never give him a chance to earn her trust again, Thunder settled his head on her lap, showing that he had the same respect and love for her as he did to her son. She finally pet him and let them go rescue the others, despite her fear of possibly losing Tom.

Throughout Season 5, she eventually grew to show the same love she had for her son to Thunder, like on her first flight to the Hidden World with them, and when she hugged him for saving her from the pack of Speed Stingers in "Sting It On!". But she knew this was much for her to keep to herself, and she claimed she needed to tell the other ICARIS parents about this, because she felt that they deserve to know. She was grateful to Thunder when he and Tom saved her from plummeting into the Fissure, and was relieved when, under Tom realizing she was right about letting the secret come out, that she no longer had to struggle with keeping their existence to herself. After that, she stood by both of their sides in support to show that the dragons can be friends with humans if they promise to respect and protect them. Thunder loves Olivia and seems to think of her like a human mother figure. And Olivia loves Thunder like a second son.

After Buzzsaw's attack on Rakke Town Olivia was very hesitant about letting Tom return to the Hidden World fearing what the Lumberjack would do to him but allows him to only because she trusts Thunder will keep him out of trouble. When Jörmungandr threatened all life in the Hidden World and on the surface, she knew that the kids would be sad if ICARIS closed down and the dragons had to return to hiding. Though she was sad Thunder and the dragons did go back to the Hidden World to stay hidden, she still loved Thunder enough to keep his existence a secret.

Wu and Wei[]

Thunder-Wu-&-Wei

Thunder and Wu and Wei's friendship was instant and they both seemed to be in sync when they growled at the large hole left by a Fault Ripper Dragon. Since the formation of the Dragon Club, Thunder has proven to be good friends with Wu and Wei, with the latter following Thunder's lead into battle without question, showing that the Mist Twister holds great respect for the Night Light as his leader. In addition, they, along with the other Dragon Club dragons, occasionally play together.

Plowhorn[]

Thunder-&-Plowhorn

Thunder first met Plowhorn in the Crystal Realm after she was injured by a group of other Gembreakers. At first, Thunder was hesitant of the female Gembreaker due to her species' aggressive nature, but still aided Tom, Jun, and D'Angelo's attempts to treat her injuries. Despite this, Plowhorn was initially unwelcoming towards them and attacked them when they got to close.

However, when the Night Light saw that Plowhorn was bullied by the other Gembreakers, he didn't hesitate to fight for her along with Wu and Wei. Following the battle, Thunder and Plowhorn became on good terms and quickly developed a playful friendship with each other. Since the formation of the Dragon Club, Thunder and Plowhorn have proven to be effective teammates in battle. Plowhorn also has no problems following Thunder's lead during engagements with other dragons, showing that she respects him as her leader.

Feathers[]

FH-297-Tom-Thunder-Feathers

Feathers Licking Thunder

Thunder possesses a very strong sibling-like bond with Feathers, with him often acting like something of an older brother-figure to the young Featherhide. Thunder was initially curious of Feathers when he and the other dragons first see her. After bringing her back to the lair cave, the Night Light played with Feathers showing his playful side and helping the shy Featherhide come out of her shell little by little. Since then, they share a very playful bond with each other and work well together when in combat. Like the other dragons, Feathers follows Thunder's lead without question and acknowledges him as the leader of the Club's dragons.

In "Dragons of the Undead", when Feathers was abducted by the molting Featherhides, Thunder was shown to be very worried for her and fought hard to rescue her. Likewise, in "Follow the Lightning, Part 1", Feathers was shown to be upset that Thunder had left and was willing to face many perils in the secret chasms of the Hidden World to find him.

HOG-211-Thunder-Feathers

Thunder Comforting Feathers

In "Heart of Glass", Thunder and Plowhorn finds Wu and Wei trying to pull Feathers out of a hole she's hiding in, she's still injured from the earlier attack by the Glass Caster. Thunder shows he is still going despite being similarly injured and convinces her to come out of the hole. He then rallies the dragons to look for Webmaster and go after the Glass Caster.

Webmaster[]

Thunder-&-Webmaster

Webmaster is the latest dragon to join the Dragon Club under Thunder and Tom's leadership. Despite this, Thunder, along with the other dragons in the Club, has not been very welcoming of Webmaster, despite the dragon's attempts to be friends. This is because Thunder is often annoyed by his many mischievous acts since joining the Club, much to the Deadly Spinner's sadness. Despite this, Thunder does care about Webmaster's wellbeing, even if he doesn't initially show it. While on mission together, the two are shown to work very well together, with Webmaster respecting the Night Light as his leader, while Thunder is willing to protect the Deadly Spinner from harm.

Fissure Fault Ripper[]

Thunder-&-Fault-Ripper

Initially, Thunder and the Fissure Fault Ripper started out as enemies, due to the earthquakes caused by the latter's tunneling under ICARIS which endangered the safety of the former and the other Dragon Club dragons. When the Fault Ripper attacked Olivia, Tom's mother, Thunder, without hesitation, joined his rider in fighting the fearsome dragon in the Fissure. During this battle, the fearsome Boulder Class dragon proved to be a formidable opponent and nearly killed both Thunder and his rider when the dragon attempted to drag them down into the bottom of the Fissure as it was falling, though fortunately Thunder and Tom managed to survive.

In "The Sky Torcher", after Thunder, Tom, Jun, Wu and Wei found the Fault Ripper still alive at the bottom of the Fissure, the Night Light remained on hostile terms with him, with two quickly engaging into another skirmish. After Tom managed to tame the Fault Ripper, however, Thunder became on much better terms with him, with the two mending their antagonism towards each and other and working well together to vanquish the invading Sky Torcher and his Flame Thrower pack as they sought to destroy the Crystal Realm. During this battle, the Fault Ripper, along with several other dragons from Crystal Realm, arrived in time to rescue Thunder and the rest of Dragon Club when they were cornered by the Sky Torcher and helped them significantly in driving it back to the Fire Realm. Despite their improved relationship as allies, Thunder has been shown to be slightly envious at times whenever his rider, Tom, shows affection towards the larger dragon.

In the series finale, after Thunder became the new King of the Nine Realms, he summoned the Fissure Fault Ripper to help him fight Jörmungandr, and the large dragon obeyed his every command, indicating that the Fault Ripper now respects Thunder as his new King.

Thunder and Shadow

Thunder and Shadow happily reunited.

Shadow[]

Shadow is Thunder's little brother. Thunder and Shadow love each other dearly and play like any pair of brothers do. When Thunder found Shadow in one of Buzzsaw's traps, Shadow at first hid behind him, scared of Tom. But with Tom's reassurance and assistance, Shadow quickly warmed up to Tom and the other riders when they brought him back to the Dragon Club's hideout. Thunder became very happy to be reunited with his baby brother and the rest of his family when they arrived in the King's Realm.

Goggles and Splattertail[]

Thunder, Goggles, and Splattertail happily reunited.

Goggles and Splattertail are Thunder's other younger siblings. Thunder became very happy to be reunited with his younger siblings. Like Shadow, they share the same playful nature and love to play around with others.

Thunder and his Mother

Thunder and his Mother happily reunited.

Mother and Father[]

Thunder loves his parents, and was very happy to be reunited with them. He and his mother head cuddled while she gave him a loving lick.

When his parents were badly injured in Ragnarok Part 1 after fending off Jörmungandr and saving the King's Realm, Thunder was worried. But after defeating the World Serpent and becoming the new Dragon King, they recovered and looked proudly at him.

The Elder[]

TNLP1-224-Thunder-Elder

Thunder and his Grandfather happily reunited.

Thunder loves and respects his grandfather, who also is the leader of the clan, and was very happy to be reunited with him. The Elder became distrustful of Tom and the other humans after an accident with his lightning sword which was caused by Shadow. Thus, he forced Thunder to stay with his family. However, after seeing how well Thunder cooperated with Tom, and how they defeated the Snow Wraiths, the Elder was very thankful to the kids for helping him and saving the Clan, he even allowed Thunder to stay with Tom.

When his grandfather is badly injured in Ragnarok Part 1 after fending off Jörmungandr and saving the King's Realm, Thunder was devastated, and he and Tom stayed behind while the other riders continued their assault on the serpent.

The Elder Passed Away

Thunder grieves for his grandfather's passing.

In Ragnarok Part 2, the Elder sacrificed himself to protect his grandson from Jörmungandr. In his final moments, he passed the Alpha title and mode on to Thunder, showing how much he loved and trusted his grandson, having witnessed his relationship with Tom as he passed away moments later. Thunder finished what was started by avenging his grandfather and taking over as King.

His Nemesis[]

Thunder facing his nemesis

Thunder hatefully facing his arch-enemy for separating him from his Family.

Thunder's arch-rival/nemesis is a Titan Wing Skrill, who is responsible of getting him separated from his family. At an unknown point before meeting Tom, the Skrill attacked Thunder and his tribe, presumably in a territorial skirmish. Though Thunder survived the encounter, his family was driven away, leaving him all alone for an unspecified amount of time, until he met Tom.

Due to this, Thunder possesses a strong hatred for the Skrill and was willing to fight to the death with it just to get his revenge. When Thunder managed to pick up the Skrill's scent, he was willing to journey deep into dangerous sections of the Hidden World to find and fight him, only to be defeated once again by the massive dragon. Despite this, Thunder was undeterred and continued to pursue the Skrill into its territory, intent on settling the score.

Thunder's hatred for the Skrill is so deep that he disobeyed Tom's plea to stop despite their close bond, and even fired warning shots at the boy in an attempt to prevent him from getting involved in the fight. However, Thunder eventually realized he couldn't defeat his nemesis alone, and accepted Tom's help, allowing them to finally defeat the Skrill together. It's possible that Thunder became satisfied with their grudge, and considered the matter closed, as he made no attempt to finish the Skrill off after it was knocked out from his enhanced plasma blast, and even allowed the Skrill to escape into another section of the Hidden World without pursuing it.

Leonard Burne (Buzzsaw)[]

Leonard Burne, AKA Buzzsaw, is the former owner of the Burne Lumber Company. During "Downpour", Buzzsaw's logging company was destroyed in massive forest fire, after which he caught a glimpse of Thunder just as he was de-cloaking in the sky overhead. Upon seeing Thunder, whom he calls the "Lightning Bird", Buzzsaw instantly believed that the dragon was responsible for the fire that destroyed his business and swore revenge on him, even though the fire was actually caused by Buzzsaw himself.

Following this incident, Buzzsaw obsessively searched for Thunder for weeks in the forests around the Kullersen Fissure, determined to slay the Night Light by any means necessary but was continuously met with failure. During this time, however, Thunder was unaware of the mad loggers attempts on his life or even of his existence. In "Magma Comes to the Surface", they finally came to face-to-face when Buzzsaw chopped down a tree that Thunder was hiding behind and immediately attempted to attack him, only to be knocked unconscious by Eugene. Following this, Buzzsaw continued his hunt for Thunder, though had yet to find him once again.

Having met again in Cold Open, Buzzsaw also learned of the dragon having teenage human friends and more dragon friends as well. He continued to target Thunder, but also began trapping other dragons. Buzzsaw eventually created poison darts made from poisonous flowers in the nature realm and used them as a way to blackmail Tom into handing over the Book of Dragons. Though he succeeded, he couldn't read the wording, but managed to figure out some of the pages. He then threatened the young Night Light and his friends by burning parts of ICARIS to claim as his own as well as the Hidden World as his "Kingdom". Though his threats were getting worse, Thunder had confidence that he and the team will stop him at any cost.

In "Of Gods and Monsters", Buzzsaw came to the riders for help when Jack was injured from an attack by the World Serpent. Thunder felt distrustful of the logger, especially after trying to harm him and his friends, but when he saw that Buzzsaw was telling the truth and fully Bonded with Jack, he began to trust him. Buzzsaw also repaid their help by telling them where Sledkin's secret lab was and helping the dragons injured by Jörmungandr while the riders stopped the Serpent. This indicates that Buzzsaw let go of his thirst for revenge against Thunder and respected him as an ally.

Wilma Sledkin[]

After Wilma catches the dragons in "Deep Freeze", she hits Thunder with a tranquilizer dart that spooked him into frying the power generator. She then tried to expose him and the others about to claim that they were trying to hurt everyone, but she paused when she saw that the kids beat her to it. Since then, not only has her dislike for Tom increased, but also for the young Night Light. In return, like his rider, Thunder also dislikes the greedy geologist, especially when she caused a cave-in within the Hidden World where she was illegally mining Dragonsite.

In "Of Gods and Monsters", she tried to steal the Dragonsite gem that provides oxygen for the realms in order to eliminate Thunder and all the dragons so she could take all the gems she wanted. After she failed and fell to her demise, Thunder and Tom both mourned for her loss, indicating he cared for her well-being deep down.

Jörmungandr[]

Jörmungandr was discovered by Tom in the Dark Realm due to Buzzsaw's obsession with the dragon, calling it his Death Dragon, alerting Tom to the risk it would pose to the Hidden World if found by Buzzsaw. Eventually, Tom finds out that it was locked by Hiccup behind a gate in the Dark Realm, showing great fear towards it.

When the Sky Torcher approaches Tom and Thunder opens the gate, Tom yells in desperation, showing that he greatly fears the return of this dragon, even more than the Sky Torcher. He is horrified when Jörmungandr pulls in the massive dragon and injures it severely, nearly killing it, expressing horror at the fact that it is now loose.

Later on, he tries his best efforts to subdue it, setting up ambushes in the Crystal Realm and reading the Book of Dragons to see what he can do to get the serpent back behind the gate.

Tom and Thunder eventually confronts the serpent in the Nature Realm and uses its rage to lure it to the gate like Hiccup with the use of Valka's staff. Tom however realizes that Jörmungandr remembers the trick and is not falling for it twice, instead choosing to now attack him. Tom is knocked out and wakes up to find Thunder facing off with Jörmungandr while his team arrives to help him. When Jörmungandr slithers away from the encounter after they escape its grasp.

When the Kings Realm and family was attacked, helps Tom into making a gate of Gronckle Iron just to contain Jörmungandr, but the serpent tricked him, instead attacking the Gods Realm.

When his grandfather sacrifice himself to save him and Tom, Thunder was saddened that his grandfather gave the Alpha Mode and Title to him before passing away.

Thunder then shows hatred towards Jörmungandr, not holding back attacking it at each turn, but for killing his grandfather, with as much backup as possible.

When he confronts the serpent a final time, he defeats it with great determination and only then does he stop his vengeance, finally dragging Jörmungandr back to its cell.
