How to Train Your Dragon Wiki

The Thor Statue is a giant metal statue of the god Thor created by the Dragon Riders in an attempt to appease Thor.

Function[]

The Thor Statue was created in an attempt to appease Thor and prevent him from causing lightning to strike the Isle of Berk. However, as it is made of metal, it actually attracts lightning, causing it to be too dangerous to keep inside the village. Eventually, the statue becomes a decoration on Snotlout's Sentry Station, this time insulated with rubber to prevent further lightning strikes.

History[]

Dragons: Riders of Berk[]

When lightning began striking Berk on a massive scale, Hiccup and the Dragon Riders decided to build a statue of Thor in an attempt to appease the god of lightning and prevent any further lightning strikes. However, lightning continued to strike Berk en masse, with some bolts even hitting the hammer of the statue. Eventually, it was revealed that the statue's metal was what was attracting the lightning, causing the Vikings of Berk to take it down. Hiccup was saddened to see such hard work go to waste, so Stoick suggested that the Riders take the statue to the far side of the island and leave it there. However, Snotlout and the twins decided to leave the statue in front of Mildew's house, which caused lightning to shock him when it struck the statue as punishment for his attempted banishing of Toothless.

School of Dragons[]

Eventually, Mildew dumped the statue in the ocean, leaving it behind to rest on an outcrop. Snotlout, wanting a decoration for Snotlout's Sentry Station, remembered the statue and asked the player to find it. Upon finding the statue, the player brought it back to Snotlout's Sentry Station and put it on display. However, once again, lighting struck the statue, nearly destroying the telescope and lightly singing a sheep. Snotlout, wanting to keep the statue but also wanting to prevent it from getting struck by lightning anymore, asked the player to talk to Heather in order to find a way to finally prevent lightning from striking the statue. After some tests of various materials with the help of a helpful Skrill's lightning and an Ohmmeter, Heather and the player discovered that rubber was the best insulator. The player returned to Snotlout's Sentry Station and insulated the statue with rubber, finally preventing lightning from striking the statue again.

Dragons: Rise of Berk[]

The Thor Statue was introduced in this game with the 1.48 update, as a seasonal decoration called Thor's Honor. It costs 850 Beltane Butterflies and takes 4 hours to be built on Berk.
