Plot[]

The Dragon Club tries to place a tracking tag on a Terrible Terror to try and get a scop of how big the crystal realm is. Tom and D'Angelo struggle to coordinate while Jun and Alex place the tag with much greater ease. Afterward, Jun finds a strange cave and freaks out when she gets some kind of webbing stuck on her due to her arachnophobia. Tom and D'Angelo consider exploring the cave, but decide against when they see Thunder is wary of it and the group returns to Rakketown.

On the way back home, Tom sees a bird has made its nest on one of the windmills and is in danger of being hurt by the blades. D'Angelo suggests that he calls his dad, but Tom rushes up the windmill on his own and D'Angelo follows him. Tom manages to get the bird, but slips and falls. Luckily, Philip catches him, but he scolds them for being reckless and expresses his disappointment in D'Angelo. Afterward, Tom dismisses Philip's scolding, but D'Angelo blames him for getting in trouble and ignoring the rules. He tells Tom that he is not going to be dragged into his stunts anymore. At dinner, it is clear Philip is still upset with D'Angelo, but Angela reminds Philip he was the same way. Philip blames D'Angelo's behavior on Tom being a bad influence.

While dragon club explores the crystal realm the next day, the animosity between D'Angelo and Tom is prevalent. They spot a new dragon resembling a spider that appears to be lost. Alex deduces that the Spiderwing is from the cave they found yesterday and try to return it, but Tom and D'Angelo's arguing scares the Spiderwing and it latches itself on top of Jun's head. No one is able to get the Spiderwing off and Alex suggests bringing it back to its cave would get it to let go on its own. They bring Jun along with the dragon to the cave that she and Alex go inside the cave to convince the Spiderwing to let go, but Jun freaks out when she touches another web and it startles the dragon into firing webs that seal the entrance. While trying to calm Jun down, Alex accidentally gets her and Jun stuck on a large web and the dragons are unable to break through the webbing blocking the cave. D'Angelo suggests getting his father's bolt cutter, but Tom objects and decides to get his mother's blowtorch. Jun and Alex try to break out of the web as the Spiderwing finally releases itself from Jun's head and the two discover that the Spiderwing is planning to feed them to its unborn young.

Both Tom and D'Angelo's plans fail to cut the webbing and more Spiderwings begin attacking them. Tom and D'Angelo get trapped in a corner by the webbing and their arguing only gets worse. Meanwhile, Jun recalls the story of Anansi, a fictional spider tricker deity from Western Africa, and comes up with plan to escape. Tom and D'Angelo's arguing reaches their peak when D'Angelo accuses Tom of not knowing what a father is like because his abandoned him and his mom. Realizing they've gone too far, they apologize to each otehr and D'Angelo explains his father expects him to follow the rules and relies on his expectations, but dragon club means breaking every rule. He asks Tom to have his back on the surface like he has Tom's back in the crystal realm and the two reconcile. The group's dragons figure out a way to destroy the webbing by combining their firepower and free Tom and D'Angelo. Jun and Alex use cheezie loops that Alex carried to trick the Spiderwings into biting through the webbing holding them and the others unblock the cave entrance. The group escapes through another exit and return to Rakketown.

Later, D'Angelo speaks to his father to apologize about breaking the rules, but defends Tom as his friend and someone who can be relied on. Seeing how Tom and D'Angelo have each other's backs, Philip gives D'Angelo his respect.
