Geography[]

The Sullen Sea is located around the inner isles of the Barbaric Archipelago. Adjacent from the north is Bashem, and adjacent from the east is the Summer Current. To the south lies Mount Villainy, and to the west lies Silence. To the southwest is the Bog-Burglar Islands.

How to Speak Dragonese[]

The Sullen Sea first appears on a map of the Inner Isles at the front of Book 3.

How to Cheat a Dragon's Curse[]

In Book 4 it is winter. It is the "worst winter for 100 years" and the Sullen Sea has frozen over. While frozen, the Vikings take advantage of travel by sleigh instead of boat. It is in the Sullen Sea that the Doomfang catches up to a fleeing Hiccup and snatches the mythical potato from him.

After a fire scorched the Highest Point on Berk, a warm wind scattered the soot across the Sullen Sea.

How to Ride a Dragon's Storm[]

Stoick the Vast and Big-Boobied Bertha made an agreement that if one of them won the Intertribal Friendly Swimming Race, the winner would make Madguts the Murderous row across the Sullen Sea in a bathtub. Neither of them won.
