The Snowtail is a medium-sized dragon with dark purple coloration and white or tan shades on its underbelly and horn. It has a nasal horn, and translucent frills on the side of its face along with two large fin-like spikes at the base of its tail. It sports two small, beard-like barbels on the bottom of its jaw, much like the protrusions around its neck. It has a single pair of legs, and a wyvern-like build, using its wings to support itself as it walks and climbs. Like most dragons, it also possesses an underbite, with a somewhat square lower jaw.

Abilities[]

Resistance to Low Temperatures[]

Living in the Ice Realm of the Hidden World, the Snowtail is highly resistant to low temperatures, allowing them to survive, whereas many other species would freeze to death or hibernate.

Climbing[]

Speed and Agility[]

And run fast on ground to avoid the pack of Speed Stingers

Possibly due to their bipedal stance, Snowtails are adept runners, being able to stay ahead of a pack of Speed Stingers for a short while, an impressive feat considering Speed Stingers, on the ground, are fastest dragons ever discovered. In the air, dragons can keep pace with an adult Gembreaker.

Strength and Combat[]

When agitated or provoked this dragons can easily defend or attack against other dragons like Terrible Terrors 1

When agitated or provoked, these dragons can easily attack and defend against other small dragons, like Terrible Terrors.

Weaknesses[]

Mimicking Dragon Calls[]

A Dragon Hunter or Trapper can imitate the sounds usually made by this species through a carved wooden whistle, to which other Snowtails will attempt to search for the source of the call.

Behavior and Personality[]

Snowtails appear to live in groups, being social dragons like many other species, namely Terrible Terrors. They appear to be very curious and trusting dragons, which can make them vulnerable to Hunters and Trappers. This is likely because they have never seen humans before, and thus wouldn't know enough to be afraid of them.

Training[]

Considering that Snowtails are cousins of Terrible Terrors, this makes them similar in behavior and capability of being trained. One can easily befriend a Snowtail by showing it which direction to go and giving it some food. Another way is to save their life or treat their wounds, as seen in "The Decoy" where the Dragon Riders set them free, and in "Hobs and Saw" when one of them stayed to be examined by D'Angelo.

Appearances[]

Dragons: The Nine Realms[]

Season 4[]

In "Cold Open", as Tom, Jun, and Alex entered the Ice Realm, they saw two Snowtails flying by.

A group of Snowtails were captured by Buzzsaw in "The Decoy", when he lured them into his traps by mimicking their dragon calls. However, they were later set free by the Dragon Club and escaped back into the Ice Realm.

Season 5[]

Once again, a group of Snowtails were captured by Buzzsaw in "Punishment and Torcher".

In "Welcome to the Wonderful World of Dragons", when Tom plans to stage a guided tour of the Hidden World for his mother, Olivia, Alex brings back three Snow Tails from the Ice Realm as part of a group of "friendly dragons". But before Olivia could see them acting naturally, the Scuttleclaw's silent cream caused them to go nuts and get into a fight with some Terrible Terrors. However, once all the dragons have calmed down, D'Angelo lures them back to the Ice Realm with frozen fish nuggets.

In "Sting It On!", the opening shows two Snowtails getting stung by a pack of Speed Stingers and then left paralyzed and frozen. Later, when Tom, Alex and Eugene find Olivia frozen from the Speed Stinger's venom, they also find the two Snowtails in which Eugene questions if they're dead. However, Alex states that they're alive but in some sort of stasis. Eventually, when most of the Speed Stinger pack is frozen themselves, and the venom wears off on everyone else who had been stung, the Snowtails are also able to move again and run away before the venom wears off on the Speed Stingers as well.

Season 6[]

In "Dragons Everywhere!", Tom mentions that he had to bring a couple of Snowtails back into the Ice Realm after they escaped it.

In "Poison Control", the only dragons Buzzsaw has captured is one Snowtail, due to the riders constantly foiling his plans.

Season 7[]

In "Hobs and Saw", at D'Angelo's dragon hospital, one of his patients is an injured or sick Snowtail who is resting on a crate with a pillow. Later, when D'Angelo and his father, Phil, go to the Ice Realm to find Hobs, two Snowtails fly by them as they arrive, which impresses Phil.

Season 8[]

In "The Great Foster Fake-Out", when Buzzsaw returns to Sledkin's lab to practice his sales pitch on Linda and Sledkin, he tries offering them a Snowtail he brought back, which startles Linda. However, Sledkin doesn't want him bothering her, but when Linda finds the Snowtail cute, Sledkin becomes angry as the dragon starts chewing on one her research papers and snatches it off him.

In the same episode, Snowtails were one of the many dragons rescued from the Hidden World to escape Jörmungandr and brought to Rakke Town for the employees to adopt and foster, in which a couple of people are seen doing. Later, when Mr. Rakke arrives, the Snowtails, along with the other dragons, were hidden in the hanger but escaped when the Magma Breather activated the fire alarm, forcing everyone to wrangle them. Once the Snowtails and other dragons were gathered outside the station and herded inside, a couple were then stuffed into the elevator to be taken to a higher floor and hidden in the lab.

In "Ragnarok: Part 2", after Jörmungandr was defeated and Thunder checks on the realms, he checks the Ice Realm to see the Snowtails thriving again, and they appeared grateful for Thunder defeating the World Serpent.

Trivia[]

  • Snowtails are the only Stoker Class dragon to use ice blasts.
    • This is rather ironic, considering the fact that the class is renowned for its dragons' fire-breathing abilities.
  • D'Angelo pointed out that Snowtails and Terrible Terrors are cousins.
