  Hulu

Plot[]

At the ICARIS station, the kids and their dragons help move some boxes for Philip, much to Eugene's annoyance. While finishing up, they overhear May Wong forbidding Dr. Sledkin from mining Dragonsite or conducting research on it after her previous unethical experiments. Despite Wilma's arguement claiming that Dragonsite is worth finding and researching, May puts her on suspension until she can get her morals straight, much to her frustration and the dragon club's joy. A few days later, while exploring the Nature Realm, Plowhorn smells something unusual, and leads the riders to a blasted-out chunk of rock. D'Angelo finds an injured Cavern Crasher with scorch wounds, and manages to treat her. Tom then finds the blasted-out rock has the smell of human explosives, and discovers a deposit of dragonsite was stolen, leading Sledkin to be the suspect. The kids and their parents confront Sledkin about her actions, but Sledkin claims she hasn't left her dome ever since she was put on suspension, and the ICARIS security camera footage backs her claim. Without evidence, all the adults can do is keep an eye on Sledkin; and with the security camera footage confirmed to be not tampered with, it leaves Tom with no other choice but to hold a stakeout to catch Sledkin in the act.

While Tom and Jun watch Sledkin's dome, D'Angelo, Alex, and Eugene tail Linda. The kids were unable to find anything incriminating from both suspects but were are forced to return to the Nature Realm when the sensors detect something from the same site of the explosion. They discover another explosion was set off to mine Dragonsite, and with no evidence that it was Sledkin, the dragon club decides to visit the one suspect left: Buzzsaw. They find Buzzsaw in the Ice Realm, and confront him and his henchman, the latter who have trained (albeit poorly) a pair of Gronckles. Buzzsaw denies setting off an explosion, stating that he's more interested in conquering dragons than Dragonsite. His innocence is confirmed when another explosion was detected, with Buzzsaw literally standing right in front of them. The dragon riders are forced to put capturing Buzzsaw off to track down the culprit. When they reach the site of the explosion, they discover Sledkin and Linda in the cave, and are caught in the act of setting up another explosive to reach another deposit of Dragonsite. When they confront her, Sledkin insists that she is more interested in Dragonsite than the dragons themselves, believing that the rare mineral is worth far more, and she refuses to leave the deposit she found. Tom grapples with Sledkin for the detonator, but it is accidentally activated when the remote fell to the ground, and causes a cave in, seemingly burying the kids and their dragons under the rubble. Sledkin is horrified by what happened and tries to move the rocks, but when she and Linda can't move the debris, she denies responsibility and leaves.

The kids and the dragons are revealed to be alive, but stuck in a pocket under the rocks; and they can't blast their way out without risking another cave in or getting burned alive. With digging as their only option to get out safely, the kids and their dragons try their best to move the rocks. However, their attempts to move the rocks fail, and they quickly begin running out of air. When it seems that all is lost, D'Angelo spots the Cavern Crasher that he helped earlier inside the cave, but Alex dismisses what he saw as a hallucination from the lack of oxygen. However, D'Angelo was proven right when the Cavern Crasher tunnels a way out for them to repay D'Angelo's kindness. The kids head back home, and then, along with Olivia, May, and Philip, they all confront a shocked Sledkin. Sledkin once again tries to deny that she left her dome, but Tom notices a dirty garden lattice in her home, as well as dirt on her new rug. Tom also spots a planter filled with rocks, which reminds Alex that they saw Linda dump a garden pot full of rocks outside. Sledkin's lies are finally exposed when Linda's cluelessness accidentally reveals to everyone a secret passage underneath her rug, which she used to tunnel into the hidden world without being seen leaving her dome. However, Sledkin escapes in a van, and manages to get away. Olivia assures Tom that Sledkin will keep the secret since she wants to take all the credit for finding Dragonsite. But when Olivia also mentions that she told Sledkin the Dragonsite has the ability to create oxygen, D'Angelo realizes that Dragonsite is one of the reasons why the hidden world is able to inhabit dragons and all other forms of life, and that mining it out could make it uninhabitable. The dragon club then vows to stop Sledkin from mining more Dragonsite, and protect the hidden world from her.
