Shadow is a young male Night Light that first appeared in the Dragons: The Nine Realms episode "The Night Lights, Part 1". He is Thunder's little brother and the brother of Goggles and Splattertail and the son of Mother Night Light and Father Night Light and grandchild of Elder Night Light.

Biography[]
Early Life[]
Not much is known about Shadow's early life, except at some point Shadow was happily living with his family in the Hidden World until his big brother got separated after being driven away by a Titan Wing Skrill.
At some point Shadow decided to venture out of the King's Realm and enter into the Bioluminescent Cave and then make his way into the Ice Realm however little did he know two hungry Snow Wraith was watching him and planned to follow him back to his home thinking there were more Night Lights to eat. However Shadow eventually gets his leg caught in one of Buzzsaw's unmanned traps.
Lost from Home and Reuniting with His Big Brother[]
In "The Night Lights, Part 1", while Tom and Thunder were hunting down Buzzsaw and destroying his traps, they hear a noise and go investigate but when Thunder and Shadow meet each other again they're happy to be reunited, and though a little shy when meeting Tom after he freed him from the trap Shadow is happy to be free and plays with Thunder until jumping on top of Tom. Shadow then tries playing with Tom's sword until he takes it from him and finds out he has an injured leg so Tom and Thunder decide to take Shadow back to the Dragon's Lair to have D'Angelo check up on him. After being checked out D'Angelo and Jun also take a liking to Shadow due how adorable he is however Alex thinks he'll be a problem and questions if he's lair trained, Tom then states that he found him alone in the Ice Realm but then deducts that Night Lights don't seem like Ice Realm Dragons. While Jun pets him Alex makes another rude comment which makes her annoyed at what she's saying about shadow but Jun reassures him not to listen to Alex. Eugene then decides on his name so after some dark and disturbing name ideas the group agrees Shadow is good enough, Shadow then tries to play with Tom's sword again however when he sneezes he channels a lighting blast through it that almost hits D'Angelo so Tom tries to take it from him he runs away until Thunder demands he give it back to Tom. The Team decides that until Shadow's leg is better he should stay in the cave and that they should get more supplies for him to handle him so when they get more supplies Tom leaves Thunder in charge of watching him, when they return Shadow is very eager to leave and in excitement jumps and crushes on Jun's Cheesy Loops. Shadow continues to try and leave but the other dragons keep preventing him from going so he makes it hard for them to keep him contained until Thunder steps on his tail. The team then figures that Shadow may know the way back to Thunder's family so they follow him into the Ice Realm where he leads them back to the cave entrance he entered the Realm from. When they all enter the Bioluminescent Cave and find a chest Shadow warns them that it's one of Hiccup's booby traps and urges them not to open it but Eugene being greedy sets it off and gets trapped in a net and causes boulders to fall and collapse on top of everyone, after they escape the trap they lose Shadow but continue through the cave to find him. Once they enter the King's Realm to find him Thunder spots a cave a thinks he might be in there, when Tom and D'Angelo cautiously walk up to it Shadow along with Thunder's other little brothers Goggles and Splattertail who are happy to see Thunder and the Riders apart from Alex take a liking to too. Then Thunder's parents arrive in which the whole family is reunited but as Tom tried to pet Shadow his mother got defensive until the Riders proved they could be trusted. In happiness of Thunder being home Shadow along with the rest of the family decided to fly with him showing how much they missed him, and after they're done flying they're all called away when they hear a dragon's call and head to it. When the Elder Night Light walks out the cave Shadow along with the rest of the family and riders bow down towards him, but when the Elder began to judge Tom Shadow grabbed the sword again making Tom take it off him but also threating the Elder and when Shadow accidently sneezed a blast into the sword it channelled the lighting at the Elder stunning him and caused the other Night Lights to become aggressive and attack the riders. After Thunder saves Tom from the Elder Shadow then explained to him that he was responsible hurting him which let the Elder allow the riders to leave but to never comeback. When the riders are about to leave they all say goodbye to Shadow who they grow fond of except for Alex who prefers he doesn't visit. But when the riders leave two Snow Wraiths that were following Shadow attacked the Night Light family forcing them all to take refuge in the cave however Shadow heads back to the Ice Realm to get the riders for help, so while Eugene rudely states Tom can't be a rider anymore Shadow arrives looking scared and the team determines that something is wrong with the Night lights.
In "The Night Lights, Part 2", when the riders return to the King's Realm and can't find Thunder's family anywhere they try asking Shadow if he knows but he's too afraid of the Snow Wraiths to tell them so they have Plowhorn track them to the cave, while the rider's admire the portrait of Hiccup and his family and wonder what his prosthetic leg really is Shadow hears his family and runs deeper into the cave to find them. When he finds them he sees that they're all okay and goes to play with his siblings in which his mother also licks him showing she and his father were happy he's okay, they then watch as how the Elder escorts them out thinking they were the ones who brought the Snow Wraiths here and then Thunder's parents take Thunder back into the cave to be safe. After the Snow Wraith knocked out the Rider's dragons allowing them Thunder and the Elder to escape it still lingers around the cave to eat the Night Lights. When Tom and Thunder lure away the Snow Wraith and Wu and Wei create a mist cloud for cover, although instead of running with his family and the riders Shadow assists Tom, Thunder and the Elder by bringing Tom's sword to him allowing Thunder and the Elder to channel their lighting into it and knocking out the Snow Wraiths then forcing them to leave. Once the battle was done, Thunder's parents allowed the baby Night Lights to say goodbye to the riders before they left Shadow said goodbye to Tom by trying to play with his sword but Tom laughs saying it's still not a toy, he then goes to Jun and hugs her goodbye and he and the other two said goodbye to Eugene who accepts them and then they jump on him. When Thunder is allowed to head back with the riders Goggles says his last goodbyes by D'Angelo allowing him to sit on his arm.
Dragon Club Returns[]
In Ragnarok Part 1, the Kings' Realm was attacked and Mother Night Light and Father Night Light were both gassed while the Elder Night Light had suffered multiple bite wounds and barely managed to fight off Jörmungandr before the Dragon Riders arrived due to Alex's sensors detecting Jörmungandr in said Realm. Shadow and his siblings all escaped the carnage. They were brought into their cave home where D'Angelo treated them and they were recovering. Shadow and his siblings began playing with Eugene and interrupting D'Angelo as he worked to heal the Elder and the Mother and Father Night Light while Eugene and Alex watched over them in their own way.
In Ragnarok Part 2, the Mother Night Light and Father Night Light are seen again in their cave home with their young as Thunder arrives back home as the new King of the Nine Realms after the Elder sadly passed away in the battle against Jörmungandr in the Nature Realm.
Physical Appearance[]
Shadow is a small Night Light with black scales, turquoise eyes, and white spots on his body. He resembles a Night Fury with some Light Fury characteristics such as rounded tail-fins.
Personality[]
Shadow is a very playful and curious Night Light baby, who likes to get his teeth on something to play with, like Tom's Lightning Sword. He's very intelligent for his age, like when he made his way back to the Ice Realm to get Tom and the others after his family was attacked by two Snow Wraiths that followed them from the Ice Realm, knowing they could help his family.
Abilities and Skills[]
Lightning Blast: Despite being a hatchling, Shadow can already generate his lightning blast, but both times he had Tom's Lightning Sword in his mouth which made it more powerful and accidentally directed it at the Elder Night Light.
Strength and Endurance: Despite being a baby, Shadow is able to fly on his own and able to fly ahead of his elder brother from the Dragon Club's Lair through the Ice Realm and to the King's Realm with no signs of tiring.
Intelligence: Despite being a hatchling, like his kind, Shadow is shown to be very smart as he easily remembered his big brother: Thunder, and the way home and back when he sought Tom and his friend's help.
Relationships[]
Thunder[]
Thunder is Shadow's big brother. Shadow and Thunder are very close, they love each other dearly and play like any pair of brothers do. When Thunder found Shadow in one of Buzzsaw's traps, Shadow, at first, hid behind him, afraid of Tom. But with Thunder's reassurance, Shadow quickly warmed up to Tom and the other riders when they brought him back to the Dragon Club's hideout. When Shadow does things he shouldn't like take Tom's sword is Thunder shown to be very assertive and strict with his brother whenever he misbehaves, Thunder is also shown to be unamused whenever Shadow becomes very annoying to deal with.
Goggles and Splattertail[]
Goggles and Splattertail are Shadow's other siblings, and like Thunder, they love playing with each other.
Mother and Father[]
Shadow loves his parents dearly. Though he mostly prefers to stay near his older brother. He was relieved to see they were still okay when they hid in the old hang out from the Snow Wraiths that attacked them.
Elder Night Light[]
Shadow respects the Elder. He felt saddened when he forced the humans to leave their home after Shadow disobeyed Tom when he told the little dragon not to play with his Lightning Sword. He was still happy that he was alright, even after he, Tom, and Thunder drove the snow dragons out of their home.
Tom Kullersen[]
When Shadow was caught in one of Buzzsaw's traps, Tom freed him and realized that Shadow is his dragon's little brother. Though initially shy, Shadow warmed up to Tom through his older brother's assurance and formed a liking to him seeing him as an uncle figure. He also likes playing with Tom's lightning sword, to which Tom has to keep reminding him "That's not a toy!". Shadow seems to trust Tom enough, as seen when he went to bring him and his friends back to help his family when they were attacked by two Snow Wraiths. He would often cling onto Tom if he was scared or happy. Tom sometimes calls himself "Uncle Tommy" as he cared about his safety.
Jun Wong[]
Second to Tom, Jun is another member of the club that Shadow takes a liking to. She, in turn, is in awe of how adorable he is (making Wei slightly jealous) and acts like an aunt figure to him. He likes to snuggle against her, and he loves it when she dotes on him and pets him. He gives her a goodbye hug when the riders head home after their battle with the Snow Wraiths. Jun can also be a bit defensive of Shadow after Alex makes a rude comment about him or the other baby Night Lights.
D'Angelo Baker[]
Dr. D claimed Shadow had a "Severe Case of Adorable". This showed that D'Angelo was another person who took a liking to the baby night light. While they rarely interact, Shadow did show a few points where he liked the young dragon veterinarian, like when he jumped on his head in the Elder's cave and when he crawled on his arms when they were saying goodbye.
Alexandra Gonzalez[]
At first Alex doesn't trust Shadow because like Nibbles he's cute and thinks he's useless and even tells the others that they shouldn't trust him despite being Thunder's brother, and even gets annoyed when he tries to play with her tablet. When the group has to leave Thunder with his family Alex is only one of them who didn't say goodbye to Shadow, although after the Snow Wraith battle she does accept Shadow and his siblings and urges them not venture out alone again.
Eugene Wong[]
Eugene admires Shadow and tries coming up with names that suit him, but his ideas aren't exactly appropriate for a baby dragon, however he also questions why Shadow is leading them back to his home, but the others don't trust him to lead. Although he does accept that Shadow is amazing and on his good side apart from his siblings, but after the Snow Wraith battle Eugene accepts all three of them.
Wu and Wei[]
Both heads have different opinions on Shadow where Wei is annoyed that Jun favoured him for being cute and when he moved his head closer Shadow gently blasted him which bothered Wei, Wu on the other hand doesn't seem to mind Shadow at all and has no problems with him.
Plowhorn[]
When Shadow jumps onto Plowhorn's horn she doesn't like him dangling on him and tries shaking him off, later though she helps Thunder prevent him from leaving the cave.
Feathers[]
They don't interact much but when Shadow playfully runs around Feathers' legs she doesn't seem to mind.
Webmaster[]
They don't interact much but Webmaster was kind enough to let Shadow sit on top of his head.
