Tuffnut: "What you failed to realize in your foggy morning state, is that those are not dummies. They are scareships."
Astrid: "Scareships? You're serious?"
Tuffnut: "You didn't see any ships near the island, did you? I think not. And why? They were appropriately scared away. By the appropriately named "scareships"."[src]

Scareships are two dummies that Ruffnut and Tuffnut used in "Edge of Disaster, Part 1".

History

The Scareships were designed to take the place of the twins in the lookout tower so they could sneak away and goof off instead of stay on watch at the tower. They were later used by Tuff and Astrid to make it look like the Edge was well guarded in "Edge of Disaster, Part 2".

They were part of the twins' estate sale during "Living on the Edge". Tuffnut said they were made from their actual hair, and wasn't sure why none of the other Riders wanted to buy them. A merchant eventually bought them both, leaving Ruffnut grinning over the money she just made.

Trivia

  • The scareships are a clear parody to "scarecrows", except they're meant to scare off enemy ships instead of birds.
  • Ruffnut Thorston affectionately names the scareships "Stuffnut" and "Fluffnut".
