Randy Thom is a sound designer, supervising sound editor and supervising sound mixer for the How to Train Your Dragon Films.
Biography[]
Randy Thom worked in radio in Berkley, California in the 1970's, but wanted to work in Film Sound. After an impromptu visit to the set of American Graffiti. He would then move on to Apocalypse Now and from there his film sound career took off. He has worked on well over 70 films, and became a staff member at Lucasfilm's Skywalker Sound facility in 1983.
Randy Thom has been nominated for 57 different awards and won 20 of those. This includes an Oscar for Best Sound in 1984 for his work on The Right Stuff and then again in 2005 for Best Achievement in Sound Editing on The Incredibles.
