The Rakke Corporation is a major multinational corporation and the organization that founded project ICARIS, with the purpose of studying the Kullersen Fissure.

History[]

Background[]

Little is known about the Rakke Corp's history, other than it has sponsored many scientific expeditions and research projects throughout the world. At some point after she finished college, the renowned geologist Dr. Olivia Kullersen joined the Rakke Corporation, with the company sponsoring many of her expeditions around the world, many of which proved extremely profitable. Because of this and her high success rate within the organization, Olivia quickly became the company's chief scientist.

After the opening of the Kullersen Fissure in North America, which Olivia had predicted would occur, the Rakke Corporation immediately sought to capitalized on crevasse and built the station ICARIS (International Crevasse and Research Investigation Station) under the directorship of May Wong in order to research it.

Dragons: The Nine Realms[]

Beginning the Studies[]

In "First Flight, Part 1", the Rakke Corp dispatched Olivia, its chief scientist, to ICARIS in order to study the Kullersen Fissure for them. By this point, the station was still being constructed and had not begun its research into the Fissure for the corporation yet, due to having met some setbacks along way.

In "First Flight, Part 2", Olivia revealed to her son Tom that the Rakke Corp had contributed over one billion dollars to the construction of ICARIS in the hopes of discovering new mineral or biological samples from the Fissure, in hopes of both studying them and using them to benefit their profit margins. This made Tom, who had recently discovered the existence of dragons living within the Fissure, to distrust the Rakke Corp and fear the implications that could emerge if they were to discover the existence of dragons and the Hidden World.

In "Fault Ripper", the Rakke Corps became increasingly concerned when a series of Earthquakes threatened to destroy ICARIS, which unknown to everyone were being caused by a Fault Ripper dragon tunneling underneath the station. To deal with this, the company dispatched another one of their chief scientists, Dr. Wilma Sledkin, Olivia's rival within the organization, to solve the problem in case the latter's plan to detonate explosives at the fault line failed to deter the quakes.

Digging for Something New[]

In "Magma Breather", the Rakke Corp had begun to increase its expeditions into the cave systems around the Kullersen Fissure, dispatching both Olivia and Dr. Sledkin, who the company decided to keep at ICARIS, to investigate them, in the hopes of discovering new mineral deposits. When Olivia's observations produced evidence of a large deposit of gold being located in an area dubbed Sector 9, the company initially sent her to check the site. However, the company later decided to have Dr. Sledkin check the sector for the gold deposit while reassigning Olivia to map out the cave systems in Sector 2, which unknown to them was where the entrance to the Hidden World's "Crystal Realm" was located. While Sledkin and her team failed to find any gold in Sector 9, Olivia, alongside Tom, who she had brought with her, discovered a strange glowing green crystal in Sector 2. This prompted Olivia and Sledkin, who later joined them, to continue exploring the caves, which brought them dangerously close to discovering the "Crystal Realm". Fortunately, however, the Dragon Club utilized the lava flow of a newly discovered Magma Breather dragon to seal up the entrance and drive Olivia and Sledkin back, thus preventing the Rakke Corp from learning about the Hidden World. Despite this, Olivia kept the crystal she had retrieved, intending to present it to the Rakke Corp for further study, which worried her son on the possible implications this might mean for the Hidden World.

Examining a Sinkhole[]

In “Ride or Die”, after being shown the strange crystal that Olivia had found earlier, Dr. Sledkin journeyed to Sector 2 in the hopes of finding more samples for the Rakke Corp. Accompanying her were two of the company’s miners whom she had assigned to break down a cluster of rocks blocking the entrance to one of the cave systems. Unbeknownst to them, the cave lead right to the Hidden World of the dragons. Fortunately, the miners were scared off by the two dragon riders, D’Angelo Baker and Alex Gonzalez, before they could break through, thus preventing the Hidden World’s discovery by Sledkin and the company.

In “Empty Fireworm Nest”, a supposedly new species of lizard (in actuality a Fireworm dragon), with strange bioluminescent properties, was discovered and caught at ICARIS by two of the company’s biologists, Hazel and Carla Gonzalez. After being informed about this finding, the Rakke Corp’s leadership assigned Dr. Sledkin to examine the specimen, called Glowmer by the Gonzalezes, in the hopes of learning more about it and finding its potential value to the company’s profits. Their efforts would be thwarted, however, when the two dragon riders, Alex (Hazel and Carla’s daughter) and Jun Wong, managed to retrieve Glowmer before Sledkin’s examination and returned him to his flock.

In “The Sky Torcher”, the Rakke Corp assigned Dr. Kullersen to examine a newly formed sinkhole in a forested area near ICARIS, in order to make sure it posed no threat to the station. Though the company didn’t assign Dr. Sledkin to the mission, she nonetheless joined her rival in researching the hole, hoping to find more green crystals for the corporation. Though they failed to find any crystals, the sinkhole was deemed no threat to the station.

Living with Dragons[]

In "Break in Case of Emergency", Rakke Corp has a required the "ICARIS Leadership Success Series" which requires the high ranking Rakke Corp employees of ICARIS to series of trust exercises, meaning all the parents had to leave their kids back at the station for the night.

In "Undercover", May nor Rakke Corp have not authorised any experimentation involving dragons in which Sledkin decided to disobey and take two terrible terrors out the Nature Realm and torture them to blast at Dragonsite. Later May arrived at Sledkin and the Riders in which they explained what she was doing and May had to remind her that there was no authorised experimentation on the dragons and dismisses her.

In "Sledkin Stakeout", after everyone confronts Sledkin for a second time after she tried to kill the Dragon Riders, she became enraged stating she had nothing to do with it and that she hadn't left her dome, in which she also mentioned she was hand-picked by William Rakke Jr himself.

DreamWorks Dragons: Legends of The Nine Realms[]

At the end of the game, a Rakke Corp drone with the ICARIS insignia observed Thunder, Plowhorn, Wu/Wei and Feathers in the King’s Realm of the Hidden World as they celebrated alongside Thunder’s Night Light family following their victory over a Titan Wing Skrill. As the drone collected video footage of the unsuspecting dragons, a fleeing Skrill accidentally knocked the drone from behind as it flew away, causing it to crash to ground. Soon after, the wrecked device was curiously retrieved by Feathers, who showed it to the other dragons.
