Plot[]
After being tricked by Jörmungandr, Tom and Thunder race to the God's Realm where Jörmungandr is attacking the Gem Blaster. But before the World Serpent finishes the Gem Blaster off, Tom and Thunder reach the realm on time, and ram into it so hard, they manage to break one of its fangs, and force it to retreat. But despite saving the God's Realm, Tom fears that Jörmungandr is unstoppable. At the King's Realm, Tom broods over his failure, and admits to Jun that he is not like Hiccup. While Jun admits that he's right, she believes that he's still a dragon rider, and reminds him that Astrid, a warrior and Hiccup's wife, is also his ancestor. Jun uses what she knows about Astrid to encourage him to be who he really is, which inspires Tom to not give up. She also reminds him that he actually wounded Jörmungandr, which means it can be stopped, so Tom decides to channel both his ancestor's strengths as warriors and dragon whisperers to form an army of dragons.
While the other riders are gathering an army, Tom and Thunder search for Jörmungandr in the Nature Realm. They are joined by a recovered Elder, who reveals the ability to transform into a more powerful state. The two hold off Jörmungandr until the other riders arrive with more dragons, including more Featherhides, Gembreakers, another Mist Twister, and the Mother Snifflehide. Overwhelmed, Jörmungandr resorts to a massive fire blast at Tom and Thunder, which the Elder takes a full blast from, but at the cost of being mortally wounded. While the other dragons keep battling the World Serpent, Tom and Thunder check on the Elder, who passes on his Alpha State to the latter before dying. As the other dragons continued their assault on Jörmungandr, it begins to fight back and knocks some of their reinforcements out of the fight. Tom and Thunder quickly rejoin the fight, and Thunder leads the charge against Jörmungandr. But when the serpent tries to target D'Angelo, who is tending to the injured dragons, he is suddenly saved by Buzzsaw and a recovered Jack, who scars the serpent and sends it running up the sinkhole to the surface. Buzzsaw then takes over in tending to the wounded dragons, while the riders continue hunting Jörmungandr; but Thunder suddenly leaves the chase with Tom to go somewhere else. Meanwhile, at ICARIS, as May prepares to contact director Rakke for evacuation, Jörmungandr suddenly appears and attacks the station. The riders battle Jörmungandr at ICARIS, but struggle without Tom and Thunder, and their dragons begin running out of firepower. But just as Jörmungandr corners the riders, Tom and an empowered Thunder arrive with the Fault Ripper and Sky Torcher, and the latter commands them to attack Jörmungandr. The other dragons join Thunder, who has become the new king of the realms, and they wear down Jörmungandr enough for Tom and Thunder to fire a lightning blast, through the former's sword, that knocks Jörmungandr out cold. Even though the battle is won, ICARIS has been completely destroyed in the process.
In the Hidden World, with Jörmungandr back in its prison, Thunder flies across the realms, overseeing the damage that was caused by the serpent's rampage, and then meets up with his family, who happily greet him back. At night in ICARIS, Tom meets up with Jun to thank her for her support, and asks for another chance at their relationship, which Jun accepts by kissing him and holding his hand as they watch the moon. The next day, when the kids visit the lair, they find the dragons are having their own meeting, and that they have removed their saddles. But when the dragons refuse to wear their saddles, the kids realize that the dragons are saying goodbye, and that they've realized that the world isn't ready for dragons, due to the consequences of Buzzsaw's desire to have Jörmungandr, and that there are still far too many people like Sledkin out in the world. The kids are heart broken by their decision, but they tearfully accept it. The kids say their goodbyes, and then watch their dragons fly off as they return to the Hidden World, but Tom promises to keep their secret safe. Back at ICARIS, after convincing Mr. Rakke that the destruction and shutdown of ICARIS was caused by an earthquake, everyone is packing up to leave. Tom, Jun and Eugene will be heading to the same place together since their moms have been selected for the same project, while D'Angelo is set to return to his grandfather's place to show off his new vet skills. But wanting to continue seeing each other, Alex reveals that she has created a virtual world for them to use to stay in touch, and she names it the "tenth realm." After a group hug, they parted ways. But while flying off with his mom in a helicopter, Tom briefly sees Thunder's silhouette in the fissure before it disappears, and says goodbye to him one last time. He then asks his mother if he can start learning how to fly a helicopter, and immediately receives his first lesson.
During the credits, Tom and Jun (who are a bit older) are still dating, D'Angelo (who is also older) is showing off his vet skills to his parents and trained becoming Wildlife Medical Officer, Eugene and Alex (both older) are hanging out together, the kids are seen keeping in touch with Alex's virtual world, and their dragons are shown raising the next generation in the Hidden World.

Trivia[]
- This episode uses an epic version of the end credits music.
- When Olivia tells May "everyone loves their dragons", this could mean the fosters from The Great Foster Fake-Out, haven't been returned back to the Hidden World until after Jörmungandr attacked.
- It's unknown if Buzzsaw is still residing in the Hidden World or not.
- Despite wearing their fire suits the riders don't wear their helmets.
- When Tom and Olivia leave ICARIS and scare the sheep flock with the helicopter, this is a reference to the very first episode of the series as they scare the flock off sheep when arriving at ICARIS.
- Though it isn't seen happening, Jörmungandr's outer fangs become chipped and obliterated from the Rider's dragons before Tom and Thunder finish him off.
