Poison Ivy is a plant mentioned briefly in School of Dragons during a Thawfest Dailies Quest.
Description[]
The name 'poison Ivy' describes three species in the Genus Toxicodendron: T. radicans, T. rydbergii, and T. orientale. This is the same Genus as species of Poison Oak, but the plants differ in appearance. Poison Ivy is generally a small shrub or climbing vine, often identified by clusters of three leaflets. They also produce small green flowers and later, white berries. T. radicans and T. rydbergii occur from Central America up through Canada, whereas T. orientale is found in Asia. No species occur in Scandinavian countries.
Like Poison Oak, Poison Ivy produces the dermal irritant urushiol. Touching poison ivy causes a rash of varying severity, and some very sensitive individuals can produce an anaphylactic reaction. Despite that, many animals, including birds, are able to eat it.
Function[]
There is no function of Poison Ivy in the Franchise, other than as a potential irritant.
