Parsnip is a vegetable appearing minimally in the book series.

Description[]

The parsnip (Pastinaca sativa) is a root vegetable closely related to carrots. Its cream-colored taproots are edible, while its leaves are toxic to humans. It produces small yellow flowers in umbels, each having five petals curled inward. The parsnip is a biennial plant, meaning it takes two years to go through its life cycle. In the first year, it grows the rot and leaves, while in the second year it grows its flowers and seeds.

Function[]

Both in the book series and in real life, the root of the parsnip is used as a food source for humans. Hiccup had in his house a cauldron full of deer stew that contained parsnips.

Appearances[]
