This is Berk. ... The only upsides are the pets. While other places have ponies or parrots, we have... dragons!

Parrots are birds minimally seen in the DreamWorks Dragons Franchise.

Description[]

Parrots generally refer to any of the over 300 species of birds belonging to the Order Psittaciformes. They are characterized primarily by their thick curved beaks capable of crushing plant material. Many species are brightly colored. Usually there is little difference between male and females as seen in other types of birds. Most live in tropical and sub-tropical climates, with just a few venturing into temperate regions. While it is possible Viking traders may have come across a few parrots in their Southern most trading routes, no parrot species is endemic to Scandinavia.

Function[]

In both the Franchise and real life, parrots are kept as pets.

In reality, various parrot species are kept in public aviaries and zoos. Their popularity has led to a thriving black market trade of wild parrots, and negatively impacted their populations.
