A mouse is a small mammal that is mentioned minimally in DreamWorks Dragons Franchise.

Description[]

The mouse is a small rodent, from the family Muridae, that is spread widely throughout nearly every country. The mouse is found in all corners of the globe, including parts of Antarctica.

The mouse is often easy prey around the world for small mammals, birds and reptiles. Due to this the mouse generally does not live for much longer than a few months in the wild. The mouse though has been known to get up to a few years old when kept as a pet.

Mice can be harmful pests at times, through damaging and eating crops and spreading diseases through their parasites and feces. It's because of the pest problems caused by mice, that domestic cats are thought to have been introduced into common households. The mouse mentioned in he franchise is likely the common House mouse (Mus musculus).

Function[]

The mouse has two functions in the Franchise: as pet and as food. Gothi is said to have a pet mouse in Dragons: Rise of Berk, however it is never seen. Gobber mentions that mice are delicious in combination with Onion stew.

Appearances[]

How to Train Your Dragon[]

Mice are mentioned in the opening of the first film during voice-over narration from Hiccup when he describes Berk.

The only problems are the pests. You see, most places have mice or mosquitoes. We have... Dragons!
  — Hiccup

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World[]

At the start of the epilogue, Hiccup reminisces the time when there were "little brown scuttly dragons that hunted down mice and rats in well-organized packs".

How to Train Your Dragon Mobile Game[]

As this game provides an abbreviated retelling of the How to Train Your Dragon film, Hiccup's narration about Berk having dragons as pests rather than other places that have mice is featured. Mice are not seen in this game.

Dragons: Rise of Berk[]

Gothi seeks Gobber's help in finding her pet mouse. He quickly finds it and suggests eating it with onion stew. However, Gothi gets mad and Gobber apologizes, saying that he didn't know the mouse was her pet.

School of Dragons[]

In the "Hidden World" Expansion, Harald Forkbeard uses cats and mice to describe a situation wherein the player and himself are sneaking into a deadly situation.

Well, well. We're in a curious pickle! Two rival mice sneaking into the cat's lair, hoping to get a piece of cheese.
