Development[]
A piece of concept art shows that the Mist Twister was intended to have membranes between its front and back legs instead of actual wings, similar to a flying squirrel. It also reveals the initial shorter snout and long eyebrow appendages instead of whiskers.
Physical Appearance[]
Egg[]
A Mist Twister egg is round, with several budges spiraling around it. The egg has two different colors that fade into one another, reflecting the colors of the dragon inside.
Hatchling to Adult[]
The Mist Twister is a dragon characterized by its unique anatomical features, which draw inspiration from Chinese culture and patterns. It possesses two heads on elongated necks, sharing a single body structure. Both heads exhibit frills on the sides, long horns, eyebrows, whiskers, goatees, and a series of spikes running from the neck to the tail.
The coloration of the heads and necks of the Mist Twister corresponds to their respective fire types: the fire-breathing head, located on the right side, typically displays a red hue, while the ice-breathing head, situated on the left side, tends to have a blue coloration. The right head is adorned with wavy horns and a pair of prominent head frills, whereas the left head features curved horns and smaller head frills.
The body of the Mist Twister exhibits a golden hue with a cream-colored underbelly. Its hind legs possess knees that bend in a backward direction. Notably, the dragon boasts two relatively large wings in proportion to its body size, along with a lengthy tail equipped with two tail fins. The color of the wings and tail fins corresponds to the coloration of the heads: the left wing and tail fin commonly exhibit a blue shade, while the right wing and tail fin typically display a red hue.
In "Journey to the Snowcano", it is revealed Mist Twisters can come in different colors, such as green, purple or even shades of yellowish green.
Titan Wing[]
The Titan Wing Mist Twister has a piebald pattern, and is gigantic in size. The left head is solid black with white whiskers, head frills, goatee and eyebrows; and it has blue eyes. The right head is solid white with black whiskers, head frills, goatee and eyebrows; and it has green eyes. The undersides of its wings are black, while the topsides are white.
Abilities[]
Cold and Hot Mist[]
The Mist Twister dragon possesses two distinct heads with different elemental abilities. The red head has the ability to exhale orange sparks or hot steam, while the blue head can release icy frost capable of creating defensive ice structures like ice rings.
When the dragon combines the firepower of both heads, their combined blasts have the potential to fracture large boulders or even damage the ceiling of a cave. If the dragon exerts itself enough, it is capable overpowering the fire of that of a Flame Thrower.
The mist produced by Mist Twisters can dilute and counter the toxic breath of Jörmungandr, lowering the risks of inhaling the venomous gas emitted from its mouth and helping the dragons in near vicinity to recover faster.
In its Titan Wing form, the Mist Twister's firepower undergoes a change. Both heads emit fire, but the left head's fire is accompanied by white smoke, while the right head's fire is accompanied by black smoke. This alteration in appearance indicates a more advanced and potent level of firepower.
Strength and Combat[]
Wu and Wei, as exemplars, exhibit the remarkable physical prowess of Mist Twisters. These dragons possess the extraordinary ability to transport a human teenager by alternating between their necks. Additionally, they possess the unique capacity to carry two riders simultaneously.
The heads of Mist Twisters serve as formidable battering rams, allowing them to breach weakened walls and overcome obstacles, including dragons of medium size. The incredible strength of Wu and Wei is evident as they display the ability to maneuver heavy dragons and even support a helicopter carrying a person inside. Despite the added weight of their single light-built rider on their neck, they can easily accomplish these feats, especially when aided by another dragon such as Featherhide or a Deadly Spinner.
Aquatic[]
As Tidal class dragons, Mist Twisters are very capable swimmers, pursuing prey like fish under the water.
Stealth[]
When the paired heads of a Mist Twister synchronize their breath abilities, they produce dense clouds of fog. This fog functions as a smokescreen, proficiently obscuring the dragon from potential assailants.
Climbing[]
As exemplified by the observations of Wu and Wei, Mist Twisters exhibit exceptional climbing abilities, demonstrating their capacity to ascend slippery surfaces such as the icy roads of dormant calderas, even when afflicted with illness.
Intelligence[]
The intelligence of Mist Twisters has been evidenced by their ability to acquire a diverse array of skills within a condensed timeframe following training by a rider. This observation, as exemplified by the findings of Wu and Wei, highlights the notable cognitive capabilities of Mist Twisters.
Endurance and Stamina[]
One Mist Twister was unfazed after both heads accidentally slammed into a cave ceiling with great force, causing big crystal formations to fall down. In "Journey to the Snowcano", Wu and Wei flew a long distance and climbed a dormant volcano despite their weakened state.
Speed and Agility[]
Mist Twisters have very flexible bodies, as shown by Wu and Wei in "Dragon Club" when they flew with two riders on their necks and dodged the loogie bombs by Gembreakers at the same time. They can also keep up while flying with a number of dragon species.
Cold Weather Resistance[]
The Dragon Club made an intriguing discovery when they found a population of Mist Twisters residing in an area known as the "Snowcano." This finding implies that Mist Twisters are a type of dragon adapted to cold weather conditions.
Titan Wing Abilities[]
As a Titan Wing, their endurance and stamina are greatly increased, as the Titan Wing Mist Twister can endure a Featherhide's sonic blasts, a Night Light's electrical blasts, the loogie bombs of a Gembreaker and the flaming webs of a Deadly Spinner. Their firepower is also enhanced, being capable of cracking huge chunks of ice from the snow volcano, and to crack a portion of the rock inside the it. Their firepower is also powerful enough to melt the ice inside the volcano to maintain the hot springs. They definitely strong to hold enitre weight with hand of unfully grown Mist Twister without any struggles.
Weaknesses[]
Conflict between Personalities[]
Each head has its own personality. This can cause the two heads to bicker with each other, making them uncooperative with one another, which won't allow them to get anything done.
Exposure to Hot Areas[]
Mist Twisters can't last long in hot environments and must be regularly hydrated just like other species from the Tidal Class.
Overexerting of their Mist Breath[]
In "Journey to the Snowcano", it's revealed that similar to the Monstrous Nightmare and Stoker Class Dragons when they lose their flame, when a Mist Twister uses up all of its firepower they are unable to breath out anymore. Not even drinking water will help them and they start to become weaker. They must go to a large Snowcano in the Ice Realm, home to the Titan Wing and the healing spring that can recharge their firepower similar to the Fireworm's Firecomb or Fireworm Queen's venom reigniting a Stoker Class Dragon's flame.
Behavior and Personality[]
The Mist Twister is shown to bicker with itself due to each head having its own personality, but also to cooperate together as well. While the blue, left head is calm, cool and collective, the red, right head is more aggressive and bold. The dragon also has a mischievous side, as shown when Wu and Wei ate Jun's necklace, and toyed around with her soon after.
As shown in "Journey to the Snowcano", The Titan Wing Mist Twister has a gentle and caring personality. It is the guardian of a hot healing spring in a snow volcano, which is where Mist Twisters go to when they need to recover from overexerting their firepower. The Titan Wing simply carries weakened Mist Twisters, opens the volcano's crater, and then lowers them into the volcano, where the hot healing spring resides. Titan Wings will stop at nothing to protect weakened Mist Twisters from anything that tries to stop them from putting the weakened individual in the volcano.
Training[]
Training a Mist Twister is rather easy once you show you want to respect the dragon rather than try to command or order it around. By showing actual respect and reverence to a Mist Twister, the dragon will allow a human to touch their heads, thus training both.

Season 1[]
Main article: Wu and Wei |
In A Hole New World, a Mist Twister was trapped inside a crystal cave along with Jun Wong when she fell inside while being chased by three hostile Gembreakers. When Jun knew she had to train the Mist Twister for all three of them to escape, she at first tried to simply order them around which resulted in the dragon using their heat and ice firepower on her. When Jun started to speak her doubts about being a dragon trainer, the Mist Twister sympathized with her and seemingly understood her feelings, making her realize that she had to respect them rather than command them. Once she did, the Mist Twister allowed her to touch their snouts, trusting her.
With Jun's guidance, the Mist Twister used their heat and ice blasts to weaken the cave's crystal ceiling enough for them to break through and escape. Jun named this Mist Twister "Wu and Wei".
Season 4[]
In Journey to the Snowcano, as an ailing Wu and Wei climb to the top of the mountain, they encounter a Titan Wing Mist Twister, who grabs Wu and Wei and prepares to throw them into the Snowcano. The Dragon Riders mistake this for the dragon attempting to send Wu and Wei to their death, so they attack the Titan Wing to let Wu and Wei go. During the battle, however, the Titan Wing accidentally misses one of its shots and ignites the Snowcano by mistake. The riders then see that the Titan Wing means no harm, as it protects Wu and Wei from the falling debris, leading them to aid it by blasting at the chunks of ice with their dragons. After they let the Titan Wing drop Wu and Wei into the volcano, they enter through a cave and discover a hot spring which Wu and Wei emerge from, fully healed. They also find a whole family of Mist Twisters living in the spring, in which Wu and Wei introduce Jun to them all.
Season 8[]
In "Ragnarok: Part 2", Jun, Wu and Wei recruited another Mist Twister to to aid them in the fight against Jörmungandr. The Mist Twister helped the other dragons gathered to fight Jörmungandr which as they chase him into the Ice Realm, it then followed Thunder's lead in attacking Jörmungandr. However, as Jörmungandr made its way to the surface, the Mist Twister wasn't seen again.

Trivia[]
- While its design is based on Chinese culture, the Mist Twister's heads are based on Japanese culture, such as Red Oni and Blue Oni.
- The Red Oni represents anger, love, and passion, especially in Japan, given the red sun on their flag symbolizes energy, strength, and strong emotions.
- The Blue Oni represents calmness, purity, and dignity, especially in Japan, given the blue sea and sky (for which Japan is surrounded) symbolizes stability, security, and fidelity.
- Due to its appearance resembling a mythical Chinese and Japanese dragon, it is highly likely that the Mist Twister was originally native to both China and Japan.
