I am currently new as an editor to this wiki and I was wondering how the fire types for dragons are decided, as my change to the Crimson Goregutter was quoting the Fishleg's Dragon Card extra from Httyd 3. Was there a better reference that I'm missing or was there another reason? If so please tell me so that I may understand what I should change and what not to. Thank you.
The fire info you edited into the Crimson Goregutter's page was actually fine. The reason I undid your edit was because you also deleted a large chunk of the infobox template, and rearranged some of the other template code. Do you have a program like Gramnarly running on your device by chance? Because such programs often do edits like that without our even being aware of it. For that reason, we request that programs like Grammarly be disabled before editing. They really mess with our templates and wiki codes. As long as the templates remain intact, you're welcome to edit in the fire info again.
Hi Dublyn! I don't know if you have noticed, but a few users have recently asked me to "revive" the Fight Club (here), with a discussion post being created on the same matter. I know that a while ago you suggesting deleting the previous matches and the main page altogether, so I thought I should consult with you before taking any actions.
I noticed, as I'm sure to stay on top of every post and also try to stay on top of every comment as well. Personally I never bothered with it, so it would make no difference to me either way. I try to stay on top of the Wiki Activity too and saw the messages sent to you about it.
And I suggested removing links to the fight club as a method of "cleaning" the wiki up, since it wasn't active so all the links drawing attention to it just draw attention to something here that's now obsolete. The template was removed from the Main Page a while ago, but I know there's still a link in the drop down menu, and a few other places.
I'm a bit confused however, since I remember your excuse for no longer doing the fight club was that you no longer had time, not that there was no interest. You may have time again right now, but Covid/lock down won't last forever (drawn out as it's being), so are you sure you're going to be able to keep it up?
I never said that I didn't have time for it, just that I was wasting time with it, since few people actually voted. Seeing how most of the fights gained hundreds of votes over the last years, I think the problem was the short amount of time between the fights, so instead of two weeks, it could be one month. I think I'd be able to keep up with it, as for me the lockdown gave me more free time than before.
Okay so I just saw a post made by Ziyana Tiwari and the art they posted is very familiar. I just wanted to give you a heads up. I'm not entirely certain, but I am about 90% that art belongs to a user on another website by the name of Madpatti.
I'm not an active editor on either SoD Wiki or HTTYD Wiki, but I sometimes visit both and today I noticed that there is still an old logotype of SoD Wiki on this Wiki. I know LPS wrote about a new logotype to Tauriel (here), but apparently there was no response. I guess the staff must've been busy or something. Could you please update it? If it's not a problem of course. I think the new logotype looks a lot better and might invite more people to visit SoD Wiki.
Hi Dublyn! I know this question may seem out of nowhere, but I believe you are more experienced than me with this kind of stuff. How reliable is IMDb when it comes to upcoming titles? I'm asking this, because recently I've stumbled opon this, which is supposed to be a list of upcoming episodes. The titles sound like they could be real, but I don't know how much I can trust IMDb in this case. Thoughts?
Hmm, I'd say there's a good chance they're real, but there's no way to tell for sure unless you have an IMDb Pro account. I know agencies often supply their clients (actors) with IMDb Pro accounts so they can market themselves and answer FAQs on installments they worked on. Madalyn Gonzalez has her own account and has edited her own page. Unfortunately non-Pro accounts don't have access to most edit history, such as adding those episodes. I'm not even certain Pro accounts would have access to that information, though it would make sense that they would. Unlike Wikipedia or Fandom, IMDb only allows Pro accounts to add things like that, too (a non-Pro account may try, but it will be rejected). So the episodes may have very well been added by one of the official cast or crew members.
I wouldn't say they're as 'confirmed' as the Snoggletog two-parter, but I can't envision them added to the database by just anyone either. You could probably create pages for them. We could always delete them later if needed. I'd just suggest sys-op protecting them right away.
Alright then. Also, I noticed that while cast members have links to their IMDb profiles, the episodes, shorts and films don't. I was thinking of making a template for them as well, since most wikis have such links. Would that be okay?
Personally, I feel that may be unnecessary and redundant. We link to cast and crew IMDb pages for their full filmography since we don't need or want that whole list here. As well as possible additional info that would be irrelevant to our wiki. There wouldn't really be any additional info like that for media since we already list the cast and crew and specs of each on their respective pages.
I don't think the pages should have been created. IMDb isn't a completely reliable source, and you shouldn't create something based off what you see there, as there needs to be a truly reliable source for the title. Secondly, the names were placed in the second season list, which casts further doubt on them being real titles. Thirdly, none of those titles make sense either. Lastly, I've been told to not trust IMDb for new information, which includes episode titles, and to never pages based off of information from IMDb, as it is not a reliable enough source, because anyone can edit it, and on top of that those who check edits that are submitted by users and apply those edits to the pages, don't do full checks to make sure that something is actually true and is sourced.
Just as the prior wiki I edited on never used IMDb as a source for information, we shouldn't use it here.
To be honest, I've never played Dawn of the New Riders, so I don't feel qualified to decide on if he's alive, dead, or undetermined. Looking at the page's history, every single user who has edited it since its creation has been a staff member, most prominently our resident gaming enthusiast, so I trust there's a legitimate reason a reason to state that he's "alive" in his infobox.
As for the spelling of his name, that's an odd one. My guess is the page was created with the incorrect spelling, and someone intended to rename it with the correct spelling but then forgot to do so. Without being certain, though, I'm still not qualified to make the decision to rename it.
Thank you for bringing these to my attention, though! Kasyc isn't exactly a popular character for the franchise, so his page would be easily overlooked. I'll bring this topic up to a staff member who will be more familiar with the game.
Hello! Eesh, it seems like forever ago I played DoNR. From what I remember, I probably spelled his name wrong. It would be what the image says - “Kasyc”. As far as death, if I recall since it’s geared toward kids the characters might not actually die, just be defeated. Also the character repeatedly appears throughout various locations and successive’levels’, and it is unclear if they are just reusing the model or it is intended to be the same character each time.
I liked your profile page, so I was wondering, you wouldn't mind if I copied the source code and personalised (according to my preferences) it for my own profile page? I'd do that, but I don't want it to be seen as plagiarised.
Thanks Dublyn! I've been known in my family for catching grammatical errors a lot, I actually have OCD so I notice these little things... thanks for doing what you do around here, and for fixing the error because it was driving me up the wall lol.
I noticed you were adding some info to the Where Can I See It? page, and I realized that "Dragons: Rescue Riders" hasn't been put onto that page yet. I believe that Dragons: Rescue Riders should be put on the Where Can I See It page in the Netflix sub section of the streaming section. I feel since it is a part of the franchise it should be included on the Where Can I See It? page.
The Thunderdrum page, and a few other dragon species pages, had to be locked for a few days because someone was editing in false sizes and wouldn't quit. They should be open for editing again tomorrow.
And there's a malicious troll attacking the Discussion Boards on many wikis, and he hit us two days ago. He may be back, but he also may not. You don't need to worry about it, as all the other staff and I are keeping our eyes out for him and will shut him down immediately should he show up again.
