Lemurs are animals only mentioned in the DreamWorks Dragons Franchise.

Description

Lemurs are primates which can be found only in Madagascar. Even though they look like ancestral primates, they developed differently from monkeys and apes. There are around 100 living species of lemurs.

The lemur mentioned in the Franchise is the ring-tailed lemur (Lemur catta), which is the most known lemur. It gets its name from its tail with black and white rings. It is diurnal, terrestrial and omnivorous. The ring-tailed lemur lives in groups of up to 30 individuals, having a dominant female instead of a male, like most animals.

Function

There is no specific function for lemurs in the Franchise. In real life, they are the most studied mammal from Madagascar due to being very closely related to monkeys and apes.

Appearances

Dragons: Race to the Edge, Season 3

Trader Johann mentions ring-tailed lemurs in the episode "Last Auction Heroes".

My stores are as empty as a tree following a ring-tailed lemur migration.
