The Kullersen Fissure is a crevice which formed following the near-collision of a comet with the Earth. It first appeared in the episode "First Flight, Part 1".
Geography[]
The Kullersen Fissure is an enormous crack in the surface of the earth that was formed after an Earth-grazing comet shifted the planet's tectonic plates. It is the deepest point on the planet, being deeper than the Mariana Trench with a depth of over 7 miles.
The creation of this fissure consequently revealed a number of previously hidden caves, as well as a chamber of the Hidden World, eventually leading to the events of the series.
It is revealed in "The Sky Torcher" that there is life at the very bottom, including bioluminescent plants and fungi.
Notable Places[]
Dragon Club's Lair[]
Among the many hidden caves located around the Fissure is one that would eventually serve as the secret lair of the Dragon Club, an organization of modern-day Dragon Riders, who use the cave as not only their base of operations, but as a hiding place for their dragons from the other humans at ICARIS. The cave was first discovered in "First Flight, Part 1" by Tom Kullersen when he was brought to the cave by the Night Light Thunder, after he rescued the dragon from being buried alive under a pile of rocks. Once Tom began recruiting the other children at ICARIS into the Dragon Club, including Jun Wong, D'Angelo Baker, Alex Gonzalez, and eventually Jun's older brother Eugene, they were all revealed the secret location of the cave, making them the only humans to currently know of its location. Eventually, Tom's mother Olivia finds the cave to the lair through footage of his damaged drone, making her the first ICARIS worker to know where Dragon Club takes place and what it's all about.
This cave is located along the right-sided cliff of the Fissure and can only be assessed through two entrances. The first being through an open entrance in the ground located on the surface in the woods outside of ICARIS. The second entrance is much less easily assessable, being located along the walls of the Fissure itself, which the Dragon Club riders are only able to assess when riding their dragons.
The lair is shown to be relatively small compared to most of the Fissure's other caves, but is very wide, granting the Club's dragons plenty of room to run, fly, play, and sleep. Within it, are a series of stalactites and stalagmites, with much of it also being covered in moss. In addition, the lair also possesses a unique form of rock formations located just under its surface entrance into the woods. This formation serves as a sort of "staircase" making the entrance easily assessable to those who wish to enter or leave the cave. In "Ride or Die", it is shown that the cave also contains hot springs, which the Club members and their dragons use for both playful swimming and to provide their dragons with drinkable water. However, like many of the Fissure's cave systems, the lair is extremely vulnerable to earthquakes, as was demonstrated in "Fault Ripper" when it suffered a large amount of damage and nearly collapsed as a result of the tremors caused by the Fault Ripper's tunneling underneath ICARIS.

Dragons: The Nine Realms[]
Season 1[]
The Kullersen Fissure was created when a comet nearly collided with the Earth and caused a tectonic upheaving to create a massive fissure. Doctor Olivia Kullersen predicted the creation of this immense crevice and it was named after her. After its discovery, scientists from around the globe came together and built a research facility to help them further study the Kullersen Fissure. Hidden within the fissure is an entrance to the Hidden World, where dragons have been living in secret for over 1000 years.
