Jun's Shield is an ancient Viking artifact and defensive weapon currently in the possession of the Dragon Rider Jun Wong.

History[]

Dragons: The Nine Realms[]

Season 3[]

In "Ride or Die", the shield was discovered by the two Dragon Club Riders, Tom Kullersen and Jun Wong while exploring the Fire Realm of the Hidden World, lying on the cliff of the realm's rock formations. The shield's presence confirmed to the two riders that other humans have indeed visited the Hidden World, and during their study of it they found it be extremely durable, light, and composed of an unknown metal they had never seen before. Soon after, Tom attempted to use the shield in battle against a pack of Flame Throwers, but it was knocked out of his grasp during the skirmish onto a nearby rock formation. Fortunately, during the second fight between the riders and the Flamethrowers, Jun managed to retrieve the shield and used the light reflecting off of it to blind the dragons, allowing them to gain the upper hand against the pack. After the fight, Jun and Tom showed the shield to the other Club riders, during which Tom agreed that Jun should be the owner of the shield.

In "Empty Fireworm Nest", Jun took the shield with her when she and the other riders (this time along with D'Angelo Baker and Alexandra Gonzalez) briefly explored the Fire Realm together.

In "It Flies in the Family", Jun used the shield in the Dragon Club's lair as she rode on Wu and Wei while engaging in a play fight with Tom on Thunder who was using his sword. Later, during the Dragon Club's battle with the Flame Throwers in the Crystal Realm, Jun used the shield to save her older brother Eugene from one of the Flame Thrower's attacks. She later threw her shield to Eugene when he and the Deadly Spinner later named Webmaster were cornered by a pair of Flame Throwers. When the two dragons attacked, Eugene successfully utilized the shield to not only block their attack but to redirect it towards them, saving both himself and Webmaster.

In "Magma Comes to the Surface", the Dragon Club tests the invulnerability by having their dragons fire multiple blasts at it. However, not one of their attacks results in it sustaining any damage.

Season 4[]

In "The Night Lights, Part 1", Jun brought it along on their way to the King's Realm where Thunder and Shadow lived. She used it to show theMother Night Light her reflection, which the mother took interest in, to slowly gain her trust.

Season 6[]

In "Poison Control", when the riders rescue Tom and Feathers from Buzzsaw, Ford and Winston try shooting Jun with the poison darts but she uses her shield to deflect their darts.

Season 7[]

In "Eugene's Lean Mean Extreme Dream Team", Eugene is messing around and borrow Tom's Sword pretending to be Tom while Webmaster holds Jun's Shield so Eugene prepares attack on Webmaster, but Eugene ends up getting bounced off the Shield. The second time Eugene holds the shield and has Webmaster charge at him but Eugene gets launched away.

Season 8[]

In "Ragnarok: Part 2", when the Riders suit up and gather allies to fight Jörmungandr when Jun arrives to the battle she uses her shield to hit Jörmungandr in the face.

Physical Appearance[]

The shield, decorated with the Mist Twister emblem.

The shield is silver colored and disc-shaped, with an iron rim and center hub. The is composed of a metal that is unknown to the Dragon Club, which is incredibly durable against dragon attacks, yet also extremely light, allowing it to be used more easily and effectively in battle.

As of “The Night Lights, Part 1”, the shield has a black Mist Twister insignia - originally used on Jun’s fire suit in gold - painted onto the front.

Functions[]

The shield seems to possess few uses aside from the standard functions of a standard shield, being used for deflecting enemy attacks and occasionally being used as a melee weapon. However, it is shown to be extremely durable, being able to deflect multiple strikes from various dragons at once, with not even the attacks from a Night Light or Gembreaker, or multiple Flame Thrower's being able to dent or damage it slightly.

The shield's reflective surface produces a bright glare that can blind anyone who glances at it, even from a substantial distance.

Appearances[]

Trivia[]

  • Jun's Shield bears a striking resemblance to Hiccup's Shield, except hers has a more rounded surface (Hiccup's was more flat), is composed entirely of metal, and lacks the Night Fury insignia.
  • It is highly possible that the shield is composed of Gronckle Iron, due to its silvery color, unique lightness, and extreme durability.
