JumpStart is a brand name of educational media based in Torrence, California. Its games are published by Knowledge Adventure, and include School of Dragons.

History[]

Jumpstart began in 1994 with the series JumpStart Kindergarten for DOS, Macintosh, and Windows platforms, in conjunction with Fanfare Software and Knowledge Adventure. Jumpstart was fully acquired in 1995, and expanded the brand to include first, second, and third grade learning software.

In 2009, Knowledge Adventure expanded the Jumpstart repertoire to include educational games on a variety of platforms including mobile devices and Nintendo gaming systems. They also partnered with popular animation companies such as DreamWorks Animation and released games using DreamWorks properties such as the Penguins of Madagascar and the DreamWorks Dragons Franchise. In 2017, the Chinese company Netdragon purchased Knowledge Adventure and Jumpstart.

On June 13, 2023 JumpStart announced the closure of the company, and officially ended support for all their games on June 30, 2023.
