How to Train Your Dragon Wiki

You think you're the first to tell me I'm crazy for believing in myths? I know they may not be true, but the stories exist for a reason. They helped guide my grandmother and father. They told me these stories as a child so I would be guided by them too. Myths are a part of who I am, and I can't just ignore that. So you can all go back down the mountain, I won't blame you, but I'm choosing to trust their guidance, to trust my dragon, to trust my heart.

"Journey to the Snowcano" is the third episode of the fourth season of Dragons: The Nine Realms.

Synopsis[]

Plot[]

While the dragon club chases out invading Flame Throwers from the Crystal Realm, Eugene ignores Tom's orders and ends up endangering himself and Webmaster. Wu and Wei save him from the Flame Throwers by pushing their firepower to the limit and scares them back to the Fire Realm. However, Wu and Wei become weak from pushing themselves and D'Angelo suggests getting them some rest.

Later, Tom looks through the Book of Dragons and finds illustrations of Viking teens. He wonders if he might be descended from one of them but can't read the runes the book is written it. Jun finds Wu and Wei aren't getting better even after drinking from the lagoon to refuel. D'Angelo believes the cause is still exhaustion and Jun likens it to the story of the dragon king: a Chinese myth about a dragon king who had four troublesome sons who made him so upset he lost his magical breath. Eugene mocks the legend, but Jun insists there is something to be learned from it. Wu and Wei suddenly pick up Jun and take her to the Ice Realm and the other riders follow them. Wu and Wei take them to a giant mountain and Jun recalls from the dragon king myth, one of the dragon king's sons climbed the highest mountain he could to ask the gods for help and that Wu and Wei may know something on the mountain can heal them. However, Tom reveals an illustration of the mountain in the book that shows a warning many dangers. Jun refuses to turn back and the dragon flies to the mountain.

Wu and Wei lead the group to land on a ledge and it appears they will have to climb the rest of the way on foot. When Eugene tries to fly up on Webmaster, they are immediately crashed by violent wind, which Tom points out was one of the things the book warned of. Tom believes the Book is a more reliable guide then Jun's myth and the two begin arguing but stop when Wu and Wei begin climbing up on their own. Jun discovers that the path her dragons took is safe from the winds and points out Wu and Wei know what they are doing. The group climbs the slippery path with some difficulty, but nearly fall off when Wu Wei sneezes and slips. Before they can plummet off the mountain, they are saved by Webmaster, Eugene and Plowhorn.

When the group reaches a flat area to rest, Tom and Jun continue arguing about whether to follow the book or the myth. The group begins to act deliriously from poison gas in the area described in the book, forcing the dragons to rescue them and bring them to the mountain's peak. Jun believes there is something on there that can help Wu and Wei, recalling a lake from the dragon king myth, but Tom points out things are getting dangerous, Wu and Wei are at their limits, and there is nothing at the peak. Tom insists they go back and asks Jun why she believes in the story so much. Jun explains that even though the myths might not be real, they helped guide her family who taught them to her so she could be guided as well, and that they are a part of her. She explains that choosing to trust the myth's guidance and her dragon and the others agree to keep going. Wu and Wei try to climb to the top of the peak and the mountain begins to shake, causing D'Angelo to realize the mountain is actually a volcano (or snowcano as Eugene calls it). Jun remembers that the dragon king myth includes a giant king dragon and a titan wing Mist Twister burst out of the peak. Tom discovers a hidden picture of the titan wing and shows Jun that is appears to throw dragons to their death inside the snowcano.

Jun sees that Wu and Wei aren't afraid of the dragon and trusts them, but when the titan wing grabs them and tries to throw them inside the snowcano, the dragon riders move to protect them. While fighting the titan wing, Jun sees Wu and Wei won't leave the titan wing and they are being actually protected by it. When the snowcano shoots out a burst of ice, she asks the others to trust her and protect the dragons and the titan wing from the falling debris. They let the titan wing drop Wu and Wei into the volcano and it creates an opening to reveal a hidden cave inside. There, the group discovers a hidden spring which Wu and Wei emerge from fully healed. They also find a whole family of Mist Twisters living in the spring. Tom admits Jun's myth was right and Jun admits that the book did tell them about the snowcano, it just needs to be better translated. Tom edits the book of dragons so it shows the titan wing Mist Twister as it really is, a kind protector, though his drawing is crude. When Thunder grows depressed upon seeing Wu and Wei with the other Mist Twisters, missing his own family, Tom promises to help both of them find where they come from.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first time that a Titan Wing dragon is referred to as such in this series, despite there being no way for the Dragon Club to discover the term's meaning without translating the Book of Dragons.
  • More Mist Twisters are found, and it appears they can have both heads the same colour or different.
  • The colours of the Titan Wing Mist Twister is a reference to the colours of Wu and Wei's original design in which the colours represent a Chinese Yin Yang.
  • This is the second episode where no ICARIS or Rakke Town workers or stations are seen.
