Mythology[]
Hildisvini is a mythical boar accompanying the goddess Freya. Her brother Freyr also has a special boar. Freya sometimes rides Hildisvini. This swine is mentioned once in a poem in the Poetic Edda wherein Freya disguises a disciple of hers - Ottar - as Hildisvini, and visits the female prophet Hyndla so that Ottar may hear about his familial background.
