The Hooligans are the central Viking tribe in the DreamWorks Dragons Franchise.

History[]

The Hooligans have been living on the Isle of Berk ever since they first arrived there 300 years before the events of the first film.[1] In the second film, after the death of Stoick the Vast, Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III became the new chief of the tribe.

This tribe originally fought against dragons on their own isle, but eventually, both sides made peace.

Ending the War With Dragons[]

As shown the Hooligans are constantly fighting with the dragons who raid their village for fish, game and livestock so much which resulted in constant fires, damages and much more fighting. Adult every adult Viking regardless of their job, lead by their chief Stoick the Vast is tasked with defending the village but more importantly the livestock from the dragons, which even a ranking system is put in place where killing a Nadder can get someone noticed, a Gronckle could get someone a girlfriend, a Zippleback is twice the status but in terms of a Monstrous Nightmare only the best warriors were tasked in fighting them, although the one dragon Tribe dares not fight at all is the Night Fury whom they all feared and hid from despite never actually being able to see it. Teenage Vikings on the other hand had the duty of putting out fires, but since Hiccup the Chief's son was quite scrawny and weak he was placed in the Blacksmith Shop forging Weapons with the village Blacksmith Gobber. Although one night Hiccup set out to shoot down a Night Fury which he successfully did, but not without provoking a Monstrous Nightmare which ended up causing a lot of damages and letting the dragons take off with the sheep. When Hiccup claimed he really did shoot down the Night Fury no one believed him as usual.

In the Great Hall Stoick held a meeting with the tribe to discuss what to do with the constant dragon raids which he proposed an expedition to find their island and destroy their nest meaning the dragons would either die or leave, the nest had to close by since their home was within the dragons' hunting territory so it was vital they acted now before the winter ice sets in. However the rest of the Hooligan Tribe was very hesitant because the Dragons travel through a fog bank called Helheim's gate which no Viking ship has ever returned from. However Stoick stated that whoever stays would look after Hiccup which immediately the whole tribe volunteered. Though Gobber planned to go Stoick ordered him to stay behind and train the teenagers into becoming dragon killers, reluctantly that included Hiccup.

Later as Stoick sailed for Dragon Island he ended up taking around thirty or so Vikings as they travelled in three ships to find the nest, but as they sailed through Helheim's gate they were immediately ambushed by dragons. During this time when Hiccup discovered Toothless and trained with him, he used what he learned from his dragon to excel and pass every dragon killing lesson which he was able to subdue them easily, people became impressed as they came by the arena to witness Hiccup's amazing skills, no matter where he went everyone apart from Astrid whished to speak with him wanting to hear how he pulls off such amazing feats. Soon enough when Stoick returned he had managed to save everyone in his search party but they all returned in one badly destroyed ship not even close to finding the nest, although people come by congratulating him on how much better and impressive Hiccup has become so much that they were going to throw a party to celebrate.

During a dragon trial many more Vikings than usual came to see which teen would have the honour of killing the Monstrous Nightmare, which as Hiccup subdued the Gronckle everyone cheered. So when it came down to the decision a few people were disappointed Astrid wasn't chosen however, but as Hiccup was everyone happily cheered for him. While Astrid was visibly annoyed the other teens gathered around praising him even Fishlegs held on his shoulder in triumph.

Soon when Astrid discovered Hiccup and Toothless' secret and soon finding the Dragon's nest its revealed the dragons steal food from the Hooligans to appease the a ginormous dragon called the Red Death who controls them into gathering food for it, and if they don't appease it with enough food the Red Death eats them instead. Astrid wishes to tell the tribe but fearing what they'd do to Toothless Hiccup pleaded with her not to tell as he another way of showing everyone that the dragons weren't truly their enemies.

The next day the entire village arrived at the eager awaiting to witness Hiccup kill the Monstrous Nightmare, first they watched Stoick give a speech which they all were happy for him that his son was now going to truly become one of them. As the Monstrous Nightmare was released looking very angry and menacing it blasted a fireball straight at the audience making them back away before it hit them, but as the dragon stared down Hiccup everyone was waiting and cheered him on to kill it. However to everyone's surprise and confusion they saw Hiccup toss away his gear and hold his hand out to the Nightmare making it docile, everyone was confused by what was going on although when Stoick slammed his hammer against the bars the Nightmare freaked and went berserk which everyone became worried about Hiccup. Although things really shocked them as they then witnessed Toothless enter the ring and to wrestle the Nightmare, they couldn't believe they were seeing a Night Fury, and despite Toothless scaring off the Nightmare, everyone then began to jump in and swarm Toothless as he then knocked them back. But soon they piled and pinned him down.

Stoick then took Hiccup into the great hall demanding answers but was ultimately betrayed by his son for betraying his tribe, although Hiccup did slip out that the only way to find Dragon Island was with a dragon giving Stoick the idea to use Toothless to find the nest. The Chief then ordered every Viking minus the children and elders to ready their entire fleet of ships and to gather all the weapons, they then lowered Toothless who was restrained and muscled onto the boats so that they would use him to find the island and very soon they set sailed. Overlooking the docks Hiccup and Astrid have an emotional talk where they knew everyone was going to get killed by the Red Death meaning they had to put a stop it to it and save them all. Astrid gathered the other teens where they would all ride dragons to the island and save everyone from the Red Death, thus making them the Dragon Riders.

As the Hooligans sailed towards Dragon Island, Stoick notices Toothless' ears were sensing the island so the Chief lead every ship in the direction Toothless was sensing until they finally found it. Once there they began setting up wooden spikes and large catapults ready for a fight, so they launched boulders into the mountain which cracked open an entrance full of dragons, so the Vikings prepared to charge in although for some reason the dragons began fleeing the mountain until every last one of them was gone. Everyone celebrated but Stoick noticed Toothless looking scared and realised it wasn't over and ordered everyone to get ready, although that's when things took a turn for the worst as they had all awoken the Red Death itself who burst out of the mountain scarring everyone as they panicked and ran. They attempted to use the catapults on the Red Death but it barely felt them as it easily destroyed them, when the Vikings started running to the ships to escape the Red Death then blasted at the boats burning them all to prevent the tribe from escaping. Stoick ordered everyone to retreat to the far side of the island to escape the beast where him and Gobber could at least distract it to buy everyone time to retreat. But to their surprise they witnessed the Dragon Riders fly in, everyone was in shock, disbelief and even amazement as they actually witnessed kids riding dragons like giant flying horses. Everyone witnessed the Riders fight the Red Death but as soon as Hiccup and Toothless took to the skies they all got down and panicked when seeing the Night Fury but to their surprise as they rescued Astrid from being eaten they realised it wasn't a monster. Soon when Toothless knocked the Red Death everyone got closer thinking it was over but began get scared as they watched the Red Death take to the skies, but as it chased the boys around the island everyone cheered for them but as they lead the giant up into the clouds all they could do was watch and hope they could bring it down. Soon enough everyone witnessed the Red Death crash and explode into the ground, but once the dust settled all they found was a weak Toothless which everyone became sad and worried that Hiccup might've died, couldn't believe the fact that he sacrificed himself to save them all. As they watched in horror even the dragons returned to see the aftermath which they were also worried too, but as soon as Toothless revealed that he had saved Hiccup and Stoick heard his heartbeat he announced the boy was alive which both the Vikings and the dragons cheered in happiness.

After a few days of being unconscious Hiccup not only woke to find he had a metal leg but also that the village was now living with the dragons as people were riding them, feeding them, even structures like a feeding station and a house built for any dragons without owners were now constructed. Once everyone saw that Hiccup was awake they ran up to the house congratulating and praising the lad for ending the war and brining peace on Berk. Now the Hooligans establish a mutual agreement with the dragons, living in harmony and keep them as pets and companions.

Gobber and the Boneknapper[]

One night a mysterious fire broke out at the Blacksmith shop which many people and dragons witnessed the house go up in flames. With Stoick taking command he lead both the Vikings and the dragons in a joint effort to put out the fire, soon when the fire was out Gobber claimed it to the work of his nemesis the Boneknapper Dragon. Everyone didn't believe him as the Boneknapper was merely a myth and even though it was in the Book of Dragons it was simply a legend, also no one truly believed him as a Viking informed Stoick that they found Gobber's underpants hanging by the stove believing it started the fire causing everyone to laugh. Soon after a crazy adventure Gobber and the Riders rode an actual Boneknapper back to Berk and others followed too which Gobber was confident everyone would believe him now.

First Snoggeltog with Dragons[]

Now with peace between man and dragon the whole tribe was happy to celebrate the holidays with their pets as the plaza was being decorated with all sorts of Snoggletog decorations and even a giant wooden Snoggletog tree was constructed. However in the skies were hundreds of migrating dragons which the ones on Berk then began to fly away as well to join the migration, everyone panicked and was scared as they then bombarded Hiccup with questions but alas he didn't know where they went. In the Great Hall everyone stated Snoggletog was ruined but Stoick and Gobber refused to admit this as they've celebrated without dragons for generations and there was no reason they couldn't do it again, although everyone was still sad. And so the tribe still missed their winged comrades as the children even built a snow Gronckle but it wouldn't replace the real thing, Astrid at least tried cheering people up with her homemade Yaknog but it wasn't exactly...delicious. Soon after finding out Meatlug was still on Berk and took Hiccup away with her, the Riders find her eggs which Astrid decides to make everyone happy again by placing dragon eggs in their homes so on Snoggletog morning they'd be filled with joy again. That plan immediately backfired as unbeknownst to them, Gronckle eggs explode which people began running and screaming as their houses exploded and burst into flames as little Gronckle shot out of them like cannonballs. After Astrid's plan badly backfired everyone was even more depressed claiming Snoggletog was officially ruined until Hiccup returned with their dragons as well as boat full of baby dragons. In the great hall they celebrated and where happy to have their dragons back, and even more overjoyed that the babies were now apart of their tribe, claiming it to be the best holiday ever.

Heritage through the Book of Dragons[]

While teaching a new Dragon Rider about dragons through the Book of Dragons, Gobber claimed it to be a big part of the tribe's heritage as the writer his ancestor Bork the Bold began documenting all the various Dragon species on every known fact about them to better prepare in case of an attack or more recently a way to train them. A flashback shows Bork showing off the book to the children of Berk gathered around him as well as a whole crowd of adult Vikings too.

War with the Outcasts[]

In “How to Start a Dragon Academy”, despite the Dragon War being over the dragons themselves weren’t easy to live with as they constantly stole and ate people’s food that wasn’t there’s, ruining people’s property, chasing livestock, flying out of control and every three o’clock in the afternoon they’d poop directly over the village making people scatter and take cover. A smelly old angry Viking called Mildew the Misery still hated the dragons and wanted them gone and began to convince the town the dragons had to go especially. Stoick did give Hiccup and the Riders the chance to prove the dragons could stay but that failed as their dragons even Toothless destroyed the storehouse and ate all the food. In one last ditch to prove the dragons could stay the Riders showed how useful they were such as easily catching fish to replenish the food storage, ploughed and fertilized Mildew’s cabbage field saving him three months of work, and easily hunted and captured wild boars to eat. At the Arena the village gathered where Stoick ordered the riders to go to for disobeying his orders in keeping the dragons, Mildew believed they were going to be punished but actually Stoick was impressed by what they accomplished and gave them the Arena to use as an Academy which the people of Berk then cheered and applauded for them.

In “Viking for Hire”, during the war Gobber’s blacksmith shop was very important as people constantly needed new weapons in order to fight dragons that raided the village, but now peace was brought upon Berk people had no reason for constantly needing new weapons meaning his business was soon obsolete. A crowd of people did gather around the shop as Gobber tried selling his weapons for other purposes like butter knives and fly swatters but was clearly they defiantly would not be suitable for those purposes. Feeling sorry Hiccup tried getting him a new job by assisting Stoick in his tiring and exhausting chief duties, although that went wrong as he inducted a baby girl as magnus, gave Bucket and Mulch weapons to fight eachother with instead of settling their dispute, and using metal to fix a ship which immediately sunk the moment it hit the water. Even after failing at his new job at the Academy Gobber truly felt sad and out of place but when Hookfang goes nuts in the village causing chaos and panic they tasked Gobber to stop him, however as he got close he saw Hookfang simply had a toothache and pulled out the infected tooth which made him docile again. Because of this Gobber then opened up a side business where he would fix dragon teeth and heal them too, and it turned out so successful that a line of people with their dragons awaited for an appointment.

In “Animal House”, in the early morning the hooligan tribe where going about their day finally being able to work with the dragons which even a Nadder helps a man move a barrel into his house. But because of Bucket’s weather predictions about a deadly blizzard approaching Berk, Stoick became worried about provisions since the animals were scared of the dragons resulting in the chickens and yaks not producing eggs or milk, so he tasked Hiccup in getting the animals not to be scared so that the village wouldn’t starve. As the snow began to fall the tribe all made their way into the great hall to take refuge from the blizzard, as they all gathered around the fire the blizzard was getting worse that it burst open the great hall doors making them barricade it shut. Gobber and Mulch returned informing that the riders went out to find the animals, as Stoick and Gobber went to retrieve them all Mulch managed to get two of the yaks thinking they could start a new herd until Gobber points out they were both the same gender. The next morning when the animals were no longer afraid of the dragons, they all returned to the great hall where the people of Berk were happy to see them all return safely and that with the animals no longer afraid, they wouldn’t starve to death.

In “In Dragons We Trust”, after Snotlout and Hookfang destroyed Mildew’s roof he had had enough and devised a plan to get rid of the dragons once and for all. On Boot Night when everyone leaves their boots outside to air dry, Mildew put on a pair of Zippleback Boots to leave tracks everywhere and stole all the boots as well as ruin and rip them apart. When morning broke and everyone found their boots missing as well as Zippleback tracks leading to the Academy, they found a pile of their ruined boots sitting next to a sleeping Barf and Belch making everyone furious. Despite the Riders efforts to keep the dragons in check, Mildew once again caused problems by using a Monstrous Nightmare Clawstick to ruin the Great Hall. To make matters worse no one saw him which Snotlout also unfortunately confirmed Hookfang was on his own for a few hours. Although what really causes problems is that a Viking witnessed Toothless wandering into the Armory but Toothless was investigating a noise he heard from there, which turns out to be a fire already lit that ignite explosive liquid which destroys the armoury and all the weapons inside, though Toothless escapes people believe it was him giving Stoick no choice to exile the dragons.

In "Alvin and the Outcasts", now with the tribe vulnerable Gobber works hard to rebuild all the weapons, Stoick states he had no choice but to banishing the dragons but him and Gobber admit they would be very useful right now against an attack from one of their enemies, a ruthless Viking and his followers exiled from Berk a long time ago known by Alvinn the Treacherous and his army of Outcast soldiers. Later upon seeing the Outcasts arrive at Berk everyone gathers in the great hall worried and panicking on what to do, Stoick calms everyone down ordering Bucket and Mulch to take the kids and elders to the caves for safety, while he leads everyone else into the forest to ambush the outcasts, Hiccup pleads with his father to let him get the dragons so they can defend themselves which he allows but to be careful. In the forest Stoick’s ambush works perfectly as they’re able to take out a few soldiers. However when Bucket went back to get a little girl’s toy lamb, Outcast soldiers followed him and used held their group hostage. In order to save them Hiccup claimed he was the dragon conqueror who they were looking for Astrid plays along claiming it to be true, Alvinn still believes he was bluffing but takes him to Dragon Island to prove it. After Alvinn and a few of his men took Hiccup away, Stoick and his squad arrived at the beach to take out the Outcasts guarding the hostages but were too late as Alvinn and already left with Hiccup. Soon when Hiccup reunites with Toothless and are attacked by the Outcasts, Stoick, Gobber, the Riders and some other Vikings arrive to rescue Hiccup. When the Riders got their dragons back, working together with Stoick and his crew they were able to flank the Outcasts and attack on all sides. After defeating the Outcasts everyone headed home with the dragons, the tribe gathered at the docks to cheer and praise the dragons except for Mildew who was furious his plan failed. Everyone knew the dragons would be hard to live with and would cause problems but given Alvinn was on the move again, they would be happy to know that no matter what the Dragons would always be willing to protect them.

In “How to Pick Your Dragon”, the people of Berk have always done things one way “the Viking way”, but when the dragons moved in making things easier the Viking way ended up becoming the hard way as Stoick and some men began pulling in fishing ship that was attacked by a rogue dragon. After some convincing from Gobber and Hiccup, Stoick agreed to get himself a dragon and after some trial and error he saw how useful having one can make his duties as chief a lot easier especially getting to see the village from the air as he stated his duties as chief is to protect everyone so seeing them all safe in their homes was a good feeling. When Stoick began using Toothless for his duties everyone was happy the chief could help them out so easily. Soon after encountering the rogue dragon being a Thunderdrum as well as some trial-and-error Stoick trained and named it Thornado who then assisted the chief in his duties as seen when Thornado pulls two ships of sailors from the docks and towards the open sea.

In “Portrait of Hiccup as a Buff Man”, as tradition every chief and their successor is to have a painting done of them and hung in the great hall as Hiccup and Stoick had one of them done to be hung with the pictures of their ancestors. The whole village showed up to see unveiling of the new painting which the Riders accidentally stumble across a map leading to the treasure of the first chief Hamish the first, Gobber explained how people from their tribe lost their lives looking for the treasure and that even him and Stoick tried finding it but were lucky to return with their lives. When the painting was revealed but depicts Hiccup as muscular everyone likes it and even states that’s how a chief’s son should look, making Hiccup want to prove himself truly a Viking especially considering his name meant the runt of the litter, later proven when a shepherd calls his smallest sheep “little Hiccup”, so he and the Riders go looking for the treasure. While doing so in the glacier they find two Vikings frozen in the ice as they must’ve fallen victim in trying to find the treasure. Later after finding the treasure revealing Hamish’s son was also a hiccup, a new portrait was hung in the great hall depicting Hiccup’s true self.

In “Dragon Flower”, when Trader Johann arrived at Berk the entire village came running down to the docks as new things always intrigued them, so they all boarded Johann’s ship trading with him for new and amazing goods. However due to something new on the island causing the dragons to become sick everyone was forced to dump all their new things into a pit which disappointed them, but they complied anyway.

In “Thawfest”, every year the Hooligan Tribe holds a competition called “Thawfest” where young Vikings would compete in games to prove themselves the winner and bring glory to their family, but annoyingly Snotlout and the rest of House Jorgenson had never lost Thawfest which being the muttonheads they are, they couldn’t stop gloating especially to the Haddocks. But since the dragons moved in there would be additional challenges involving them which Hiccup believed he had a chance of winning. Around the arena many adult Vikings were setting up decorations and even having friendly competitions with each other like arm wrestling. One the day of Thawfest itself many Vikings came to arena to witness the spectacular and were excited when it began, although a poor Viking had his chicken leg stole by one the kick off Terrors. During the games everyone cheered for the Riders as they competed everyone cheered for all of them but got excited when Snotlout kept winning especially his family, although during the axe throwing competition one man did almost get his head accidentally cut off by Tuffnut. The next day were the dragon events which everybody was really excited to see, but the moment Snotlout lost the first challenge and Hiccup won it really intrigued them all. During the talent portion there were judges giving everyone scores which they gave the Twins and Fishlegs low scores, Astrid got a fairly moderate score, Hiccup managed to score with perfect threes, while Snotlout scored no points and everyone laughed at him for setting his butt on fire. During a challenge between Hiccup and Snotlout everyone cheered as Hiccup got a perfect score, then looked disappointed as Snotlout was failing miserably. Soon came the final event which everyone was in anticipation to see who would win Hiccup or Snotlout, as the race commenced everyone cheered and four Vikings were tasked in throwing logs and boulders at the boys which one of them managed to hit Snotlout square in the face. Soon enough as Hiccup took a dive to let Snotlout win everybody cheered for him and gathered around as they lifted him in the air.

In “Twinsanity”, the unhinged Berserker tribe was on their way to Berk for a yearly treaty between them and the Hooligan tribe which despite Stoick being on good terms with their chief Oswald the Agreeable, as a safety precaution the dragons were moved off the island in case they were seen as reason to declare war. However it turns out that Oswald’s lunatic son Dagur the Deranged had taken over as Chief and had heard about the dragons claiming that if it were true he’d declare, however he still agreed to a treaty as long as he didn’t see a trained dragon. During the tour of the village the Berserkers didn’t see any dragons, though a few close calls with Barf and Belch everything went smoothly. However during the feast Dagur began to question why they weren’t using dragon’s blood for the treaty ink, the hooligans lied saying they’ve killed so many dragons that there weren’t anymore living on the island, until Barf and Belch crashed the dinner which Dagur saw as a sign for which both chiefs could claim a head as a trophy. After Barf and Belch were hunted and brought to the arena to be killed, a staged dragon attack was done to rescue the Zippleback. When Dagur and his people were forced to retreat and leave, Gobber asked about the treaty between both tribes which Dagur stated “consider it signed”.

In “Defiant One”, when Snotlout angrily rants and explains why he defies Hiccup’s orders, he explains he sick of Hiccup always getting to be the hero which he states everyone back home talks about how great he is for training the dragons and killing the Red Death.

In “Breakneck Bog”, while looking for a late Johann, Stoick explains he heard from countless Vikings that Johann has a special delivery for him which he desperately needs.

In “Gem of a Different Color”, after finding a glowing rock Fishlegs shows it off in the great hall where Gobber identifies it as a stone of good fortunate said to give good luck to those that wield them. Everyone began bombarded Fishlegs with trades and bids for the stone however Stoick ordered them to stand down leaving Fishlegs alone, Fishlegs then planned to return it although Snotlout secretly followed them and saw this as a sign to make a profit. When finding out the stone was a Changewing egg it was too late as Snotlout began auctioning off more stolen eggs and refused to even acknowledge they were dragon eggs. When the Changewings came looking the stolen eggs they attacked the village searching through the homes and scarring the people putting them in a panic. Stoick ordered everyone to the docks as they’re best bet was to leave the island and let the Changewings take their eggs back and leave on their own. The riders were able to recover the eggs but the Changewings didn’t leave and were about to attack the ships as Snotlout kept one egg to himself, but Fishlegs was able to get it back and return it making the Changewings leave.

In “We Are Family, Part 1”, as it was Bork week the Hooligan Tribe worked alongside the dragons to set up decorations and preparations for the annual event, as Gobber wished a Happy Bork Week to all the citizens. Later in the Great Hall the council wished to see Hiccup about an important matter, he initially thought it was more complaints about Snotlout and the Twins but instead they agreed to pass down all of Bork’s papers and notes to him and the Academy.

In “We Are Family, Part 2”, after the whole Outcast ordeal Hiccup and the Riders performed a flying airshow parade over the village with their Bork Week Dragons flying behind, as they soared over the village everyone cheered and was happy to witness the event.

War with the Berserkers[]

In “Live and Let Fly”, its revealed the Outcasts and Mildew had a secret plan to destroy Berk and its people by planting Whispering Death eggs underneath the village so that they would destroy the tribe allowing Alvinn to take over.

In “The Iron Gronckle”, after Meatlug barfed up a strange lava and Gobber turned it into Gronckle Iron forging the perfect metal, the whole town heard about this and wanted new strong Gronckle iron weapons. Fishlegs and Meatlug assisted Gobber in forging many new weapons and gear for Vikings who cheered and applauded them, except for one who was scared what his wife would do to him with her new mace, but a little girl who got a new helmet was so happy about her helmet even asked Fishlegs to personally sign it himself. However when Meatlug stopped producing lava for Gronckle Iron everyone grew impatient turning into an angry mob demanding Gronckle Iron. Later as Meatlug’s body became magnetic, she panicked running through the village with everything metal flying towards her which a Viking’s helmet flew off his head he stole another Viking’s helmet which also flew to Meatlug as well, the blade of a hatchet came off the handle which knocked a Viking unconscious as he was chopping wood, even two hunters had their spears yanked from them as Meatlug passed by.

In “Tunnel Vision”, the village couldn’t take Gobber’s stench anymore so Stoick and Riders had to force him to take a bath only to find out the well had run dry, so with that the village had to ration water which Snotlout saw as an opportunity to take advantage by having people trade goods for water which Astrid then ruined by giving away the water for free. When Hiccup finds out Whispering Deaths placed by the Outcasts were responsible the tunnelling dragons surface causing mayhem and destruction as they rampaged all over the village sending everyone in a panic, the tribe did their best to fight them off while the Dragon Riders were able to drive them out but when the Screaming Death showed up it really made everyone fear for their lives but thankfully the riders lured and drove it and its siblings away, but Hiccup worried they would return. However with all the Whispering Deaths’ tunnelling it created a new water channel allowing the well to fill up completely again and meant Gobber could get his bath.

In “Race to Fireworm Island”, as Spitelout returns home looking for a bludgeon, Snotlout offers his which Spitelout happily takes as he and some over Vikings head down to the port to see who’s skull is the strongest.

In “Fright of Passage”, every ten years during the Northen Lights the Hooligan tribe is attacked by a Flightmare forcing everyone to hide in their homes, however one Viking Fearless Finn Hofferson was tasked in fighting the Flightmare but unfortunately perished, from what people saw Fearless Finn froze in fear upon seeing the Flightmare which unfortunately brought shame onto House Hofferson. Ten years later on the night the Flightmare would appear again, the people of Berk began seeking safety and refuge inside their homes from the Flightmare, others went down to the Academy where the Twins built an emergency bunker full of delicious food which they refused to let Snotlout inside. However before the Flightmare reached the village and was driven out by the Riders for good, Astrid had cleared her uncle and the Hofferson Clan’s name proving they were the bravest. Finally the tribe could enjoy the light show of the Northern Lights without fear of the Flightmare attacking.

In “Worst in Show”, while Alvinn, Savage and Mildew travel around the Whispering Death tunnels to get to sneak their way to the Academy, they keep ending up at Yak farms which Alvinn gets annoyed questioning why the Hooligans love Yaks so much.

In “Appetite for Destruction”, as the Twins pretend to be statues to find from a Terrible Terror who has a message for them, they pretend to be statues which as people walked by them were confused but didn’t question the Twins’ weird antics.

In “Zippleback Down”, considering the Dragon War was over and there was no need for the Dragon Traps, Gobber ordered the riders to venture out and disarm all the traps in case any person accidentally walks into them. Later as Hiccup sees that temperature is high meaning it was fire whether he goes to inform his father who already had the village prepare with buckets of water ready, he found out because apparently if Gobber’s chin feels rough and hard it means fire whether is upon them.

In “A View to a Skrill, Part 1”, after rescuing Bucket and Mulch from Berserkers and bringing back a frozen Skrill, the Hooligan council convened on how to proceed which many saw this as an act of war. To make matters worse they find out what the Berserkers were after was the Skrill they agreed a dragon like that shouldn’t be put into the hands of Dagur and his men. To make matters even more worse Snotlout and the Twins ended up setting the Skrill free, Stoick feared that if the Berserkers got it they could control it as his grandfather used to tell him stories about how Berserkers would attack using harnessed lightning dragons.

In “A View to a Skrill, Part 2”, with the Skrill captured by the Outcasts and planned to be handed by the Berserkers, Hiccup sent Tuffnut in undercover to learn everything he could. Tuff’s cover was almost blown a few times but he made up for it by saying how much he hated the Hooligan Tribe which everyone including Dagur believed him. Tuffnut finds out that once the Outcasts take out the Hooligans and claim Berk, then do the Berserkers get the Skrill. Thankfully due to Hiccup and the Twins, neither side one gets what they want.

In “Frozen”, a deadly blizzard hit Berk causing the sea to completely freeze over Hiccup was sent out to rescue Trader Johann who’s ship got caught in the ice. But as they return they find the entire village completely empty and abandoned except for Fishlegs and a frozen Meatlug who explained they were attacked by Speed Stingers. With the ice bridge the Speed Stingers were able to travel across the sea and arrive at Berk stinging every Viking and dragon they could find, some tried running away and others tried fighting but nearly the entire village fell victim including Stoick. Everyone who escaped took refuge in the cove which as the Speed Stingers took shelter as daylight broke out, all the frozen victims were also brought to the cove for safety. Soon after all the Speed Stingers were driven out the tribe got to work rebuilding after the damage the Stingers did.

In “A Tale of Two Dragons”, because of Astrid and Snotlout ruining the Screaming Death drill and ended up destroying the great hall and singing Silent Sven’s chest hair, everyone was furious with this which Stoick punished all the riders by clearing out Mildew’s rotting cabbage field for new farmland.

In “The Eel Effect”, the Hooligan tribe unfortunately fell victim to nasty plague known as Eel Pox where nearly the entire tribe was gathered the great hall badly ill either coughing and wheezing or began hallucinating completely losing their minds. So the Dragon Riders where sent to Heeler’s Island with Gothi to collect ingredients for a cure, although it did require an eel from Eel Island and without the eel the medicine couldn’t be made meaning everyone still remained sick. So after a crazy adventure Hiccup and Toothless returned with an eel which the medicine was now completed and everyone began getting better.

In “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”, Trader Johann once again arrive at Berk to offer his goods for trade and like always everyone goes nuts wanting to buy something new and amazing. However the day after he arrived many people in the village had unfortunately been robbed of weapons, shields, helmets, drinking goblets practically anything metal which Hiccup and Astrid investigated but found no leads. The next night Hiccup found out the metal thief where from a pack of young Smothering Smokebreath dragons, and in the morning its revealed they had stolen even more metal from the village which they also learnt the scrap metal Johann sold Gobber was sold to him by a Berserker who got it from Breakneck Bog meaning it most likely contained baby Smokebreaths. The Smokebreaths did a number on the village as Stoick witnessed people having trouble with things like carts, buckets and benches collapsing into pieces simply by people touching them, the Smokebreaths also raided weapons from the armoury and the metal from the catapults causing them to collapse too meaning the tribe was completely defenceless in case of a large-scale attack. Even after finding the Smokebreaths’ nest made up of the stolen metal, things got worse as Dagur’s armada approached revealing it was his plan for the Smokebreaths to steal the metal leaving the Hooligans defenceless allowing the Berserkers to easily take them out. There wasn’t enough time to fight the Smokebreaths and get the weapons back so Hiccup devised a plan to use the Smokebreaths against the Berserkers, he had the village gather what little metal they still had to lure the Smokebreaths to Dagur’s armada. Without weapons or gear the Hooligans still stood strong and proud as they armed themselves with logs, boulders and even sturgeons to fight with. But Hiccup’s plan worked as the Smokebreaths stole all the metal from the Berserker boats resulting in every ship collapsing in on itself and sinking once again leaving Dagur defeated. Everyone got their metal back and to Johann’s dismay Hiccup had him lure the Smokebreaths back to Breakneck Bog which they took a few of his things as souvenirs.

In “Bing! Bam! Boom!”, to help in case of the Screaming Death’s return or if enemy ships attacked Berk again Hiccup developed the Thunder Ear to help listen in, Stoick approved and even used it to listen in on Gobber telling a Viking how useless Stoick would be without him. Later that day when Gobber planned to perform in front of the village with his panpipes Stoick had him stay up all night with the Thunder Ear. Hiccup and Stoick also encountered wild energetic baby Thunderdrums which ended up following them back as in the next morning they went nuts all over town as they began sonic blasting everything they saw causing all sorts of problems for the tribe, soon enough Thornado managed to assert authority over them making them behave. After a failed attempt in training them the Thunderdrums once again rampaged through the village bothering everyone, so it was made clear that they would have to go, so they were taken to Dragon Island to live there which Thornado decided to stay and look after them.

In “Cast Out, Part 1”, for a Dragon Rider training exercise a couple of Vikings assisted Gobber in manning catapults to launch boulders at the Riders, which turned into a disaster as Snotlout being Snotlout blasted at them causing a boulder to hurl towards Astrid almost killing her. Sick of Hiccup’s rules and everyone complaining about him Snotlout abandoned his tribe and decided to live on a different island where he unfortunately found both the Screaming Death and Alvinn the Treacherous before getting unconscious. Back at Berk Hiccup and Stoick talk about how their jobs weren’t easy which Stoick also explains as chief they can’t always be a leader and someone’s friend all the time, and when Hiccup one day becomes Chief he’ll have to make tough decisions for all of Berk. Alvinn managed to rescue Snotlout as Hookfang brought them back to Berk, but with Snotlout unconscious everyone though he was dead but celebrated believing they could a have a Viking funeral and planned to get all their dead Vikings, until Snotlout barely woke up disappointing everyone, although everyone did become shocked seeing it was Alvinn that brought him back. In the Great Hall a trial was held as Alvinn was restrained the entire village wanted him dead however Stoick ordered that Alvinn was to be imprisoned until a proper sentence was announced, Alvinn reveals he had a proposition for everyone but Stoick wasn’t interested and ended the meeting, however even after Alvinn was locked up many citizens gathered at the jail and demanded Alvinn pay the price. Later at night Dagur and the Berserkers snuck onto the island and placed Dragon Root in the Academy making the dragons go nuts, which the village rushed over to stop the madness. But as Berserkers locked the riders in the arena with the crazed dragons, Dagur made Hiccup choose between saving his friends or giving up his dragon, however to their surprise the entire Hooligan Tribe armed with weapons as they charged in resulting in a battle between them and the Berserkers that even Alvinn who was freed by Snotlout began assisting the Hooligans. Though the dragons became docile again and the Berserkers were losing Dagur didn’t leave empty handed which he managed to capture Stoick to use him to escape as they threatened the Hooligans if they followed them Stoick would die.

In “Cast Out, Part 2”, after what happened to Stoick the tribe gathered in the Great Hall wanting to know how they were going to get their chief back which thanks to the Twins they yelled and raised their fists in the air demanding answers, Hiccup tried calming everyone down but they interrupted yelling that they should be going to war and launching an assault on the Berserkers. Snotlout took over and made everyone be quiet by having Hookfang ignite himself however as his butt was on fire again no one really paid him any attention, Hiccup tried assuring everyone they had nothing to fear but they continued shouting which got nowhere. Later at home Hiccup didn’t know what to do which as Gobber entered he explained how even Stoick wasn’t good at Cheifing his first day which everyone including Alvinn didn’t think he had it in him, he also tells Hiccup that not everyone is always going to agree with him and even mentions how Stoick and Alvinn were best friends until something caused them to become enemies and part of Tribe to be exiled forming the Outcasts. To make matters worse they find out the Screaming Death is closing in on Berk so Hiccup orders the riders to defend the island while he rescues his father. Reluctantly Hiccup takes Alvinn to rescue his father which Alvinn explains that before he and Stoick became enemies a Monstrous Nightmare attacked the village which Alvinn disobeyed orders resulting in many causalities including Gobber’s hand getting eaten, thus resulting in the Alvinn and the rest of the Outcasts’ exile. Much later as they freed Stoick along with the Dragon Riders arriving and the Screaming Death reuniting with its long-lost mother, Dagur and his followers were locked up and imprisoned so now with the Berserkers no longer a threat and the Outcasts now allies with the Hooligan Tribe there was finally peace. While looking at the horizon Stoick tells his son he’ll make a great Chief someday, which the moment was broken as Hiccup was called to deal with Snotlout was on fire again and Stoick summoned to deal with Silent Sven who broke his silence and did not have anything good to say.

Replacing the Regatta with Dragon Racing[]

As Snotlout had finally readied his Sheep Launcher for the Dragon Races, its shown during his numerous tests many sheep where launched and hurled across the village causing destruction and problems. The annual Regatta was a proud competition done by the Hooligan Tribe however things change, after Silent Sven's new voice scared his sheep so badly they scattered all over island which the Riders ended up making a game out of it on who could catch the most. Meanwhile Stoick and a few men left Berk for a while to gather perfect wood to build their regatta ship to win the competition hence leaving Hiccup in charge, however during his time as acting Chief the Dragon Riders put on their own competition of Dragon Racing which people found more interesting than the Regatta and though hesitant after the constant demands and the feeling of beating Snotlout, Hiccup agreed to hold the Dragon Races which everyone was happy about. The popularity of Dragon Racing was so big that the tribe demanded another race which Hiccup once again agreed so to put Snotlout in his place. However when Stoick returned everyone became worried as the Chief demanded to know why the Regatta preparations weren't done, and with no one fessing up Hiccup took full responsibility for replacing the Regatta with Dragon Racing but to everyone's surprise Stoick allowed the races to continue as long as they did it his way, grateful the races could continue everyone cheered. As the race was underway everyone anxiously kept counting both teams' points desperate to know find out the winner, when Team Snotnuts return with the black sheep everyone cheers but as Team Hicclegs return with another black sheep everyone becomes sceptical demanding to know what's going on. Due to the Twins' cheating and incompetence by painting a white sheep black everyone cheered for the true winners of the race Hiccup and Fishelgs. And from then on instead of the Regatta, the new main sport everyone found entertaining was Dragon Racing.

What’s Beyond the Archipelgo[]

In “Dragon Eye of the Beholder, Part 1”, three whole years have passed since the Berserker war which the Hooligan tribe have enjoyed their peace since they began constructing things for the dragons like the Hanger, even the Dragon Riders disbanding. However as Dagur broke out of prison they got back to get together.

In “Dragon Eye of the Beholder, Part 2”, after obtaining the Dragon Eye and finding out they key hole matches Gothi’s scar she explains the story about how she was the only one out of her whole search party to survive the Snow Wraith attack. As the Riders took Gothi to Glacier Island to find a Snow Wraith tooth as a key, Gobber filled in as heeler for the day as a line of sick and injured Vikings awaited treatment. Although Gobber’s role as healer for the didn’t go well as he ended up setting Magnus’ leg on fire, almost cut off a Viking’s foot because of a tiny thorn and didn’t cure Agnar’s vomiting.

In “Imperfect Harmony”, after unlocking the secrets of the Dragon Eye Hiccup showed this to the council explaining it was revealing to them a whole new world beyond the archipelago. The council didn’t believe exploration was in order considering the dangers that could be lurking out there, plus they wanted to put their efforts towards capturing Dagur who broke out of prison. Hiccup explains Dagur has gone beyond their borders, but ultimately Stoick agrees to the riders exploring beyond their waters since whatever was out there could be important especially since Dagur was on the loose. So with that the Riders leave Berk and its citizens to venture into the great beyond.

In “Big Man on Berk”, due to a Scauldron inhabiting Berk’s fishing waters, the Riders were summoned to relocate it somewhere else but failed due to Fishlegs’ heavy allergies. When Snotlout ended up hypnotising Fishlegs into thinking he was a super Viking named Thor Bonecrusher. As Thor strut around the village doing heroic and reckless deeds everyone took an instant liking to him. But after an ordeal with the Scauldron and Fishlegs regaining his sanity everyone was disappointed Thor was gone especially Snotlout.

In “Crushing It”, Gobber arrives at Dragon’s edge to tell Hiccup that Stoick was driving everyone crazy by yelling at them and being angry with them for no reason, as he was furious with Sven not arranging the weapons properly despite him wanting them arranged in a different pattern each day, and at Gothi for weakly ploughing a field like an old woman despite that being who she is. Stoick calmed down though when he got Skullcrusher as a new dragon since the reason for his behaviour was that he just misses Thornado being around.

In “Have Dragon Will Travel, Part 2”, when Hiccup returned to Berk to get answers about Heather’s horn, today was berk’s annual Gripe Day where Stoick had to listen to the complaints of the tribe who kept giving him pointless complaints like how Sven’s sheep were driving him nuts but didn’t want to leave them alone outside.

Getting Attacked[]

In “Team Astrid”, the riders are summoned back to Berk where the Berserkers launched a strange attack on the village but immediate turn tail and ran, though it was a quick attack the Berserkers did destroy many homes, including Astrid’s house but thankfully her parents weren’t home. Efforts to rebuild were soon on the way as the tribe began repairing and rebuilding the damaged and destroyed homes as well as giving out supplies to those who needed it. When Hiccup returned back from trying to find Dagur, the Twins explain they spent the whole day repairing homes that people were so grateful that they left food and furniture piled outside their homes for them, however Sven shows up telling Hiccup someone’s been looting all the burnt homes which Hiccup then gestures to the Twins to return everything they stole immediately. Because of the attack Astrid was worried about her family and decided to stay on Berk to form and lead a Dragon Riders Auxiliary team to protect the island, many people showed up wishing to join however Astrid being too harsh managed to scare a lot of them off only leaving a few left truly willing to join. Its later revealed that Dagur’s attack on the Hooligans was actually to lure the Riders away from their base so that Dagur could find Dragon’s Edge. After defending the Edge from Dagur and defeating him Astrid officially makes her cadets into the Auxiliary Dragon Riders lead by Gustav who would defend Berk and its people from invaders.

In “Bad Moon Rising”, after Tuffnut gets attacked by a mysterious creature, Gobber claims it to be a Lycanwing. He explains to the riders the supposed story about a troublemaking boy from named Kessler from their tribe went missing which a monster like dragon would always steal sheep from Kessler’s parents, claiming the boy had turned it the dragon itself.

In “Snotlout Gets the Axe”, a union ceremony between a member of House Jorgenson and House Hofferson was about to take place, surprising as both families have always hated eachother, other families of the Hooligan tribe where also invited to witness such as the Haddocks. When Snotlout was forth chosen to bring the ceremonial axe to the wedding he questioned why he wasn’t chosen to be the first choice, which Hiccup and Astrid remind him of the trouble he gave everyone such stealing Changewing eggs resulting in a pack of them attacking everyone and destroying the village, as well as releasing the Skrill from its ice block which also destroyed the village. However apparently the ceremony went down badly and was called off proving no Hofferson would ever marry a Jorgenson.

In “A Time to Skrill”, when Frozen Skrill was freed of it Ice Block it went looking to seek revenge on Hiccup and Toothless, after it failed to find them on Outcast Island it travelled Berk thinking they were there. The tribe panicked as they saw the Skrill but it was soon intercepted by the Auxiliary Riders, when it was driven out thankfully it didn’t do any damage except to Stoick’s house proving it was after Hiccup and Toothless.

Losing their Gold[]

In “Turn and Burn”, though not wanting to admit it Spitelout had constantly been trying to impress Stoick with his ideas to better improve the village but turned out be chaotic, however he did have a good idea about building an emergency offshore supply bunker on another island in case the village ever got low on food and gear.

In “Last Auction Heroes”, after getting intel from Dagur about the Viggo’s Dragon Action, Hiccup saw this as a perfect opportunity to put a dent into the Dragon Hunters. To send an undercover operative (Snotlout) in Hiccup asked his father to use Berk’s Gold to help get close, Stoick refused as the gold was very important for the future of the people especially in order to purchase goods and food, but he agreed as long as Gobber went too to watch over the gold. Unfortunately despite ruining Viggo’s auction he did manage to steal Berk’s gold meaning the Hooligans had to rely simply on trade in order for food and medicine that couldn’t be grown or procured in time.

Joining the war against the Dragon Hunters[]

In “Midnight Scrum”, the village preps as it was Berk’s 400th year anniversary marking the day Vikings first settled on the island, though a lot of things were cut back due to Berk losing its gold. As the village celebrated the people happily watched both the young children put on a parade as well as the Dragon Riders perform an airshow doing amazing and daring tricks with even the Twins making a giant Viking face in the sky which really got people excited. However the party allowed bounty hunters to sneak in which they kidnapped Hiccup to deliver to Viggo. After a long day of searching Hiccup was eventually rescued and greatly insulted before knocking Ryker unconscious Stoick officially declared Hooligan Tribe where now at war with the Dragon Hunters.

In “Not Lout”, with a new storehouse constructed on a non Singetail island all of Berk came out to celebrate its opening but really a lot of them there for the free food. As Stoick does his speech Spitelout interrupts announcing how great he is for providing Berk with the storehouse, but either way the villagers cheer and praise him.

In “Dire Straits”, due to the Dragon Riders’ constant raid and attacks on the Hunter’s bases Viggo grew desperate and subdued a Titan Wing Submaripper to have it chained within the straits of Baldur within Berk’s sailing lanes, this was done because without gold to purchase supplies Viggo knew they were relying on trade now and as a message for Hiccup to back off. With the Submaripper devouring ships and other things in the water, the traders including Johann were unable to sail towards Berk to deliver food and medicine, plus a of the tribe’s scouting ships were sent to investigate but unfortunately fell victim to the Submaripper. Upon discovering this the Riders did their best to help the starving people by getting them food supplies from Storehouse Island, but people had to ration what they had and soon got to the point where all their reserves where depleted making the people, animals and dragons weak and hungry meaning they had to free the Submaripper immediately. Soon after the Submaripper was freed the sailing lanes where now open meaning Johann and the other traders could arrive at the island delivering food.

In “The Longest Day”, during the archipelago’s midnight sun where it remains daylight for two weeks was a time Berk was at its most productive, especially now that the Trade Lanes were open and they had a lot of catching up to do in terms of stocking up on supplies. However after the first week the lack of sleep gets people as two Vikings began angrily arguing with eachother with one of them pulling out a sword until Stoick disarms him and orders them to get back to work. Other people in the village are affected too as Gothi constantly babbles or in her case constantly scribbles, as well as Sven who ended up tiring his entire flock of sheep by dancing with them. Later as Hiccup and Toothless were stranded and hunted on Shadow Wing Island they find out this was where the Dragon Hunters were spying on Berk until the Shadow Wings got them.

In “Gold Rush”, when Dagur returned to Dragon’s Edge he informed the riders that he knows the location of where Viggo stashes his gold supply meaning they could obtain Berk’s stolen gold. After a crazy day dealing with the Dragon Hunters, Hiccup was able to locate where the gold was really hidden which they took back as well as cart loads of more gold Viggo had earnt from his business.

In “Shell Shocked, Part 1”, when capturing Viggo finding out the Dragon Hunters betrayed him he states Ryker is using the Shellfire to destroy their allies first being the Defenders of the Wing, then the Outcasts, then the Berserkers and soon the Hooligan Tribe.

In “Shell Shocked, Part 2”, after the destruction done on Caldera Cay and Berserker Island, the Dragon Riders had to make their stand at Dragon’s Edge to stop the Shellfire and the Hunters or else they’d go to Berk and destroy it and their trib.

War against the Dragon Flyers[]

In “The Wings of War, Part 1”, after being hunted and pursued by Dragon Flyers the Dragon Riders returned to Berk to safety. Stoick tells his son they did the right thing coming home and that everyone loses a battle but Hiccup states he never did, until Gobber chimes in claiming Stoick lost his fair share and sings about how the Berkians lost to a little tiny crew. Stoick angrily denies this and takes command in leading an assault to reclaim Dragon’s Edge from the Flyers which he orders the whole village to prepare for war. Apart from Hiccup not wanting to hurt the Singetails, everyone else starts loading catapults, preparing weapons and readying ships.

In “The Wings of War, Part 2”, Stoick leading the Dragon Riders, the Auxiliary Riders and the Berk Fleet head towards Dragon’s Edge where they all engage in a battle against the Dragon Flyers. Things weren’t doing good for the Hooligan Tribe as they were starting to loose but thanks to Hiccup’s ingenuity and quick thinking he found away for the Singetails to free themselves of their captures allowing everyone else the chance to seize the Edge back. once the battle was over everyone helped the Dragon Riders with repairs and restock on supplies as they had their base back.

Almost losing their chief[]

In “No Bark, All Bite”, when informing Stoick that Trader Johann is evil and played them all, the chief was so furious he let anger cloud his judgement and took drastic measures. He had all the village’s food and medicine supply from Johann’s ships be burnt claiming it could be poisonous. When three traders arrive at Berk offering their trade everyone takes an interest except Stoick who demands they leave claiming they don’t have willow bark to make medicine out of, so while Hiccup and father go to procure more the rest of the tribe holds a cooking contest to see which Trader they’ll choose. However the Traders betray them as Krogan and his Dragon Flyers show up invading Berk capturing everyone in the Great Hall and locking up the dragons in the arena to kill them off, they’re main objective was that with Berk as their bargaining chip they could get whatever they wanted. However when Stoick and Hiccup returned they freed both the people and the dragons which they then began to drive out all the Hunters and Flyers off the island. Despite not having Traders Stoick did threaten the three to leave all their valuables behind, plus thankfully Dagur sent over willow bark for them keeping their medicine in check.

In “Loyal Order of Ingerman”, at some point the Dragon Riders had formed the Dragon Explorers lead by Fishlegs where young children of their tribe could learn about dragons in order to become future riders, their first three cadets where Fishlegs nephews and niece.

In “Darkest Night”, Stoick was ambushed by Dragon Flyers and was left barely alive and bed ridden, the people of Berk gathered in the great hall furious that they’re chief was almost killed so much so they were willing to immediately retaliate but the Riders explain that despite all their forces and allies they were still heavily outnumbered not to mention with their chief out of commission they needed a true leader which they agreed it should be Hiccup but he wasn’t willing leave his father like this. Later the riders debate what would’ve happened if they never left for the Edge where the Twins believe the whole tribe would’ve gone mad with Loki Day pranks resulting in the Dragon Flyers easily taking over, Fishlegs believes they would’ve reached a level of peace and tranquillity no longer seeking violence which Snotlout interrupts stating the Dragon Flyers would’ve easily ambushed them, Snotlout believes he would’ve invented a powerful weapon and become highly admired and respected by the village. Eventually Hiccup explains his version of what if he never shot down Toothless with the ending showing the whole village happily cheering for him bringing peace to Berk between them and the dragons.

In “Guardians of Vanaheim”, as the Dragon Riders leave for Vanaheim to make sure the Dragon Flyers don’t reveal its location, they see the Outcasts sailing to the island which Alvinn explains he’s happy to have his men help defend the tribe until Stoick recovers from his injuries.

In “King of Dragons, Part 1”, with Stoick not getting any better the Hooligan Council came to an agreement that for the time being Hiccup would be acting chief until Stoick pulls through, or permanently if Stoick didn’t pull through. With that Spitelout was sent to Dragons Edge to deliver the news.

In “King of Dragons, Part 2”, with the Dragon Hunters and Flyers officially gone, Stoick was also able to pull through and get better from his injuries which he once again took over as chief leading his people, but soon did plan on retiring and passing over the title of Chief to Hiccup.

New Chief[]

Two years the Dragon Riders defeated the Dragon Hunters, there was finally peace on Berk which more things were constructed for the dragons they housed like feeding stations, a Dragon wash, a fire suppression network and even the Hanger was complete. But also Dragon Racing stands were now constructed which the Hooligans now enjoy watching the dragon races, as the Twins kept dominating the game eventually Astrid takes the win which the crowd began happily cheering she won.

While Hiccup and Toothless were out exploring Astrid eventually found them, to which he tells her how Stoick had decided it was time Hiccup take over as Chief. Astrid is amazed and happy for him but Hiccup expressed how he didn't feel ready nor up to the task. Not too long later they encounter Eret and his Dragon trapping crew who had been attacked a dragon rider and their giant ice spitting dragon, they assume Hiccup and Astrid are associated with the rider and even express how their boss Drago Bludvist and his Dragon army would come for them, their dragons and their home. The two escape and rush back to warn everyone.

When they got home Hiccup tried to warn his father but Stoick was too excited and focus to tell the tribe the news, while also catering to their needs as an excited Viking desperately placed an order for a new saddle. Hiccup though made it very clear everyone that Drago and his army was going to come for them, upon hearing that name Stoick knew that trouble was about to come. Stoick had the tribe prepare themselves for war with Drago Bludvist's Army as now ordered the dragons be grounded and put into the pens. Hiccup pleaded that there had to be a peaceful way but Stoick knew full well that Drago could not be reasoned with and told his son their first priority was their people. Although Hiccup believed he could keep the peace so him and Astrid flew out to try and reason.

Later as Hiccup found and reunited with Valka he told her how much Berk had changed and how the entire tribe now their own dragon. Valka couldn't quite believe it as before Cloudjumper took her, Berk in her day was a land of kill or be killed but she always believed that peace could be possible yet no one would listen to her. But soon later when Stoick and Gobber found them they confirmed Hiccup had changed Berk for the better, and after a heartfelt moment Valka agreed to return home, and with all her dragons moving in Drago wouldn’t stand a chance.

Meanwhile after Astrid and the other riders recruited Eret to help find the others, they were all captured. But realising that Drago didn’t have their friends captured too Astrid threatens the warlord saying their tribe knew they were missing, have tracking dragons to find them, as well as a whole dragon army of their own. Drago saw this as a threat and a problem so after they take down Valka’s mountain to take down their Alpha, they would move on and invade Berk claiming it for themselves.

Much later after a battle at Valka's Mountain resulting her Bewilderbeast and Stoick getting killed, and Drago's Bewilderbeast hypnotising all the dragons to follow him. They arrived at Berk where the Hooligan’s dragons became hypnotised by the Bewilderbeast making people panic as they’re dragons flew away but looked up in horror to see Drago riding Toothless while escorting his Bewilderbeast who towered over everyone. Drago also announced that Stoick was dead making everyone scared and worry to which the Bewilderbeast then decimated the entire village, destroying homes and leaving spikes of ice everywhere.

As they hid and fled in terror they saw Hiccup and the other riders return and cheered seeing their champion return to save the day. When Hiccup helped Toothless break free of his mind control the tribe then cheered for them both as they began taking on Drago’s Bewilderbeast, and when Toothless challenged them both for the title of Alpha the other dragons also broke free and flew behind Toothless which every member of the Hairy Hooligan Tribe stood proudly too with weapons ready to fight.

But after the Bewilderbeast was defeated making Drago flee with him, the tribe cheered that victory was theirs. When Toothless was officially became the new alpha of the dragons he then happily began licking Hiccup too much a lot which everyone began laughing and egged the fury on, but still everyone was reunited with their dragons happy to have them home and safe. Eventually Gothi walked up to Hiccup and marked his forehead with the chief symbol to which everyone then cheered and chanted Hiccup as their new chief.

Rebuilding Berk was now underway with everyone removing the ice, doing construction on the houses, building new homes for all the new dragons, and even carving a statue of Stoick to honour him. Although many other Vikings were happily watching the Dragon Riders competing in a dragon race which after helping some people Hiccup joined in and everyone cheered some more seeing their chief stand tall on his Night Fury.

New Berk[]

Due to the threat of Grimmel the Grisly and Berk’s unsustainable population, the Hooligan tribe set out to find the mythical Hidden World of dragons. On the way, they set down on a large island for rest. After the dragons leave, and with no way of journeying back to Berk quickly, the Hooligan tribe decided to stay on the island that they have called “New Berk.”

Lifestyle[]

Most Vikings of the Hooligan Tribe live in houses built out of wood and do their normal jobs such as patrolling the island, farming, fishing, and hunting.

As sea-faring people on an island, fishing provides a large source of food for Berk and their dragon companions; known species include cod, salmon, sturgeon, mackerel, tuna, trout, and eel. Their animal husbandry includes yaks for milk, fur and beef, sheep for wool and mutton, and chickens for eggs and meat. They have farms that grow vegetables like cabbage and apparently grow a cereal grain as they regularly have bread. It is known that they hunt the aggressive wild boars that live in the forests for food. They likely also forage for wild fruit and foodstuffs like apples and lingonberries from the forest. As they often wear metal armor and extensively use iron for not just weapons, it is not unreasonable to assume that there is at least one local mine or another readily accessible source, although they have also traded for it at least once.

Dragons had become an integral part of Berk, usually providing rapid transportation and companionship. Hiccup's Academy riders, however, are the ones that actively train for air search-and-rescue, scouting, and village defense. Under Hiccup's direction, riders have learned to steer the natural instincts of trained dragons to assist with fishing and hunting. After discovering that dragons communally defecate daily at three in the afternoon, riders now use this as a fertilizer application system when appropriate. There are also dragon riders that are part of the local firefighting brigade, carrying carts of water to act as water bombers. This is changed in later years, supplemented by a water delivery system that Hiccup designed which any rider can use by pulling a rope to unleash water onto the building on fire.

When the threat of Grimmel and the Warlords were dealt with, the Hooligan Tribe realized the constant danger of keeping their dragons with them and decided to send them all to the Hidden World to protect them. With dragons no longer around, the Hooligan Tribe returned to their old lifestyle.

Child Rearing[]

Children have a huge amount of freedom and little supervision amongst the Hooligans. They are taught the art of warfare at a young age and - formerly - how to battle dragons in their early teens. Babies and young infants are frequently given miniaturized but functional weapons, as evidenced in "Alvin and the Outcasts" and other episodes.

Belief System[]

The Hooligans appear to generally believe in , such as Loki, Odin, and Thor, just to name a few. Tribe members are frequently invoking various gods' names - particularly the aforementioned - or using them as epithets. Some tribe members - notably Gobber - believe in omens and superstitions such as trolls and that Hobgobbler dragons are cursed. Gothi, the village wise woman, can use animal bones to predict upcoming weather.

Celebrations[]

The one upside is our annual holiday. We call it Snoggletog.
  — Hiccup

The major annual holiday is called Snoggletog which takes place in late November or December. It's very similar to Christmas, with a structure similar to a Christmas tree put up in the center of the village, decorations are put up, and Viking children leave their helmets out so that Odin can put gifts, or "goodies", in them in Gift of the Night Fury.

In the annual Thawfest Games, the Vikings test their strength and courage in competition. With dragon-riding now involved since the peace, the games take place over a period of at least two days, with a third for tie-breakers as shown in "Thawfest".

Another local holiday is Bork Week, celebrating Bork the Bold. As part of it, Stoick had Hiccup and the trainers put on a dragon air parade to celebrate the first Bork Week with the dragons. They also display Bork's archives in the Great Hall.

Another local holiday is Dreadfall, a holiday that is very similar to Halloween. The Meade Hall and the Whispering Death Tunnels are decorated to look like haunted houses, children dress up in costumes, and dragons have designs painted on them or are dressed up in costumes as well. Gobber gathers all of the children around campfires and tells them spooky ghost stories. The Night Terror is often used as a symbol of Dreadfall.

A minor holiday called Stump Day shown in "We Are Family, Parts 1 and 2, celebrates those who have lost their limbs. There was also the Regatta, which was an annual seafaring competition used to calm the Vikings down because, as Stoick stated, "If we're not fighting against something, we're fighting against each other". In other words, it was used to blow off steam and facilitate non-violent competition among the Vikings. Unfortunately, the Regatta became boring and old fashioned due to the slow pace the boats moved. Eventually, the Dragon Riders came up with the idea of dragon racing with Stoick officially announcing the first annual Berk Dragon Race, which has since replaced the Regatta as shown in Dawn of the Dragon Racers.

Another minor holiday is Loki Day, which is the day to celebrate the birthday of Loki, the Viking God of mischief, and trickery. Vikings commemorate Loki Day by pulling practical pranks and tricks on each other, which is very similar to April Fools Day. It was considered to be the Thorston twins' favorite time of the year until the other Dragon Riders began to pull practical pranks on them.

Trivia[]

  • In "Imperfect Harmony", Hiccup says they do not have a tribal crest. However, in "Defiant One", he said that the symbol on his satchel was Berk's crest. In "Breakneck Bog", Johann was transporting a chest for Hiccup and identified it by the crest on the front.
    • The crest is also on the Dragon Manual.
    • It is possible that the crest is that of the Isle of Berk instead of the Hooligan Tribe.
