Biography[]
Hunt for Toothless[]
After Hiccup and the Dragon Riders freed another batch of captured dragons, Chaghatai Khan, Ragnar the Rock, and Griselda decided to hire Grimmel the Grisly to hunt Toothless, the last Night Fury known in existence. They also offered him a female Light Fury to use as a bait for Toothless.
The three Warlords and Grimmel then travelled to Berk, but found the island empty. Griselda questioned Grimmel how Toothless could escape him once again, to which the latter revealed he discovered the route the Berkians have taken and the four hunters sailed after them.
Soon after Grimmel's tower was attacked by the Dragon Riders, Chaghatai, Ragnar, Griselda, and Grimmel planned their next move. They were continuously disrupted by Ruffnut Thorston, so Griselda suggested feeding Ruffnut to the Deathgrippers. They eventually decided to release her and follow her to New Berk. There, Grimmel managed to capture both Toothless and the Light Fury and brought them back to the Warlords.
However, the Dragon Riders came to rescue their dragons, and began fighting the Warlords and the other Trappers. Later during the battle, Gobber the Belch, Valka, and Eret were brought by their dragons and were directly confronted by the Warlords. Gobber apologized for being late, but Chaghatai tells them that they were on time.
When Astrid Hofferson made two ships collide, Griselda and Chaghatai fell into a cage, which then closed and locked by itself. The ship she and Chaghatai were on was briefly shown to be sinking. It isn't known if she and Chaghatai drowned.
Physical Appearance[]
Griselda is a tall and slender woman. She wears a sleeveless dress in chainmail, pants, and boots. Around her waist, she wears a kama and a belt with a sword's scabbard attached to it. Griselda wears two metal bracelets, both of which cover her lower arms. Her helmet is decorated with a pair of small horns or fangs and a pair of antler-like ornaments, which resemble the horns of a Crimson Goregutter, only much smaller, while a front piece on the helmet protects Griselda's nose. The helmet itself mostly covers the upper half of her head, yet a large leather hangs down to the shoulders, offering some protection to Griselda's ears, cheeks, and neck. It also covers her hair, leaving her hair color unknown. Finally, Griselda wears a long, slender cape made out of fur.
Personality[]
Griselda appears to be the most impatient and the most aggressive of the three Warlords, as she does not tolerate Ragnar's playfulness and wants Grimmel to capture Toothless as soon as possible. Like her fellow Warlords, Griselda is power hungry and greedy, wishing to use to continue building the Northern Alliance’s dragon army in order to one day conquer the world. Griselda also has no respect for dragons as living creatures, seeing them as only weapons of war to be controlled for the sake of personal gain.
Abilities, Skills, and Talents[]
Dragon Hunting: It is assumed that Griselda is an expert dragon poacher, since her rank is among the Warlords, the best dragon trappers.
Fighting: Griselda is a very skilled fighter, for she is able to hold her own against powerful opponents such as Gobber, Eret, and Valka.
Relationships[]
Drago Bludvist[]
Griselda served as one of Drago’s generals prior to his defeat by Hiccup and Toothless. After which, she along with Chaghatai Khan and Ragnar took control of the Northern Alliance and sought to finish what their master started, building a dragon army to conquer the world.
Ragnar the Rock[]
Following Drago’s defeat, Griselda worked alongside Ragnar the Rock as a Warlord leader in the Northern Alliance. Despite sharing the same authority over the Alliance, Griselda has a poor working relationship with Ragnar, regarding him as an imbecile. She is easily frustrated with and doesn’t tolerate Ragnar’s childlike playfulness or excitement and is shown to physically take her frustrations out on him, as seen on Berk following the Hooligan Tribe’s evacuation. Griselda also showed utterly no concern for Ragnar when he was pinned to the ground by one of Grimmel’s Deathgrippers,
Chaghatai Khan[]
Griselda and Khan became partners and fellow Warlords following Drago’s defeat, taking charge over the Northern Alliance along with Ragnar. Griselda seems to possess a healthy working relationship with her fellow Warlord Khan, much better than the one she has with Ragnar. Khan is the only person Griselda has been shown to respect and is the only one who has been shown to keep her temper in check. This can been seen when she attempted to threaten Grimmel with her sword for his arrogant tone towards them, only restraining herself at Khan’s insistence. Both Warlords also hold no tolerance for Ragnar’s juvenile behavior, though Khan is not as temperamental about it as Griselda is. During the battle with the Dragon Riders, both Griselda and Khan fought alongside one another against Eret, Valka, and Gobber the Belch, but were eventually locked in one of their own dragon cages together by Astrid Hofferson.
Grimmel the Grisly[]

— Griselda realizes Grimmel's betrayal |
Griselda is aware of Grimmel's reputation as a Night Fury killer. At the same time, however, her straightforward personality tends to clash with Grimmel's desire to savor the thrill of the hunt. Griselda has no patience with Grimmel's elaborate tactics of confusing his enemy and drawing them out. She also doesn't fear Grimmel, despite his reputation or his Deathgrippers, at one point having been ready to draw her sword on him, her hands already on her scabbard and her sword's hilt. When Grimmel revealed his treachery and planned to kill Toothless instead of delivering him as promised, Griselda was furious at the poacher’s betrayal and that she could do nothing to stop him.
Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III[]
Griselda considers Hiccup a nuisance to say the very least. His missions to liberate the dragons clash with her own objectives as a Warlord. The nuisance is furthermore increased by the fact that Hiccup rides Toothless, a Night Fury and the Alpha of Berk’s dragons. This eventually led her to hire Grimmel to kill Hiccup and retrieve Toothless, despite her personal disdain for the dragon poacher. While it is unknown if Hiccup is aware of Griselda personally, his leading of the Dragon Riders in rescuing Toothless is what eventually led to Northern Alliance’s captured dragons escaping their cages and destroying their fleet, which ultimately led to Griselda’s defeat.
Ruffnut Thorston[]
As a Dragon Rider of Berk, Ruffnut served as a thorn in the side of Griselda and the other Warlords, due to her participation in raiding their ships and liberating their dragons and thus preventing the development of their dragon army and world domination. Following her capture by Grimmel, Ruffnut became a prisoner of the Warlords and was locked in one of their prisons. Like her fellow Warlords and Grimmel, Griselda saw Ruffnut as an imbecile and was deeply annoyed by her constant talking and rants. This annoyance along with viewing her as useless to their goals, caused Griselda to suggest feeding the Dragon Rider to Grimmel’s Deathgrippers. Despite this dislike of Ruffnut, Griselda did not object to Grimmel releasing her, instead seemingly being relieved just to be rid of her.
