The Glass Caster is a large Tracker Class dragon that first appeared in Dragons: The Nine Realms.
Physical Appearance[]
Hatchling to Adult[]
The Glass Caster is among the most unconventional-looking species in the Franchise. It is a wingless dragon of considerable size, featuring a quadrupedal body structure. It possesses a hyena-like mane composed of smooth, dull green fur. Notably, it exhibits a tuft of fur at the tip of its tail. This dragon is characterized by prominent ears, bushy eyebrows, a curved nasal horn, and elongated teeth that extend laterally from its head. It displays an overbite with lips reminiscent of those found in camels, and its scales exhibit a brownish-tan hue. It bears jagged spines along its back. Its feet have long sharp claws on four toes. It has a forked tip tongue and spiky frill under the throat.
Abilities[]
Firepower[]
Glass Casters possess a distinctive ability to generate intensely hot flames in shades of yellow and purple. These flames have the remarkable capability to rapidly transform sand into pillars of purple glass. The temperature of this fire is exceptionally high, to the extent that it can incapacitate flying dragons and even cause damage to their scales, which are typically resistant to fire. This indicates the extraordinary heat produced by the Glass Casters' flames. Notably, these fire blasts demonstrate exceptional precision, enabling Glass Casters to swiftly eliminate airborne dragons shortly after detecting their presence.
Acute Senses[]
These dragons have an uncanny sense of hearing capable of detecting the subtle shifts of vibrations created by their own system of sensors made from melted glass which help them scout any potential intruder or prey.
Echolocation[]
The Glass Caster employs a specialized hunting technique that relies on echolocation. It emits powerful roaring sounds that cause glass structures to vibrate, and then listens for the resulting resonances produced by the glass structures within its habitat. Through the interpretation of these resonating sounds, the Glass Caster is able to effectively track and locate its prey. This remarkable adaptation showcases the dragon's adeptness in utilizing sound waves and their reflections to navigate its surroundings and successfully hunt for sustenance, similar to bats.
Intelligence[]
Glass Casters showcase a notable level of intelligence by strategically placing tall glass pillars within their territories. These pillars serve a dual role, acting as both a distinctive habitat and a means for the dragons to interpret sound waves that bounce off them. This remarkable skill enables Glass Casters to effectively detect and locate intruders or potential prey by analyzing subtle variations in the sound waves. Furthermore, they can utilize this ability to ensnare and capture intruders or prey.
Speed and Agility[]
In spite of its inability to fly and large size, this particular dragon species exhibits remarkable speed and agility on land, enabling it to effortlessly chase and capture airborne prey.
Stealth[]
Despite their considerable size, these dragons possess remarkable stealth capabilities and can effortlessly surprise unsuspecting individuals from behind using their echolocation abilities.
Strength and Combat[]
This particular species has demonstrated remarkable physical power and combat prowess when facing off against five dragons and their riders. By employing long-range blasts, they are capable of effectively neutralizing and damaging the wing scales of the dragons, rendering them susceptible to further attacks. Additionally, these creatures exhibit the ability to forcefully strike and incapacitate medium-sized dragons through powerful headbutts and swipes.
The Glass Caster demonstrates remarkable resilience, as it is capable of withstanding the intense electrical attacks from a Night Light without experiencing substantial harm or exhibiting visible indications of injury, except for minor irritation.
Behavior and Personality[]
This particular species displays a strong inclination towards aggression and territorial behavior. This is evident from observations where an individual from this species engaged in relentless hunting and pursuit of the Dragon Riders, Sledkin, Linda, and the dragons.
This dragon species has also exhibited a unique hunting behavior, wherein it constructs traps using glass walls or cages to capture prey. It has demonstrated this behavior by ensnaring both the humans and Webmaster, subsequently returning at a later time to feed on them, although they all managed to escape.
Weaknesses[]
Sensitive Hearing[]
Their hearing is also their biggest weakness because it is dependent on listening to the vibrations made by pillars to locate things. Taking this ability away hinders their ability to hunt.
Own Environment or Sand[]
The pillars of purple glass can be fired, knocked or screamed at to get its attention and then from multiple angles to hit multiple pillars to momentarily stun and confuse the Glass Caster. Tom uses this to his advantage and utilizes Thunder's electrical blast to make a cage to confine the dragon after seeing this species' abilities.

Season 7[]
While searching for Linda and Sledkin, the Dragon Club are attacked by the Glass Caster. The dragons attempt to face it, but they all scatter in fear except for a terrified Thunder, who attempts to rally the others against it, to no success. The Glass Caster then unleashes a roar that causes the glass structures to vibrate, allowing the Glass Caster to use echolocation to detect the other dragons, and lands a direct hit on Feathers. The Dragon Club, Linda and Sledkin are forced to run into a large glass structure when the dragon targets them. Linda drops her supply bag just before everyone gets inside the structure, but they discover it is a dead end. Thunder tries to divert the Glass Caster's attention but gets shot down with a fire blast that injures his wing, and the Glass Caster fires into the glass structure. Unable to keep fighting, Thunder retreats and the Glass Caster goes after him.
While hiding from the Glass Caster hunting him, Thunder runs into Plowhorn and keeps her from giving away their position via the glass structures by taking charge. Afterwards, Thunder and Plowhorn find Wu and Wei trying to pull out Feathers, who is still injured from the earlier attack, from a hole she's hiding in. Thunder shows her he is still going despite being similarly injured and convinces Feathers to come out of the hole. He then rallies the dragons to go after the Glass Caster. Inside the structure, everyone discovers that the Glass Caster's fire has melted the nearby sand into a glass wall, trapping them inside. The riders fail to find a way over the wall on their own, and Tom comes up with a plan to build a human ladder.
The dragons find the Glass Caster trapping Webmaster in a glass prison, and the dragons are spooked into scattering again, leaving Thunder to be cornered by the dragon. Tom's plan manages to work, and Alex sends over the rope. However, a reminder alarm on Alex's phone goes off and the noise sets off one the glass structures and alerts the Glass Caster just before it can attack Thunder. Plowhorn frees Webmaster and the dragons go after the Glass Caster. Alex sends down the rope so everyone can escape, but Tom refuses to let Sledkin and Linda go first out of distrust. Tom pulls up the rope before they can get out, explaining that he doesn't trust them not to make an escape.
The riders find their dragons, who are being led by Thunder. Tom comes up with a plan to turn the Glass Caster's radar against it, by setting off multiple glass structures and disorienting it. Tom throws his sword at the Glass Caster's feet and Thunder blasts it, setting off an electric burst that melts the sand and traps the Glass Caster in a glass cage. When they go back for Sledkin and Linda, they discover they used the piece of Dragonsite, which is harder than diamond, to cut themselves out and escape.
Season 8[]
In "Ragnarok: Part 1", when Tom and Jun arrive at the Desert Realm to collect Sandstone to create Gronckle Iron, they find some in the Glass Tower. However, once they collect some, they see the Glass Caster running at them; however, it doesn't attack and they find out that it's hiding in fear since Jörmungandr most likely ransacked through its realm. Jun was worried about the state the Glass Caster was in, but Tom assured her that after they trap Jörmungandr, they would check up on it later.
In "Ragnarok: Part 2", after Jörmungandr was defeated and Thunder checks on all the realms, as he flies over the Desert Realm, the Glass Caster sees him and is grateful for his defeating the World Serpent.
