The Gem Blaster is a large Mystery Class dragon that first appeared in Dragons: The Nine Realms.

Physical Appearance[]

Hatchling to Adult[]

The Gem Blaster is a large dragon with stone grey scales, and lots of green crystalline spikes running down its back. It has long pointed ears behind its eyes, and two pairs of spikes behind its ears. The Gem Blaster's nasal horn is green, as well as the claws on its wings, and spikes behind its ears. It also possesses a set of whiskers lining in front of its upper jaw, as well as under its neck.

Abilities[]

Firepower[]

The Gem Blaster's blue firepower appears to react with the Green Dragonsite, which might be the reason the gem provides oxygen within the God's Realm, and to all of the Realms, as the center crystal reacts with the rest of the dragonsite after it breaths fire on it.

This fire is extremely hot, proven by the blue color of its flames, and can cover a wide range during a blast. These blasts are also strong to knock down tall and huge crystals of Dragonsite in seconds.

Strength and Combat[]

Despite its large size, the Gem Blaster is strong enough to climb out of the hole it resides in.

Endurance and Stamina[]

This dragon seems to have high stamina, and can keep up fighting for a period of time with limited oxygen. It can also easily recover from huge blows.

Intelligence and Social Nature[]

Despite its territorial behavior, this dragon understands its role in the ecosystem of the Hidden World, and it will make sure nothing disturbs the balance. They also act as the leader of the Gembreaker Guards, who serve as the first line of defense. If the Gembreaker bodyguards cannot protect the perimeter around the Dragonsite Gem, it will appear from below to act quickly upon the threat.

Behavior and Personality[]

The Gem Blaster exhibits strong territorial defense mechanisms in safeguarding its habitat, which serves as the vital respiratory system for the Hidden World. It displays aggressive behavior towards individuals who dare to disrupt its abode or pose a threat to its companions, the Gembreaker Guards. The Gem Blaster demonstrates an innate understanding of its role in maintaining the oxygen circulation within the Hidden World by precisely exhaling its fiery breath onto the central Dragonsite gem. This strategic action ensures the continuous flow of oxygen throughout the entirety of the Hidden World.

Appearances[]

Dragons: The Nine Realms[]

Season 8[]

The Gem Blaster debuted in "Of Gods and Monsters" when Sledkin forced Plowhorn to lead her to the Gods' Realm where it attacked Sledkin after the latter removed the Central Dragonsite Gem, and then attacked the Dragon Riders, believing that they were the cause of it. As the oxygen began to decrease because of Sledkin, the Gem Blaster became weaker, and then fell back into its hole. The impact made Sledkin slip and fall, but Tom managed to grab her hand just in time. However, Tom quickly lost his grip, and she fell to her demise. The Gem Blaster survived the fall, and returned to its position of keeping the oxygen flowing.

In "Ragnarok: Part 2", the World Serpent attacked the God's Realm after tricking the Dragon Riders into staying in the King's Realm after it attacked and left Thunder's family badly hurt. The Gem Blaster was thrown against the crystals, injured and would have been killed had it not been for Tom and Thunder, who rammed the World Serpent, and made it slither away.

Trivia[]

  • This dragon's fire might be the combination that allows the green Dragonsite to provide oxygen for all of the Hidden World.
  • The Concept Art of the Gem Blaster calls it a "Forever Crystal" perhaps hinting that the dragon may be in some way related to the Foreverwing and the Foreverhorn.
