Synopsis[]

Plot[]
Tom and his friends decide to spend the day with their dragons in the Dragon's Lair. Meanwhile, Eugene wakes up and discovers that his mom left him a list of chores to do, but he tries to find Jun so he can make her do them for him. He discovers Jun is nowhere to be found and begins searching for her. When the dragon club arrives in the Dragon's Lair, they discover that Thunder is gone. Alex discovers that Thunder has passed the sensors from via his tracking device, and the dragon club goes after him. Eugene asks Carla and Hazel about Jun, but all he can get from them is that Jun is a part of dragon club, which they think is a game.
While the dragon club searches for Thunder, Tom wonders why he would suddenly leave. D'Angelo guesses that Thunder finally found his family, but Tom just wants to know if Thunder is okay. They soon reach the end of Thunder's trail and Plowhorn tracks Thunder's scent through a cave. The group begins hearing thunder, (as in natural thunder) and find an entrance to a dark new realm. There, they see lightning shooting upward and realize its Thunder. Eugene tries to find out where Jun is from Philip, but he sees through his attempts to push his chores off on his sister and refuses to tell him anything.
While dragon club follows the lightning blasts, they are ambushed by Spiderwings. After escaping the Spiderwings, the group takes a break at a lake, but are attacked by Bubblehorns led by Nibbles. Tom defeats the Bubblehorns by tricking them into the lake and having Wu freeze them. The others protest that things are getting too dangerous, but Tom is unwilling to leave without finding Thunder and admits he is also searching for answers for his connection between Thunder and his ancestors. Alex and D'Angelo are upset that Tom and Jun kept such a secret and Tom decides to continue alone. Meanwhile, Eugene tries to get into Jun's room to find out more about dragon club, only to get repeatedly hurt by a bunch of mousetraps she placed around her door.
The other dragon riders refuse to leave Tom to go ahead alone, but they are attacked by a Crystal Whip. Jun guesses the Crystal Whip is acting like a gatekeeper to protect whatever is past it. The Crystal Whip traps the dragon club inside a flaming tornado and Tom doesn't have a way out. D'Angelo and Plowhorn make a risky charge up the Tornado and crash into the Crystal Whip to stun it and disrupt the tornado. The group manages to scare off the Crystal Whip and they find an injured Thunder. They discover that a battle took place between Thunder and an unknown lightning dragon and Thunder directs them to a tunnel his foe escaped through.
