Abilities[]

Fire Gronckles have the normal abilities of a regular Gronckle with the exception to withstand volcanic atmospheres.

Weaknesses[]

Food Motivation[]

Like the rest of their species, Fire Gronckles can be tempted with rocks or Catastrophic Quaken eggs to be lured to other areas.

Season 3[]

In "Empty Fireworm Nest", D'Angelo briefly saw a group of Fire Gronckles feeding on some volcanic rocks in the Fire Realm of the Hidden World.

In "Dr. Catastrophe", three Fire Gronckles entered the Silver Maze from the Fire Realm and began feeding on the silver crystals of the maze, causing them to continuously regurgitate due to the crystals not being their natural diet. In an attempt to lure them back to the Fire Realm, the Dragon Riders attempted to bait the dragons with what they believed to be volcanic rocks, the Gronckles' preferred diet. Unfortunately, it turned out that the rocks were actually the eggs of a Catastrophic Quaken, causing the Gronckles to act increasingly aggressive and erratic, as they lunged at the riders and devoured two of the eggs. Later on, though, the Dragon Club used the last Quaken egg to successfully lure the Gronckles back into the Fire Realm to a new feeding ground with a large supply of volcanic rocks. However, the spot was located too close to the nest of the mother's eggs, resulting in her attacking the Gronckles. Fortunately, due to D'Angelo's timely intervention, the riders were able to defeat the Quaken before she could harm the Gronckles. In addition, by feeding the Gronckles more silver crystals, the dragons were forced into regurgitating the Quaken eggs out of their bellies, allowing the riders to return them to the mother, thus ensuring the Gronckles' safety in their new feeding ground.

Season 8[]

In "How to Train Jörmungandr", when Tom is practicing with Valka's Staff, he tries using it on a Fire Gronckle, but his actions cause it to blast flames at him; however, as he improves his dexterity with the staff, he manages to make the very same Gronckle obey him by getting it to light a campfire.

In "Ragnarok: Part 1" when Tom and Jun gather ingredients for Gronckle Iron, they head to the Fire Realm to get iron and a Fire Gronckle. Once they find both, they see them next to a sleeping Sky Torcher along with Flame Throwers guarding the area. When they sneak around the Sky Torcher, Jun grabs the iron while Tom gets to the Gronckle. He approaches it, gently showing he's not a threat, and the dragon both trusts and allows Tom to mount it; however, another Fire Gronckle shows up and is aggressive towards Jun. When it starts charging at her, she avoids it, but the Gronckle ends up hitting and waking up the Sky Torcher who wasn't happy with seeing humans again. The aggressive Gronckle runs away while Tom and the friendly Gronckle were saved by Thunder who allowed them to get away. Although as they did, the Sky Torcher was about to fire at them, and the Gronckle's slow speed made them an easy target until Thunder flew faster and pushed them both further away from the Sky Torcher's fire. After escaping the Fire Realm, they bring the Gronckle to Buzzsaw's camp, where they have the dragon light his forge and use its lava to make Gronckle iron bars to build a cage for Jörmungandr.
