— Dragons: Titan Uprising |
Fenrir is a mythological Wolf mentioned briefly in the DreamWorks Dragons Franchise.
Mythology[]
Fenrir is the offspring of the god Loki. Unlike his siblings Jörmungandr and Hel, he is raised after a fashion by the Aesir gods. The gods fear him because they hear that he is prophesied to cause problems for them. The gods trick him and tie him up with indestructible bindings, placed in his mouth by the god Tyr, who looses his hand as a result. The other gods are amused by this. They further wedge his mouth wide open with a sword so that he cannot close it. Fenrir's spittle pours from his mouth and creates the river of Van.
At some point, Fenrir is said to have sired the wolves Skoll and Hati, who chase the sun and the moon, respectively, across the sky.
Fenrir is prophesied to kill and swallow Odin, and then in turn be killed by one of Odin's sons, Vidarr.
