Plot[]
With the Dragon Riders broken up, Eugene finds himself bored and lonely. After several failed attempts to amuse himself, Eugene decides to try and convince one of the other riders to go on a mission with him. Unfortunately, his efforts are unsuccessful he interrupts D'Angelo's work at the dragon hospital, Alex ignores him, and he doesn't even bother trying to talk to Tom or Jun after seeing them going on a date. After his failed attempts, Eugene tries to explore the Ice Realm along with Webmaster and discovers a group of Flame Throwers have infiltrated the realm. Unable to chase them out without help, Eugene decides to create his own dragon team.
He first goes to Alex's house and reveals he is putting together his own team, and he is inviting Alex's moms to join his team. Alex refuses to let Eugene recruit her moms, but they make up their own mind and decide to accept Eugene's offer. Meanwhile, Tom and Jun try to continue their date by heading to the Nature Realm through the shortcut close to Buzzsaw's camp. However, they see Buzzsaw talking to Sledkin and decide to spy on them.
Eugene has finished assembling his team, consisting of Alex's moms, Pete (who he blackmailed into joining by threatening to tell May that he sleeps while on duty), Hobs, and Nibbles, while Alex observes Eugene's "training" both to make sure her moms aren't hurt and for her amusement. Eugene attempts to teach his team how to ride Webmaster, but it ultimately and predictably fails spectacularly. When the training almost gets Carla injured, Alex berates Eugene for his recklessness and tells him he can't lead anything. Forced to admit his failure, Eugene disbands his team and flies off depressed.
Back at Buzzsaw's Camp, Tom sneaks closer to listen in on Buzzsaw and Sledkin's conversation. Buzzsaw brought Sledkin to his camp because he refuses to let her excavate on "his land" unless she can do something for him. He shows her the Book of Dragons and asks if she can translate the runes. Sledkin, being an archeologist, is able to decipher the book and Buzzsaw proposes that she translate it for him in exchange for the rights to excavate as much dragonsite as she wants.
Eugene returns the Ice Realm and tries to chase the Flamethrowers out with only Webmaster. They manage to catch the Flamethrowers in Webmaster's webs, but Nibbles, who followed them, triggers one of Buzzsaw's booby traps by grabbing a piece of fish that is connected to a net trap that catches Eugene and Webmaster and sends up a flare. The flare alerts Buzzsaw, who brings Sledkin with him to investigate. Back at ICARIS, Alex is unable to find Eugene and feeling guilty about berating him so harshly, asks D'Angelo for help tracking him with Plowhorn.
In the Ice Realm, the Flame Throwers break free of the web and threaten to attack the trapped Eugene and Webmaster while Nibbles coldly ditches them. Buzzsaw and Sledkin arrive and Eugene attempts to bluff that the other Dragon Riders will rescue him, but Linda (who is still in contact with an ICARIS Employee she is dating who tells her gossip from ICARIS) reveals that Dragon Riders disbanded. Eugene insists the others will save him, but Sledkin dismisses his claims and agrees to a partnership with Buzzsaw. Before Buzzsaw can capture Eugene, Tom and Jun come to Eugene's rescue and Alex and D'Angelo track them down at the same time. Unfortunately, the group is still unable work together properly until Eugene convinces everyone to fight off Buzzsaw's alliance and the Flamethrowers and escape. After the dragon riders escape, Linda finds Nibbles hanging around and Sledkin lets her keep him after growing fond of his bad attitude.
The riders return to the lair and discuss what to do now that Buzzsaw and Sledkin have teamed up. Eugene asks the others if the team is getting back together, but no one answers.
