Elephants are mentioned very briefly in the How to Train Your Dragon Book series.
Elephants (Family Elephantidae) are the only group of Order Proboscidea alive today, with three species in two genera. Elephants are the largest terrestrial animal currently living. Elephants are widely known for their flexible, prehensile proboscis nose and their tusks - a pair of teeth jutting out from their skulls.
Elephants are mentioned in the Book series as a descriptor for other things.
In real life, Elephants have been hunted extensively for their ivory tusks and also meat for consumption. Many Asian cultures have also used the Asian Elephant as a beast of burden and even a war beast. They are also a captive animal that is seen in zoos and perform in circuses.
