Electricsquirm is a nanodragon seen primarily in How to Speak Dragonese.

Physical Appearance[]

Electricsquirms are tiny dragons with a body shape similar to a lizard or salamander. They have one pair of wings and a triangular tail tip.

Electricsquirms and Glow-worms are said to be closely related.

Abilities[]

As the name implies, Electricsquirms conduct electricity. Their entire body can conduct electricity, save for the end of their tails, which is "made of some sort of horny material".

Electricsquirms are also described as having a green glow in How to Be a Pirate:

The eerie green light seemed to be given off by Electricsquirms, a tiny dragon-like creature that glows with phosphorescence.

Weaknesses[]

Their tail tips are not electrified, and can serve as a sort of "Achilles heel" for the Electricsquirm.

Electricsquirms also cannot speak Dragonese, implying a more simplistic intelligence.

Training[]

Electricsquirms cannot be trained, but can still be utilized by Vikings. Because of their electricity conduction, they are a substitute for Glow-worms in Viking lighting.

Electricsquirms can be handled by picking them up by the tip of their tails safely.

Like other Nanodragons, Electricsquirms did not take sides in the Dragon Rebellion.

Appearances[]

How to Be a Pirate[]

Electricsquirms are first mentioned in Book 2 when Hiccup,Fishlegs, and Alvin the Treacherous enter the Caliban Caves from under the sea.

How to Speak Dragonese[]

The Fat Consul was eating honey-covered Nanodragons while lying on a couch. Hiccup stealthily switched a nearby Electricsquirm with one of the nanodragons (which turned out to be Ziggerastica) and the Fat Consul was shocked when he attempted to grab it.

An informational page appears in this Book, along with instructions on how to pick an Electricsquirm up.

Electricsquirms also appear near the end of the book, function much like fireflies in the night.

The Electricsquirms flickered to life and danced across the ocean like little fiery sparks, trailing tails of sparkling, dusty light behind them.
