Eel Pox is a dangerous disease that affects both dragons and humans, however it has more severe affects on dragons.
Symptoms of the Eel Pox[]
Humans[]
The symptoms of Eel Pox involve the chills, violent sneezing, coughing, and a slight paleness in the skin. It also causes humans to have delusions and changes in character. Gobber thought that he was his aunt, Snotlout started persuading the dragons that they were being treated unfairly, and the Twins became intellectually smarter and started carrying out scientific experiments. ("The Eel Effect"). This disease can spread to others; as proven for the young dragon riders who weren't affected by the Eel Pox for an amount of time were then caught by the sickness and then had to wait for the cure aspect from Fishlegs and Hiccup, who were searching for it. Although it wasn't known if Gothi got the disease, she may have had to stay in her hut to be safe.
Dragons[]
It makes all species of dragons (except for the Typhoomerang) very sick and hostile, while increasing the number and power of their shots, even changing the color of the fire. It also disorients their senses; dragons see blurry, contorted images, and also see everything in shades of red. This makes a dragon confused and frustrated, thus making them very aggressive.
