Tom: "Looks like Feathers chose you over going with the other Featherhides."
Alex: "She needs me as much as I need her. And she doesn't care if I can't give a speech in front of a crowd of people, I'm brave enough for her when it counts."
When Feathers is taken by a group of what appears to be zombie dragons, Alex finds her inner hero and rescues her friend.

Plot[]
For class, the kids are given an assignment on public speaking, and will have to give a speech in front of the entire station, much to the concern of a timid Alex. The group practices their speeches in the Dragon's Lair but discover that Alex plans to use a hologram to give her speech for her. D'Angelo points out that the hologram defeats the point of the assignment, which is to have the courage to speak in front of a crowd, but Alex would rather fail than face her fear of public speaking. The conversation is suddenly interrupted by an alert of a dragon getting past the sensors, and Tom rushes off on his own to check it out. When they reach the area, all they find is skeletal remains of a dragon despite all the sensors going off. However, they are suddenly surrounded by a pack of dragons resembling zombies that can cloak like Feathers. While trying to escape, D'Angelo is bitten by one of the dragons, and Feathers is abducted by them.
After the dragons leave, the group ponder if they were really zombies, and then Jun adds that those who are bitten by a zombie becomes one. As the group tracks Feathers through the tracker in her saddle, D'Angelo becomes paranoid that he is turning into a zombie. They then discover that the saddle had been pulled off when Feathers was taken, and Alex blames herself for letting it happen. The others comfort her and promise that they will find Feathers. They soon discover the zombie dragons are gathered in a large chamber where Feathers is being held inside a crystal plateau. The dragons display behavior of a hive mind and D'Angelo continues to believe that he is turning into a zombie. Tom sees that the zombie dragon's wings are torn and believes that they can fly over without being caught. When they attempt to fly to the plateau, the dragons try to shoot them down with their sonic screeches. Just as Thunder, Tom, and Alex are about to reach the plateau, they are stopped by a titan wing zombie dragon that chases them away.
Everyone is left exhausted from the failed attempt, but D'Angelo reveals his bite wound, and believes that he is turning into a zombie. Jun and Tom try to assure him that he is just letting his imagination get ahead of him, but D'Angelo doesn't believe them. He then forces the others tie him up to Plowhorn, believing it will keep the others safe from him. When the group hears the zombie dragons coming towards them, Tom suggests that they retreat. Refusing to leave Feathers, Alex takes charge and orders the others to distract the zombie dragons while she goes to rescue Feathers alone. The dragon riders make a barrier to hold off the zombie dragons, while Alex finds her bravery and sneaks past them on foot. She climbs to the top of the plateau and finds Feathers, along with two more captive Featherhides. Before she can free them, she is found and chased by the titan wing. She distracts the titan wing using her hologram, and then frees Feathers and the other captured Featherhides. The titan wing gives chase, but then goes after the other dragon riders just as they run out of firepower. Alex and Feathers finally arrive to aid their friends, and blasts the zombie dragons with a sonic blast, during which the old scales were removed to reveal that they are simply Featherhides who were molting their scales. D'Angelo realizes that the molting process made the Featherhides feel vulnerable, which was the cause of their aggression, and is relieved that he is not turning into a zombie. Alex and Feathers then continue blasting the rest of the molting Featherhides, but are once again faced by the titan wing Featherhide, which they now know is just molting as well. Feathers and the other Featherhides combine their sonic blasts to hit the titan wing, and it emerges fully molted. With all the Featherhides returned to normal, the large group leave peacefully. Feathers is given the chance to join the Featherhides, but she chooses to stay with Alex, who has found her bravery when it counts.
