How to Train Your Dragon Wiki

Okay, so listen up. The first rule about Dragon Club, is you don't talk about Dragon Club. It's a secret. Can you keep a secret D'Angelo?
  — Tom

"Dragon Club" is the fourth episode of the first season of Dragons: The Nine Realms.

Synopsis[]

Tom and Jun take a risk in revealing the secret of the Hidden Realm to D'Angelo to aid an injured dragon; D'Angelo bonds with Plowhorn.

Plot[]

Tom and Jun investigate the hole and discover it was burned through the wall. Tom suspects a dragon was responsible and suggests they leave before they can encounter whatever made it. While leaving, the group discovers an injured Gembreaker and Tom decides to try and help it. However, the dragon is hostile and fires at them. When she sees how the Gembreaker is suffering, Jun agrees to help, and they head back to the fissure to reach Rakketown's hospital to search for something to help it. While flying through the fissure, the group spots a drone and Thunder destroys it to avoid being spotted. Olivia, May, and Linda discover the drone's destruction but can't find anything in its footage other than a flash of light and a shadowy outline of Thunder. While looking through the security camera's footage, Alex discovers the footage from the drone and becomes curious.

While heading through Rakketown, Jun and Tom are forced to take cover when another earthquake goes off. After the quake, D'Angelo helps his mom, Angela Baker, stock the hospital supply room, Angela asks D'Angelo why he isn't hanging out with the other kids. D'Angelo explains that Tom and Jun are always disappearing, and Alex is reclusive. Angela advises D'Angelo to let down his guard and he'll find his way of connecting with others. While continuing to restock, D'Angelo finds Tom and Jun grabbing a first aid kit and Jun explains they are trying to help an injured lizard. D'Angelo offers to help, having experience helping animals from working with his veterinarian grandfather. Tom is unsure about letting D'Angelo, the son of the security chief, in on the dragon secret, but Jun believes that D'Angelo is the best chance they have of helping the Gembreaker. When D'Angelo asks them what they are talking about, Jun invites him to "Dragon Club."

Tom and Jun take D'Angelo to the cave while Tom tells D'Angelo that dragon club is a secret. D'Angelo vows to keep the secret on the honor of the army rangers, a position his dad once held, but is wary of going so far away from ICARIS. Tom and Jun show D'Angelo their dragon friends, Thunder and Wu and Wei, but he freaks out and accidentally knocks himself out by crashing into a pillar. D'Angelo wakes up on Wu and Wei while being taken through the fissure and Tom explains that he can't tell anyone to protect the dragons. Things get worse when Alex calls Tom to tell him about the figure she saw from the drone footage, meaning the secret is getting closer to being revealed. When the group reaches the crystal realm, D'Angelo wants to leave and tell his father. Tom convinces D'Angelo to keep the secret and continue helping for the time by threating to leave him in the realm. Jun and Tom bring D'Angelo to where they saw the injured Gembreaker, they discover it's gone, and D'Angelo deduces it sought cover to protect itself.

They soon find the Gembreaker and D'Angelo explains they first need to find the source of the injury, but the dragon won't let them get close to examine it. Despite the danger, D'Angelo is unwilling to abandon the injured dragon and the group comes up with a plan to tranquilize the dragon and D'Angelo makes a mad dash to get close enough. He manages gets a chance to administer the tranquilizer but stops upon seeing how scared the dragon is. Instead, he gently treats the dragon's injuries using his mom's advice and remove a crystal fragment in her wing causing the pain. After being treated, the Gembreaker warms up to D'Angelo and the group spots a trio of Gembreakers coming. Believing they are coming to rescue the Gembreaker, the group hides to avoid interfering, but discover that the trio are bullying the Gembreaker and were responsible for her previous injury. D'Angelo tries to stop them but angers the trio into chasing him and the others. While fleeing the trio, the injured Gembreaker returns, bonds with D'Angelo, and helps chase of the bullying trio. D'Angelo names the Gembreaker Plowhorn and agrees to join Dragon Club to keep the secret.

That night, Tom and Jun join D'Angelo's family for dinner. However, D'Angelo proves to be terrible at keeping the secret and nervously spills everything to his parents. Fortunately, Tom and Jun are able to convince the Baker's everything D'Angelo said was just a part of a game.
