Plot[]

Philip and D'Angelo arrive to deal with a creature disturbing the station and terrorizing the crew. The creature turns out to be the sheep the Dragon Club keeps running into and Philip fears the rampaging animal has gone rabid. D'Angelo figures out the sheep is cranky because of pain from overgrown hooves and solves the problem by trimming them and calming the sheep down (though it still has an attitude). Philip is impressed by D'Angelo's work, much to his son's pride.

Later, while flying through the crystal realm, D'Angelo shares his excitement with the others. They see a group of Gronckles from the fire realm repeatedly barfing from eating crystals, which they aren't adapted to eat, but keep eating them anyway. Seeing that the Gronckles are getting worse, D'Angelo suggests returning them to the fire realm, but the Gronckles ignore their attempts to scare them back to the fire realm. Since the only thing that can get the Gronckles' attention is food, D'Angelo decides to use food from the fire realm to lure them back to where they belong. D'Angelo finds some rocks to use, but Plowhorn is clearly against using them. He ignores Plowhorn's repeated warnings and brings the rocks to the Gronckles. The plan works too well though and the Gronckles go into a feeding frenzy over the rocks, eating all but one, and forcing the Dragon Club to retreat to avoid getting caught up in it. Plowhorn continues to act strange when they were using the rocks, and Tom suggests D'Angelo listen to her, reminding him a good idea can come from anywhere, even a dragon.

D'Angelo insists he knows what he's doing and keep up with his plan, but Plowhorn flies D'Angelo back to the fire realm to where they found the rocks. There, the group discovers the rock is shaking and realize that it is actually a dragon egg. D'Angelo is horrified by his mistake, and the egg's mother, a Catastrophic Quaken, attacks them for taking her eggs. The riders narrowly flee to safety, but D'Angelo is disheartened by his failure to listen to Plowhorn and the others and bring back the last egg. He gives Tom the last egg and leaves the crystal realm, believing it is best if he stays out of the plan. Tom decides to fix what they can by luring the Gronckles back with the last egg, and then return it to its nest. They manage to lure the Gronckles back to the fire realm and drop them off at a rock pile where they can eat all they want. Tom tries to return the egg, but the mother Quaken attacks the Gronckles, believing they are responsible for the rest of the eggs being taken. Realizing only D'Angelo might be the only one who can stop the mother, Alex goes to get him while Jun and Tom distract the mother.

D'Angelo is unwilling to return after his mistake, but Alex encourages him to learn from his mistake and convinces him. On the way to the fire realm, D'Angelo gets an idea of how to solve everything. He feeds the Gronckles crystals, which causes them to barf out the eggs intact and return them to the mother. At first, the Quaken still appears to be angry, but Plowhorn points out she is only mad at the Gronckles who are still trying to eat them. On the way back home, D'Angelo explains he knew reptiles took a long time to digest, so he used that and the crystals to recover the eggs. He also admits that he couldn't have done it without his team or "Nurse Plowhorn", the nickname he gives her.
