The Deadly Nadder is a medium-sized dragon that first appeared in How to Train Your Dragon.
Official Description[]
| “ | The Deadly Nadder is as fierce as it is striking. With vibrant colors and the sharp instincts of a tropical bird, the Nadder is nimble, quick and precise. Moving on two legs and using its wings for balance, the Nadder is an agile hunter with a keen sense of smell, making it an excellent tracker. It breathes magnesium-fueled fire and wields a spiked tail, launching razor-sharp quills in a whip-like attack. Despite its deadly accuracy, the Nadder has one critical weakness—a blind spot directly in front of its nose horn. [src] | ” |
| “ | A vain and aggressive spine-shooting Tracker Class Dragon. A keen sense of smell makes up for a blind spot right in front of its nose. The Deadly Nadder attacks from a distance, always staying just out of reach while launching fireballs at opponents. |

Physical Appearance[]
Hatchling to Adult[]
The Deadly Nadder is a bipedal dragon with a striking, colorful appearance and a light beige underbelly, standing with a posture reminiscent of both birds and certain dinosaurs. Its wing-forelimbs allow for agile flight, while its small, keen eyes are crucial for accurately striking targets. Distinctive features include an underbite and a prominent crown of spikes.
Abilities[]
Firepower[]
The Deadly Nadder boasts a magnesium flame, capable of reducing Vikings to ash and melting metal. Some individuals exhibit a green flame, suggesting the presence of copper in their fire.
Spine Shot[]
The Deadly Nadder possesses a remarkable ability to deploy hundreds of sharp tail spikes with incredible accuracy, capable of immobilizing or injuring its prey. As a form of intimidation before an attack, these spikes can also be vibrated to produce a distinct rattling sound, akin to a rattlesnake.
Acute Senses[]
Deadly Nadders possess an exceptionally keen sense of smell, which effectively compensates for the blind spot directly in front of their nose.
Weaknesses[]
Blind Spot[]
If you stand right in front of a Nadder’s nose, they will not be able to see you.
Vulnerable Areas[]
Nadders have a special weak spot under their chin, which when scratched, is extremely comfortable. Like a stereotypical comic-relief reaction of dogs being scratched, Nadder's eyeballs roll up, they gape their mouths open in comfort and their spikes preen downwards. When stroked correctly, some Nadders may collapse momentarily.
Behaviour and Personality[]
The Deadly Nadder is vain and aggressive.
