Cartoon Network is a broadcasting network based in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. On October 1, 2010, the channel announced that they would grant worldwide broadcasting rights to Dragons: Riders of Berk in 2012-2013, and then Dragons: Defenders of Berk in 2013-2014, the TV series spin-off of the 2010 film.
Cartoon Network is also known to air Gift of the Night Fury on occasion during the holiday season.
Cartoon Network is a part of Turner Broadcasting Systems. It began as an accumulation of classic cartoon properties such as Looney Tunes and Popeye, then later Hanna-Barbera animations. With the success of the cable channel TNT, Turner created a channel for its cartoon properties in 1992.
The 1990's also saw Cartoon Network starting to work on original cartoons such as Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, Johnny Bravo, and The Powerpuff Girls. In 1997, CN launched "Toonami", a block of time designated for dubbed Japanese animation shows. Later in 2001, Cartoon Network also released a late night time block of animation geared toward older audiences called "Adult Swim".
Cartoon Network continues to create original content such as Dexter's Laboratory, The Grim Adventures of Bill and Mandy, Adventure Time. Companies created for and by Cartoon Network include:  which is a production studio for some of the original series, Cartoon Network Games which produces games based of of the Network's animations, Cartoon Network on Demand which is a video-on-demand service.
