In "Follow the Lightning, Part 1", Carla and Hazel were taking care of their garden, when Eugene Wong came to them, asking them if they knew where Alex and the other teenagers were spending their time. The two women realised the boy was up to no good, so they didn't offer him any details, instead reminiscing of the time they met while playing a video game. After Eugene left, Carla remarked that he had a "good boy act".
Fascinating Discovery[]
In "Empty Fireworm Nest", Carla brought cookies to Alex's room, only to find that her daughter wasn't there. She expressed her disappointment to Hazel, wishing that Alex would spend more time with them. Later that day, after Alex returned home, Carla was shocked to see a strange lizard on the sink faucet. She caught it in a jar and suggested bringing it to the lab for further study. After analysing it alongside Hazel, Carla started to grow attached to the creature, naming it Glowmer. She and Hazel both agreed to keep Glowmer in their dome.
After a while, Jun burst into their room and told the pair that Director May Wong requested their presence. Carla and Hazel left quickly, with Glowmer remaining in the care of Jun and Alex. However, the two women soon found out that the girls lied to them and took Glowmer outside of the dome. Just then, Linda arrived and took Glowmer to be analysed by Wilma Sledkin. Carla and Hazel gave him to Linda and scolded Alex for lying. Even so, Alex explained herself, telling her mothers that she wanted to release Glowmer back into the wild, as he appeared weak and unhappy in captivity. Carla and Hazel agreed with their daughter. They later helped distract Wilma as Alex and Jun took Glowmer out of the lab.
Helping Olivia[]

Worried about the state she's in Carla offers Olivia to come to lunch with her and Hazel hoping it might help her calm down but Olivia declines saying that she needs to figure out the crystal, as they leave Carla tells her if she wants something just to text her and she'll bring it back but as they leave the room Carla admits that Olivia is obsessed.
In "The Decoy", while the kids get a tour of the lab Olivia tells them Carla and Hazel are studying a rock specimen discovered deep in the fissure in which Hazel states it contains deep ocean minerals which reminds her and Carla of something similar they found in the ocean, Carla then asks Alex if she remembers that but she wasn't happy about it since she was sea sick for five months.
Meeting the Dragons[]
In "Scent of a Dragon", in the Nature Realm when the riders talk about revealing the secret to the adults Alex wishes to reveal it so her moms can be reunited with Glowmer. At ICARIS Carla is doing some research but then Olivia accidently bumps into her and apologises but Carla knows something is wrong with her and asks that she share to make her feel better, Olivia tells her about a secret as been bothering her in which Carla is happy to listen to and won't tell. As Olivia was about to tell her about the dragons Hazel interrupts them with news that Linda and Murray are dating in which Carla had a feeling they were since Murray told her he liked Linda so she told Linda to ask him out, the two start gossiping over the news. As Olivia leaves knowing it best not to tell them about the dragons Carla asks what she was about to say but Olivia lies saying she forgot what she was about to say. Later the Riders
In "Deep Freeze", in the Dragon's Lair as the team discusses whether the secret should come out Alex states that her moms miss Glowmer and she wants to reunite him with them. Later at the ICARIS emergency meeting as Philip addresses how the winter storm is getting worse he instructs everyone on what to do in which Carla and Hazel grab and use blankets to keep the lab samples warm and prevent them from freezing over. Later as the Helicopter starts flying out of control Carla and hazel witness this and become really worried after Olivia falls out and become shocked after seeing Thunder rescue her then Feathers and Wu and Wei grab and hold the helicopter up, and after D'Angelo and Eugene return with Plowhorn and Webmaster and the dragons safely land down in front of everyone at ICARIS in which Carla and Hazel were really surprised by but also wanted Alex to explain herself about the dragon secret which causes Feathers to turn invisible shocking them even more.
Living With Dragons[]
In "Dragons Everywhere!", some of the stray Dragons coming into Rakke Town trample through Hazel and Carla's garden so they head over to see if Tom can do something about it but leave after Olivia demands everyone leave Tom alone. Later after the other Riders get rid of the stray Dragons everyone is impressed by them also Hazel and Carla are very proud of Alex and even wave to her.
In "Break in Case of the Emergency", Carla is one of the ICARIS employees chosen to attend the mandatory ICARIS Leadership Success Series trust training exercise in which she along with some other adults leave ICARIS for the night and head to a hotel to do trust exercises with the others. When the training ends early she along with the rest of the adults head back to ICARIS before tomorrow, when she does she and Carla head back to their dome.
In "Poison Control", when D'Angelo thinks the Speed Stinger Antivenom might cure Thunder he mentions Carla being one of the people that developed it.

Joining Eugene's Team[]
In "In the Cards", when the Typhoomerangs fly and descend over ICARIS Carla joins the rest of the ICARIS Employees in evacuating Rakke Town.
In "Eugene's Lean Mean Extreme Dream Team", while the Gonzalez family were enjoying playing cards together with Feathers Eugene barges in shocking them and ruining their game in which Carla swears at Eugene but in Spanish making him unable to know what she said. When Eugene asks Carla and Hazel to join his new dragon rider team, Alex protests to the idea however Carla and Hazel think it's a wonderful idea and join him. While Eugene does his speech Carla isn't paying attention until Hazel nudges her, she then notices Eugene has cheesy loop dust on his face so she grabs him to clean it off which embarrasses him. When Nibbles start chewing on Eugene's foot Carla takes him off and then she and Hazel think of him as adorable. When the training begins Eugene has Carla take off into the sky with Webmaster however she states she's terrified of heights even as Webmaster is sitting on the floor she latches on hard to him and becomes more scared as he simply just stands ups, later when Eugene takes her into the air with Webmaster Carla is still terrified and when Eugene makes Webmaster to a loop Carla falls off but Alex and Feathers safely catch her. After Alex scolds Eugene stating he doesn't know what he's doing and makes him realise that he disbands the team so Carla and Hazel head back to ICARIS.
In "404 Alex Not Found", when wanting to apologise to Alex by getting her tablet fixed the Riders take it to her moms to see if they can help so when Carla inspects it she thinks the problem might be the battery, after a little tinkering Carla manages to fix it and she and Hazel are politely greeted by Wendy.
Helping the Dragon Club[]

Physical Appearance[]
Carla is a brown skinned woman with brown eyes. Her hair is same colors of her daughter Alex's, being brown and blonde at the end, and she has bangs that part to her right side. She wears golden hoop earrings.
She wears a long sleeved green overalls with black boots as her work uniform.
Personality[]
Carla is very optimistic and fun loving, while also being a loving mother and wife. She always tries to see the best out of every situation and particularly enjoys spending time with her family. She is also shown to have a special appreciation for the outdoors, especially in catching fireflies which she finds particularly enjoyable.
Like her wife Hazel, Carla was often worried about their daughter’s fear of the outside and wished for her to make friends with other children, being concerned about Alex’s hidden loneliness. Since Alex’s initiation into the Dragon Club, however, she has been shown to be extremely happy for her daughter having finally made friends with other children and is shown to highly approve of the time she spends with them.
As a biologist, Carla possesses a deep fondness for wildlife, being especially doting towards small animals she comes across. Because of this, she is very excited at the prospect of finding new species within the Kullersen Fissure to not only examine and learn about, but also to dote on. In addition, despite being a loyal employee of the Rakke Corp, Carla ultimately places the needs of living creatures, particularly those she studies, over the demands of her employers. This was shown when she helped her daughter liberate the Fireworm Glowmer from the Rakke Corp’s research center when it was shown that captivity was having a negative impact on his health, despite such an act costing the company potentially millions of dollars from such a discovery.
Though she is fun-loving and kindhearted, Carla is susceptible to feeling jealous of others. This was shown when she became envious of her Alex’s friends when her daughter started spending more time with them than with her and Hazel. This envy can cloud her judgement at times and make her act irrationally when provoked enough, as shown when she nearly forbade Alex from seeing her friends again after she and Hazel caught their daughter and Jun lying to them. After Alex and Jun explained themselves, however, Carla realized her mistake and didn’t allow her envy to define her, instead understanding that their intentions were noble and deciding to help them in their mission.
Carla also seem to be a fairly perceptive individual, having been able to easily recognize Eugene’s polite behavior as merely an act.
Abilities, Talents, and Skills[]
- Biology: As a biologist working for the Rakke Corporation, Carla possesses extensive knowledge in the biology of other animals.
- Firefly Catching: Carla has been shown to enjoy catching fireflies for fun at night. She is has shown significant knowledge on their habits and how to catch them safely without harming them.
Relationships[]
Alexandra Gonzalez[]
Carla is one of Alexandra's two mothers and she seems to be her physical mother. She and Hazel both love Alex very much and are very compassionate towards her. Despite this, both were shown to be deeply worried over their daughter’s Agoraphobia (fear of the outside), which caused her to remain cooped up in her room and rarely journey outside unless she had too. This also resulted in Alex refusing to join Carla and Hazel when they attempted to have fun outdoor activities such as catching fireflies, and in her having no other friends her age. Despite Carla and Hazel being saddened by this, they nonetheless tolerated Alex’s disposition, showing a degree of patience with her and didn’t want to force her to do anything she was uncomfortable with.
Upon Alex’s initiation into the Dragon Club, which Carla and Hazel assumed to be a game, they were overjoyed at how their daughter had finally befriended others. They are shown to deeply approve of Alex’s spending time with her friends and overcoming her fears as a result.
Ironically, however, overtime Carla’s desire for Alex to make friends with others began to make their relationship begin to be somewhat strained once again. This was due to Alex spending more time with the other riders than with her and Hazel. This left Carla feeling somewhat lonely and missing having her daughter around, longing for the chance to spend more time with her. Later on, when Alex and her friend Jun lied to Carla and Hazel, Carla was furious at her daughter to the point of nearly forbidding her from seeing her friends again, despite her earlier approval of them. Fortunately, after Alex and Jun explained themselves, Carla forgave her daughter, realizing that they were simply trying to protect Glowmer and later aided them in retrieving him from Dr. Sledkin before she could examine him. Since then, Alex has agreed to spend more time with Carla and Hazel, allowing their bond to grow.
When she and Hazel finally met their daughter's dragon, they were slightly upset saying that she would have a lot to explain, but were also shocked upon seeing Feathers turn invisible. Soon, they both gave a little grin, which may indicate they will come to accept Alex's friendship with the young Featherhide.
Glowmer[]
Carla first encountered the small Fireworm dragon, which she named Glowmer, after discovering him inside her dome while speaking with her daughter Alex. Immediately fascinated with the creature, which she assumed to be a bizarre new species of lizard rather than a dragon, Carla proceeded to capture him in the hopes of studying him. During this time, Carla became especially doting towards Glowmer, finding the Fireworm to be adorable and enjoyed playing with him. However, she also began to worry for the small dragon when his health was beginning to decline, due to having been separated from the rest of his flock. This concern for Glowmer’s health motivated Carla into helping her daughter Alex sabotage her superiors’ efforts to study him in order to return him to the wild. The efforts of both Carla and Hazel ultimately resulted in Glowmer’s liberation and his return to his flock, which also saved his life when the other Fireworms managed to heal him. Though Carla misses Glowmer a great deal, she still acknowledges that he belongs in the wild where he can be both safe and happy.
While she knew he was back where he belongs, she hoped one day that she and Hazel would one day see him again. Now that the dragons secret is out to all of ICARIS, she now has a possible chance to do so.
When Jörmungandr threatened all life in the Hidden World and on the surface, she knew that she would be sad if ICARIS closed down and the dragons had to return to hiding. Though she was sad Glowmer and the dragons did go back to the Hidden World to stay hidden, they still loved Glowmer enough to keep his existence a secret.
Hazel Gonzalez[]
Hazel is Carla’s wife and colleagues at ICARIS. The two first met while playing a post-apocalyptic video game together called “Horticulture Shock”, and fell in love with each other sometime afterword, with both becoming employees of the Rakke Coporation. They are shown to have a very loving marriage together and are rarely seen separate from each other. One of their favorite pastimes together is catching fireflies together at night. They were both shown to be worried over their daughter’s fears of the outside and how it was impacting her life, but following her initiation into the Dragon Club, their happiness has only increased now that their daughter has friends to play with.
Tom Kullersen, Jun Wong, D'Angelo Baker, and Eugene Wong[]
Carla, along with Hazel, first met Tom, Jun, and D’Angelo in “Featherhide” when the young dragon riders visited their dome to talk to Alex about her encounter with their dragons. Thinking they were her daughter's new friends, both Carla and Hazel warmly welcomed them to their dome, even offering to put on a movie for them to watch and leaving them to themselves when they thought they needed privacy. Carla has been shown to deeply approve of Alex’s friendship with the Dragon Club riders, being deeply thankful to them for befriending her daughter and helping her mature against her fears. This includes Tom, despite his bad reputation among the other adults at ICARIS. She was also surprised when she meets the dragons in "Deep Freeze" and see what really happens in Dragon Club. But Tom assures everyone, including her, that the dragons can be their friends as long as they show them respect and protection.
In “Empty Fireworm Nest”, however, Carla’s approval of Alex’s friends began to change, due to Alex spending so much more time with them rather than with her and Hazel, causing her to become envious of the Dragon Club. When Alex and Jun lied to both her and Hazel in an attempt to liberate the captive Glowmer, Carla, in her envy, accused the Dragon Riders of being a bad influence on Alex and nearly forbade her daughter from seeing them again. However, after Alex and Jun explained how their actions were to ensure Glowmer’s health, Carla realized she had been wrong about the Club and regretted allowing her envy of them to dominate her attitude. After helping Alex and Jun liberate Glowmer, Carla resumed her support for Alex’s friendship with the Club, once again acknowledging the positive impact they have had on her.
Feathers[]
She and Hazel meet their daughter's dragon for the first time in "Deep Freeze" where they rescue Olivia and Phil from falling into the Fissure after the helicopter malfunctioned. They both demanded Alex to do a lot of explaining, which spooked Feathers into turning invisible, and that in turn surprised them. Despite this, they were willing to give the young Featherhide a chance to show she can be a good friend to them. Since then, Feathers has shown such great love and respect for Carla that she now feels part of the Gonzalez Family.
When Jörmungandr threatened all life in the Hidden World and on the surface, she knew that the kids would be sad if ICARIS closed down and the dragons had to return to hiding. Though she was sad Feathers and the dragons did go back to the Hidden World to stay hidden, she still loved Feathers enough to keep her existence a secret.
Wilma Sledkin[]
Like Hazel, Carla has been shown to dislike their fellow Rakke Corp scientist, Dr. Sledkin, for her greedy nature and arrogant attitude. Like her wife, Carla was concerned upon hearing that the company had selected Sledkin to examine Glowmer, fearing that she wouldn’t take proper care of him even when his health was beginning to decline. Soon after, alongside Hazel, Carla worked to personally distract Sledkin during Alex and Jun’s mission to retrieve Glowmer, much to the doctor’s annoyance. This ultimately prevented her from noticing the two dragon riders as they managed to retrieve the Fireworm and eventually return him to the wild. Because of this, Sledkin has since developed a grudge against Carla and her wife for their interference.
