Bottle Gourds, more accurately known as Calabash, are vegetables that appear briefly in the DreamWorks Dragons Franchise.

Description[]

Bottle Gourds (Lagenaria siceraria) are vegetables related to squash, pumpkins, cucumbers, and other plants known as gourds. They come in a huge number of varieties around the globe and in a wide range of shapes. Possibly the more well known variety takes the shape roughly of an hour glass, and is often dried and used to contain liquids. These gourds were cultivated on most continents for several millennia.

Function[]

The Bottle Gourd is primarily used to create items of use, such as containers. However a multitude of items can be constructed from them, including very fine instruments. Some varieties are edible though, and there are many regional dishes from many cultures using calabash.

Appearances[]

How to Train Your Dragon 2[]
