Birta the Bane is a character mentioned in the game, Dragons: Titan Uprising.
Biography[]
Bonding with a Dragon[]
After Birta's village was wiped out by the Scourge of Odin, she wandered the wilderness of the Frozen Tundra for three weeks, ignored by anyone who crossed paths with her. She then encountered a group of Dragon Hunters about to capture a Zipplewraith hatchling, and she single-handedly killed them, saving the dragon. She then bonded with the hatching, which came to be known later as Skadi’s Woe, and the two of them took care for each other in the freezing wasteland. As the Zipplewraith grew, Birta built a home for herself on the dragon's back, which led people who saw it to believe she lived in a house on chicken legs. She lived the rest of her life alongside Skadi’s Woe, until she died of old age. She then became a legend to people, known as Baba Birta, a one-eyed woman who will carry away any children who annoy their parents to tell them too many stories before bedtime.

Trivia[]
- The story of Birta the Bane described in Dragons: Titan Uprising is a reference to the Baba Yaga in Slavic folklore, which is a deformed or frightening-looking old woman living in a hut on chicken legs who is often depicted as a child-eating monster.
