Physical Appearance[]

ROB-Barklethorn Egg

Egg[]

Barklethorn eggs have an irregular ovoid shape. The brown surface has the appearance of being scaled, or the unopened bracts of a pine cone. The surface is also speckled with brownish cream spikes.

ROB-Barklethorn Hatchling

Hatchling to Adult[]

Barklethorns are structurally shaped like the typical Deadly Nadder. Their coloration, however, is predominantly shades of brown, reminiscent of tree bark. They have lighter colored underbellies and yellow eyes.

Titan Wing[]

Barklethorns do not physically change much other than gain larger size when they attain the Titan Wing stage of their life cycle.

Abilities[]

Deadly Nadder Abilities[]

Barklethorns have the abilities all Deadly Nadders possess. These include: spine shots, magnesium-based flames, high flying speeds, and an incredible sense of smell allowing them to be excellent trackers.

Weaknesses[]

Weaknesses of the Deadly Nadder[]

Barklethorn Nadders are susceptible to the same weaknesses that afflict all Deadly Nadders. Executing their spine shot ability can leave them vulnerable to attack, especially on the belly. They also have a blind spot immediately in front of their muzzle.

Behavior and Personality[]

Barklethorn Nadders lay eggs and brood through the Summer. Unlike many other Deadly Nadders, Barklethorns prefer nesting amongst trees with dense active growth. They especially prefer older mature trees, possibly because these would most likely support the weight of a dragon. By some unknown mechanism, new plant growth surrounding the Barklethorn egg aids in hatching. After hatching, small branches serve as a chew toy or perhaps teething aide. Besides these variations in brooding and hatching, Barklethorns are presumably otherwise similar to standard Deadly Nadders with respect to behavior and personality.

Games[]

Dragons: Rise of Berk[]

Barklethorns were introduced in late Summer of 2021 as an Exclusive dragon. It can only be obtained through special events or special searches. They have a long range attack in the battle mini-games, and are able to collect both Wood and Fish resources, as well as Iron.

Trivia[]
