Auction Island is an island that is named in the game, School of Dragons in the expansion "Return to Dragon Island".

This island is also "loosely based on the concept of the episode "Last Auction Heroes"" in Dragons: Race to the Edge, Season 3, according to a staff member at School of Dragons in a personal communication. Based on this along with several suggestive dialogues within "Return to Dragon Island", this Wiki will assume these locations are the same.

Official Description[]

Auction Island is protected by rocky cliffs that surround it from all sides. Lush trees and greenery keep the Auction Zone hidden from prying, do-gooder eyes. Here, the dragon traders barter and sell their illicit goods with the hope of making their fortune.

Geography[]

Auction Island is a steep rocky island with high cliffs and provinces. It is covered with evergreen coniferous trees (possibly spruce or similar species), grass, bushes and other fens that appear to have fall foliage. The light is predominantly held at the red end of the light spectrum, suggesting a very far northern latitude, and therefore a cold climate.

There are two docking points for ships on opposite sides of the island. There is also an area for Dragon Hunter auctions and a bazaar of sorts. Nearby there are empty dragon cages and a cage that holds a Singetail dragon during play.

According to School of Dragons, there are also two fishing sites where the player can fish at.

As of the "Wrath of Stormheart" Expansion, Auction Island is portrayed at nighttime and has various teal banners and symbols of Nikora Stormheart around the island.

Appearances[]

Dragons: Race to the Edge, Season 3[]

During the episode "Last Auction Heroes", Snotlout posing as Sir Ogelthorpe, and Gobber as his valet, infiltrated a Dragon auction sponsored by Viggo Grimborn on a secret island. The Dragon Riders sneaked onto the island with the help of Trader Johann and obviated the auction in order to free the dragons in captivity there.

School of Dragons[]

During the "Return to Dragon Island", the player follows the NPC character Eret, Son of Eret to find out information about Harald Forkbeard, his "magic bones", and the captured Singetail. Auction Island is also the docking place of a Dragon Hunter ship that the player explores and retrieves dragon fossils.

I don't know where Auction Island is, even though I was there a few years ago. I was quite busy the last time we were there.

Auction Island appears again as a destination in the Quests of the Expansion "Rise of Stormheart". The player must go here to find and speak with Harald Forkbeard.

Because this island is occupied by Dragon Hunters, the player is not able to have their dragons accompany them.

Auction Island also appears prominently in the "Wrath of Stormheart" Expansion. During the expansion, Nikora Stormheart goes to great lengths to collect an ancient artifact from her people and then distract the player and Dragon Riders. While attacking multiple islands as distraction, Nikora goes to Auction Island with the artifact and assumes control of the island. Harald informs the player that "her ancestors once ruled here centuries ago."
