Astrid's Makeshift (or Improvised) Weapons are everyday objects temporarily used by Astrid in a variety of defensive and uncertain situations.
History[]
Dragons: Riders of Berk[]
In "Alvin and the Outcasts", Astrid falls off her dragon and is captured by Alvin. While the other Riders distract Alvin, Astrid grabs an oar and hits him on the head and in the stomach. She then jumps on Stormfly and escapes.
Dragons: Race to the Edge[]
Season 2[]
In "Night of the Hunters, Part 2", while trying to escape Heather, Astrid picks up the first thing she saw, in this case being a spear. However, she was easily defeated by Heather. Later in the episode, Hiccup and Snotlout come to rescue the Dragon Riders. While Astrid and Tuffnut fight their way with two brooms, Heather challenges Astrid again. While at first she has the upper hand by cutting in half Astrid's broom, she is then overpowered and falls. Astrid then throws the broom pieces near Heather. While freeing Stormfly, Astrid is again confronted by Heather. This time, she picks up a chain.
Season 4[]
In "Blindsided", Astrid discovers that the Triple Stryke makes a clicking sound while braiding its tail. Astrid uses this to her advantage and tells Stormfly to shoot spines so every time the dragon made that noise she could click them to confuse it . She then picks two spines and bangs them together, making a sound that distracted the Triple Stryke. When she gets close enough, she reaches her hand, finally training it.
How to Train Your Dragon 2[]
When Stormfly is captured by Eret and his crew, Hiccup and Astrid confront them. While Hiccup fires Inferno, Astrid picks a long stick, taking a battle position. However, she doesn't use it as after Toothless blows up the place, Hiccup frees Stormfly and the two Riders get away.
Comics[]
In "Queen of the Hill" mini-comic, Astrid ends up on an island full of Smothering Smokebreaths, which steal her axe. Due to this, she finds other methods to fight a dragons, such as cutting open a bee hive with a stick and trapping the Smokebreaths in honey.
